Banaras saris

WWW.WISHESH.COM | SEPTEMBER 2015

Fine art Banaras Saris are not just something that covers body. It is the soul of beauty or to put it simple, it is something beyond a saree. Varanasi is one of the cities in Uttar Pradesh. The saris made in that city are called as ‘Banaras’ or ‘Benaras’ saris. Banaras saris are generally known for gold and silver brocade (richly decorative) or Zari, fine silk and opulent embroidery. Banaras saris are identified countrywide and are termed as one among the finest saris in India.

Characteritstics of Banaras saris. Mughal inspired designs such as intricate intertwining floral and foliate motifs, kalga and bel, a string of upright leaves called jhallar at the outer, edge of border is a characteristic of these saris. s chemical dyes are used in silk dyeing units in the trade, the Ganges River is getting polluted. To sort an alternative for this, the weavers are in a thought of bringing out the natural dyes. Regarding this, a research team from the Indian Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University (IIT-BHU) tried a solvent extraction and enzymatic extraction technique, to develop natural colors from plants, flowers and fruits including acacia, butia (Palash), madder, marigold and Pomegranate.

Banaras silk in losses over the years

A

fter the mechanized units came into prominence, which are able to produce the saris faster and also at a cheaper costs, the Banarasi silk handloom industry started incurring huge amount of losses. Bari bazaar in Varanasi is famous for banarasi silk sarees. Though they began to weave saris on handlooms, they slowly upgraded to powerlooms. The daily money transaction is probably 50 millions in Bari bazaar. Its unique designs made Bari bazaar, stand in the forefront of the developed textile market in the big cities like Surat, Mumbai, Kolkata etc.

Fine art GI certificate preserves Banaras weavers’ rights

A

fter two years, the weaver associations in Uttar Pradesh secured Geographical Indication (GI) rights for the ‘Banaras Brocades and Saris’ in 2009. GI preserves the rights on a particular good as originating in a certain region where a given quality, reputation or other characteristic of the product is essentially attributable to its geographical origin. As per the GI certificate, Banarasi products fall under four classes 1. Silk brocades 2. Textile goods 3. Silk saree 4. Dress material and silk embroidery. This means, any sari or brocade, made in other than below mentioned districts, i.e., Varanasi, Gorakhpur, Chandauli, Bhadohi, Jaunpur and Azamgarh, will not be allowed into market and the persons involved in selling the

LITTLE KRISHNA-

‘MAAKHAN CHOR’ ( THE STORY OF LOVE AND INNOCENCE)

24

WWW.WISHESH.COM | SEPTEMBER 2015

STORY FOR KIDS Little Krishna the naughty boy, yet the darling of gopis. They loved him for his innocence and the cleverness, delighted the hearts of Vrindavan. The naughty little Krishna was well known for his likeness towards butter and was known as ‘maakhan chor’, which means butter thief. This mischievous boy, not only steals butter from the houses, but also the hearts of gopis. Little Krishna lived in a beautiful town called ‘Gokul’. All the ladies in the town were called Gopis, and all the young boys, who were Little Krishna’s friends were called as Gopa Balas. All the gopis and gopas spent their day looking after the cows and calves. Krishna with Balarama and Gopa balas use to reach cow-shed and fulfill their hunger by untying them. As Little Krishna grew, his pranks began worrisome to the gopis. His love for butter and curd have every household to have an extra lock. Whenever gopis crossed the fields, Krishna along with his friends use to shoot pebbles at the milk pitchers, so that the milk would leak and they could enjoy drinking it. The women folk of Vrindavan loves Krishna to the core and

are also fed-up with the pranks of the naughty little Krishna. Fed-up with the pranks, yet delighted with love, they went to Yasoda, mother of Krishna with complaints every now and then. Yasoda had to listen often to the complaints, about her son’s mischieves in the houses of the Gopis. One of them will tell her, “Yesterday, Krishna and Balarama came to my house early in the morning. I was busy getting ready to milk the cows. When I went to the cow-shed, I found that Little Krishna, had long back untied the calf and it had drunk all the milk. When I turned, I saw him standing at a distance with a mischievous look on his face. I tried to chase him, but he disappeared into another house.” Another Gopi would start her tale, saying, “Your son is an expert thief! He creates a hundred ways to steal butter and curds from my house.

He eats up some of it and the rest, he gives to the monkeys, which eagerly wait on the trees. If he cannot reach the pots which are kept high, he throws stones and breaks the pots. He stands below with his friends, mouths wide open. They drink the curd falling from the pot.” One early morning, and Krishna looked out of his window and thought it was a nice day to do some mischief. Then he saw few monkeys, they also just woke up. Little Krishna grinned a mischievous smile with a naughty look in his eyes and waved them ‘hi’ with his playful little hands at them. And since then, they were Krishna’s friends and carried out his mischief plans each day. Another Gopi would say, “I was very careful and Krishna SEPTEMBER 2015 | WWW.WISHESH.COM

could not find anything to eat in my home. So he pinched my sleeping child. It began to cry. Laughing merrily Krishna ran away.”

26

And another complained followed as soon as the gopi finished telling her tail, “I kept the milk and curd high on a swing hanging from the ceiling. Krishna and Balarama came there, but could not reach it. So they devised a strategy. They piled up various planks. Above them, they placed the tripod which I use for churning the butter. On that Balarama climbed. Still, they could not reach. Then Krishna climbed on the back of Balarama. All the butter was swallowed. It was then, I entered the room and caught hold of Krishna. But he was fearless. And the look that he had said, as it was he, the owner of the house and I was a thief in his house”. The gopis made butter from fresh cow milks which tasted like an ice-cream. It tastes so yummy and the Little mischievous Krishna, could not resist it from having it. So he piled up a plan, with gopa balas and monkeys to reach the pot, that was kept somewhere hanging from the WWW.WISHESH.COM | SEPTEMBER 2015

ceiling. “I had just washed my house” said another, Krishna came and demanded butter. I said, ‘I have nothing to give’. Then to take revenge, when I was busy with the household work, he brought all sorts of mud from outside, and threw it all into the house and ran away”. Each Gopi narrated her own tale of woe. But all the while none was angry with Krishna. Rather, they all enjoyed his pranks. Little Krishna was all the while, listening to the tales about himself standing in a corner with a mischievous look. Yasoda was so fed up with his mischiefs and turned towards him with angry eyes. He filled his eyes with tears, Yasoda could not bear to see Krishna in tears, and took him on her lap at once. The beautiful face of Krishna, his innocent eyes and his sweet smile always haunted the minds of the Gopis. Even when Krishna is the incarnation of Lord Vishnu, as a human being he is giving a message that everything belongs to God. Innocence and Love is eternal and it will never create enimity between people.

Mr Pitchai started his career working working in engineering and product management at Applied Materials and in management consulting at McKinsey & Company. In his first job, he joined a very small company which worked as a team for Google’s search bar, Later, Pitchai suggested that the giant comes up with its own search browser. While this idea was very attractive, Page and other owners of Google, were interested in getting Mr. Pitchai join the Google team to serve the same purpose. He then joined Google in 2004 where he led the product management and innovation efforts for a suite of Google’s clients. His growth in the company was seen crystal clear when Pichai helped develop the

Chrome OS, which has been successful in schools and colleges now. He was largely responsible for Google chrome’s invention and for the development of Google drive. He introduced and oversaw the development of Google apps like Google drive, Maps and Gmail. After his invention and innovative findings, he was then made the Director in Jive Software. Though those efforts have yet to catch on, Pichai wants to expand low-end Android smartphones in emerging markets. He then headed the entire Android department. It can be noticed that his growth was very progressive and steady and gave room for Google’s head ‘Page’ to anoint him as

Giving this a closer look, we all can agree that almost all the Indian tech CEOs have been heading the product management department in their own companies. Sundar Pitchai has entrenched the idea where yesterday’s solution could easily be discarded to tomorrow’s innovations. That is the thought process that has taken him to great heights. 36

The Wall Street journal reported that Pitchai’s success can be attributed to his nature. According to reports, he is a self depreciating, empathetic, supportive and graceful navigator who delegates work at ease. He avoids confronting others, and believes more on cooperation from his team. He believes in his team and a group of amazing talents who can produce more outcome when in a cooperative set up. And so, he gives his team what they ask for. A strong communicator whose vision is far more than the goal his team has to achieve. Whatever said and done, this Indian man has managed to swamp his schedule even more by accepting to be the CEO of the world’s largest giant company-Google. His techniques and handling skills have given way to him becoming one of the highend NRI Indian CEO who has worked very hard to prove his stand today. Here’s to one of the Indian pride! MaximumNumber of Visas from

USA to Indians 38

The under secretary of Commerce for International Trade Stefan M Selig told that the USA provides maximum number of visas to Indians compared to any other country in the world. India is the major recipient of visas than any other country n the world. About 65% of all short term visas from the USA are for Indians. Mr. Stefan said that the country is working with the Indian government to meet the demand for the US visas and they are making a lot of progress on it. He is about to hold discussions with Commerce Secretary Rita Teaotia for forth coming meeting of Strategic and Commercial Dialogue in the next month at Washington. The domestic IT industry have raised serious concerns over increasing number of visa applications by Indian IT companies being rejected and even for the hike in visa fees. Generally the Indian IT WWW.WISHESH.COM | SEPTEMBER 2015

But the substantial increase in the fees for H1B and L1 categories of visas for applicants negatively impacted a lot to the Indian IT industry. On the concerns raised by the Indian IT industry, he said “I frankly have not heard those complaints in the US. The US has an open market where all companies, all countries compete freely and so I am surprised to hear that concern”.

PM’s reach out to East

40

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the United Arab Emirates has scored big on three fronts – terror, trade and outreach to the blue-collared Indian expatriate community. Modi will be the first PM to visit the Arab state in over three decades, which is also home to 2.6 million Indians. High on the PM’s agenda is for improving trade and investment relations between the two nations which is already been pegged at $60 billion per annum. Another concern that came up in the talks between the ruler of Abu Dhabi and PM Modi is the looming threat of IS or the Islamic State, that the UAE considers a threat to the region. PM Modi has also visited the iconic Sheikh Zayed mosque in Abu Dhabi that was built with marble brought in from all across the world, including India. It has the largest hand-woven carpet WWW.WISHESH.COM | SEPTEMBER 2015

in the world where thousands can offer prayers at the same time. He had a visit to a residential camp that is home to some 28,000 Indians workers. The PM visited their accommodation area and also interacted with around 300 workers. The Prime Minister’s outreach to the blue-collared skilled workers in the UAE, where they constitute almost 2.6 million is a politically astute move. He has also gone out to meet the Indian Diaspora in Dubai hosted in the Dubai Cricket Stadium, where he addressed more than 50,000 Indians. In a joint statement India and the UAE called on all countries to dismantle terrorism infrastructure where they exist and bring perpetrators of terrorism to justice. This was a significant statement, especially when

Pakistan is the unnamed country in this common ground. The fact that fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim is known to have assets in the UAE and is reportedly seen in that country, this is a major step forward. The two countries condemned efforts by the countries to use religion or justify, support and sponsor terrorism against others. They decided to coordinate efforts to counter radicalization and misuse of religion by groups. To buttress cooperation against terrorism, money-laundering and drug trafficking, they decided to have a security dialogue between the National Security Advisors of the two countries. The NSAs will meet, as frequently as every six months. During his address to the Indian Diaspora, Modi said that India and the UAE have

sent a “clear signal” against terror. “We have raised our voice against terrorism in unison from this soil. This is significant.” he said, adding “samajhnewale samajh jayenge”. “Those who are involved in terrorism should be punished. India has been a victim of terrorism for the last 40 year. The world has to decide whether you are on the side of humanity or on the side of terrorism,” he said. “There is good terrorism, bad terrorism and the good Taliban and bad Taliban formulation will not work anymore,” he said. Both countries have agreed to facilitate participation of Indian companies in infrastructure development in the UAE and promote strategic partnership in the energy sector. Modi

wooed the UAE’s investors for the infrastructure projects and opportunities of upto a trilliondollar. The two sides are able to establish the UAE-India Infrastructure Investment Fund, with the aim of reaching a target of USD 75 billion to support investment in India’s plans for rapid expansion of next generation infrastructure, especially in railways, ports, roads, airports and industrial corridors and parks. As an implicit message, the first announcement that came from Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his UAE visit was how the Emirates government has allotted land for a Hindu temple in Abu Dhabi. Modi, tweeted, the day he landed in the Gulf, and said “this is a great step”.

Parliament washout Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi told reporters today that PM Narendra Modi is scared and that the Congress will put pressure on the government to bring back Lalit Modi. 42

Washout of week 1 of monsoon session Parliament did not function for 91% of its scheduled time. One hour of Lok Sabha costs exchequer Rs 1.5 crore, Rajya Sabha Rs 1.1 crore.

Monsoon session’s agenda 11 pending bills, 9 new bills to be introduced and one to be taken up for consideration and passing. From day 1 of the monsoon session, the Congress had stepped up its agitation demanding the resignations of Swaraj and Rajasthan CM WWW.WISHESH.COM | SEPTEMBER 2015

VasundharaRaje in the Lalit Modi controversy and Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the Vyapam scam. But the government had made it clear that there wouldn’t be any resignations and requested the Congress to agree to a debate and discussion. Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi told reporters today that PM Narendra Modi is scared and that the Congress will put pressure on the government to bring back Lalit Modi. However, the Congress insisted first on resignations of the concerned persons. During the course of the

session, 25 Congress lawmakers were suspended by the Speaker for five days for raising slogans and carrying placards despite the Speaker telling not to do so. That move compelled senior Congress leaders to protest outside the Parliament. Congress president Sonia Gandhi had called it the ‘murder of democracy.’ The Congress finally moved an adjournment motion demanding a debate on the Lalit Modi affair to which Swaraj readily said yes. Eventually, there was a war of words between Swaraj and the Congress lawmakers. Swaraj denied all charges

and hit back at the Congress reminding them of the controversies the party has been involved in right from OttavioQuattrochi to Warren Anderson. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley reiterated at the end of the session that there was no question of Swaraj resigning. The virtual closing of the monsoon session without

any major business being transacted is a blow to the government which was looking to get major pending legislations, including the GST bill, passed in both houses of Parliament so as to get the economy back on track. The Congress, on the other hand, has been aiming to play the role of the main opposition party in the Lok Sabha even though its numbers are small.

Chinese devaluation of yuan, implications and The PBOC announced a 1.9 percent devaluation of the Yuan reference rate · An exchange rate adjustment may not prove the same stabilizing effect as it had 20 years ago Why Did China Devalue? Under President Xi Jinping, China has embarked on an WWW.WISHESH.COM | SEPTEMBER 2015

objective to transition its economy from one dependent on exports and outside influence to one that finds more expansion through consumer spending and other internal factors. This directive has come hand-inhand with an effort to open up the country’s financial system to better secure its place in the global economy and to use the outlet to help prevent systemic imbalances that occur as a side effect of a

closed system. The ambitious transition, however, exposed China to unforeseen developments like the Great Financial Crisis, moderation of global economic activity in recent years and the competitive monetary policy efforts adopted by other major monetary policy authorities. Major quantitative easing progress adopted by various central banks (Fed and BoE

IN BUSINESS earlier in the post-2008 slump, BoJ and ECB more recently) have seen notable spillover effects in exchange rate movement – easy transition with free-floating currencies. Yet, for the Yuan, little depreciation was realized. In fact, despite the Dollar gaining across the board in anticipation of a return to Fed rate hikes, the Yuan was still trading higher when benchmarked to 2012

46

Add to this exchange rate pressure, the recent extreme volatility in local equity markets as well as a rapid cooling of credit and lending; and more broadly influential efforts than rate cuts, shortsale bans and equity liquidity groups were needed.

Will a Weaker Yuan Help China? There is considerable debate about whether a weaker currency will truly help China. Some relief will no doubt be felt for export-centered businesses. Yet, this move does not carry the same weight it did decades ago when the economy was more trade-focused – not the least because the magnitude of the exchange rate adjustment is a fraction of previous efforts’ size. WWW.WISHESH.COM | SEPTEMBER 2015

In other stimulus efforts adopted in 2015, the objective was to deliver funds to certain parties – local governments, banks, home owners, new investors – directly. This approach will carry vague knock-on effects down the line. Looking at the USDCNY exchange rate compared to Chinese GDP (see below) does not show a distinct causation effect.

Cheaper petrol at the pump China’s apparently insatiable demand for natural resources has been a key factors supporting the price of oil in recent years. So fears that China’s economy is in trouble tend to undermine oil prices – and that probably means cheaper petrol in Britain. Of course, there are other factors, including strong oil production in the US; but global oil prices resumed their decline last week following China’s move, dipping back below $50 a barrel. In coming months, weak Chinese demand could force down the cost of many commodities, from oil to iron ore.

Delayed rate rises Central bankers in the US and the UK have been issuing

warnings for months that, with growth strengthening, they are preparing to start pushing up interest rates – reversing the emergency cuts made in the global credit crunch. Mark Carney, the Bank of England governor, has suggested “the turn of the year” might be the moment to consider tightening monetary policy (ie raising rates); Janet Yellen at the US Federal Reserve has signalled that an increase could come as early as September. However, if the cheaper yuan cuts the price of imports, this will undermine inflation, which is already at zero in the UK; and could delay a rate rise. A renewed bout of market turbulence as global investors assess the implications of China’s decision could have the same effect.

Tough times for Oz Australia has experienced an impressive economic boom in recent years on the back of selling natural resources, including coal and iron ore, to its Asian neighbours, and China accounts for more than a quarter of its exports. So weakness in the Chinese economy is bad news for Australia. Research by consultancy Oxford Economics last week, which

IN BUSINESS modelled the impact of a 10% Chinese devaluation, accompanied by a sharp slowdown, suggested other hard-hit countries could include Brazil, Russia, Chile and Korea.

Even more pain for Greece If the Chinese devaluation does bring what one City analyst, Albert Edwards, last week called a “tidal wave of deflation” to the global economy, the most vulnerable countries will be those that are heavily in debt – because while wages and profits fall in a deflationary period, the value of debts remains fixed, making them harder to service (to pay interest on). And economies where consumer demand and confidence is already weak tend to be hit harder by the reduced spending that deflation can bring. As economists at consultancy Fathom said last week, “peripheral European economies”, not least crisishit Greece, fit that definition. Greece is already suffering deflation after repeated cuts in wages and benefits as the government tries to balance the books, and if it worsens, that will only make its gargantuan debts – worth more than 170% of the size of the economy – harder to service. Real Heroes August 15th, 1947, at midnight India is declared independent. The history behind the Indian independence is very painful and is full of sacrifices. In the year 1947, June 3rd Viscount Louis Mountbatten, the last British Governor-General of India, declared that the British will leave the Indian subcontinent. Before leaving India, they had split up Indian British Empire into secular India and Muslim Pakistan. The first Prime Minister of independent India was Jawaharlal Nehru. A special session of the Constituent Assembly was held in New Delhi on the 14-15 August, 1947. The WWW.WISHESH.COM | SEPTEMBER 2015

‘Independence meeting’ began at the Council Chamber of Parliament building in New Delhi at 11 PM on August 14th, 1947. The session was chaired by the President of the Constituent Assembly, Dr Rajendra Prasad. The opening song, ‘ Vande Mataram’, was sung by Mrs Sucheta Kripalani at 11.05 PM. The Indian freedom Movement encompasses the activities and ideas aiming to end the East India Company rule from 1757 to 1858 and the continuation as the British Raj from 1858 to 1947. The freedom movement saw various national and regional

campaigns, agitations and efforts, some nonviolent and some revolutionary. The first organized militant movements were from Bengal, but they later took in to the political stage with the prominent moderate leaders seeking only their basic right to appear for the Indian Civil Service examinations, as well as more rights, economic in nature, for the people of the soil. Revolutionaries such as Subhas Chandra Bose and Bhagat Singh preached armed revolution to achieve independence. Poets & writers such as Allama Iqbal,

European traders first reached the Indian shores with the arrival of the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama in 1498 AD at the port of Calicut, in search of the lucrative spice trade. The Dutch and English established trading outposts on the subcontinent, with the first English trading post set up in Surat in 1612. During 17th and early 19th centuries, the British defeated the Portuguese and Dutch militarily and established themselves in the subcontinent. The decline of the Mughal empire in the first half of the 18th century, provided the British with the opportunity to seize a firm foothold in Indian politics. Vasco da Gama elites sought to rid Hinduism of controversial social practices, including the Varna caste system, child marriage and Sati. Literary and debating societies established in Calcutta (Kolkata) and Bombay (Mumbai) became forums for open political discourse. Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja was one of the earliest freedom fighters in India between 1774 and 1805. The British ruthlessly killed all his followers and their families. of India. He was captured and hanged in 1799. Paik Rebellion gave the nation the first direction towards the war for Independence. In September 1804 the King of Khurda, Kalinga, was deprived of the traditional rights of the Jagannath Temple. In October 1804 a group of armed Paiks attacked the British at Pipili. Jayee Rajguru the chief of Army of Kalinga, requested all the Kings of the State to join hands for a common cause against the British. The Kings of Kujang Odisha, Kanika, Harishpur, Marichipur and others made an alliance with the King of Khurda and prepared themselves for the battle. The garrison of the Vellore Fort in July 1806 comprised four companies of British infantry from H.M. 69th (South Lincolnshire) Regiment of Foot and three battalions of Madras infantry. The period of the Second World War saw the peak of the freedom movement by the Quit India movement and the Indian National Army (INA) movement and others, eventually resulting in the withdrawal of the British. S

ometimes there are certain things that are way better than just sex. Penetration is obviously one of the best ways to enjoy with your partner, but there are some other ways that will make sure your partner is aroused and is having a good time. Have you heard of sensual massages? Well, sensual massages are the old age method of getting your partner interested in having sex with you. What is so special about it, you may think. But wait until you give or experience one. If your partner comes home after a tired day and needs some physical rest, you can ignite the rush between the two of you, using massage as one of your main options. New to massages? Don’t worry! We have a list of techniques you can use to give a great and sensual massage which will definitely improve your sex life.

Top massage tips for better sex life Take a bath Firstly, before you start, remember that your partner has to not sleep or doze

off half way through the massage. Try to take a warm shower with him. Pour in some essential oils in your bath tub and get started. The bath will give his muscles to relax and help him get ready for the massage. Also, if he is back after a tired day, the bath will help him wake up from the sleepy mood and turn into a romantic/sexy mood. Get into the water if you want to. This will ignite things for both of you and the mood will be set even before the massage technique starts.

Make him comfortable If you are doing this for the first few times, there are chances he will shy off or feel uncomfortable. But, don’t pay heed to all this. It doesn’t mean he dislikes it, it just means he is shy or is feeling awkward being naked all of a sudden. To reduce the embarrassment, go naked for him and give him the massage. Start with his foot. There are a thousand nerve endings in a man’s back and neck. So starting from his foot will slowly increase the nervous system’s pressure. Set the mood

Even before you make him lay down on the bed or massage table, try to set the mood of the room. It is best to have dim lights for this. This will set the romantic mood. Candles are the most preferred, but keep a check on the temperature of your room. Before anything, spray your room with scented perfume or light up the scented candles to make it appropriate for the light and mood of the set up. Playing relaxing or romantic music will add up to the atmosphere. Remember to grab a towel for him so that the oils don’t spill on the bed.

Store some quality essential oils Oils are the most important part of the entire process. A massage gets better only when you have the right kind of oil and know what to do with the oil. Kamasutra’s massage, essential oil not only smells great, but also has all the right kind of ingredients which take good care of the skin and makes sure not to irritate the skin or burn. You can use the following suggestions for the best kind SEPTEMBER 2015 | WWW.WISHESH.COM

Sandalwood oil – Sandalwood oil increases libido levels while massaging itself, which acts as a bonus for you.

There are tons of other options in the market, but these above are tested-tried and are the best in expert opinion which also act as lubricant while intercourse.

Start using the technique You need to make sure that you have applied a lot of oil on his body and oil on your hands. Then start using the technique of moving your hand in circular motion and use thumb for the pressure that should turn into long glides with high pressure and faster movements. areas. Focus on back and lower back when you massage the back portion. Divide his lower and upper back and massage each part for a maximum 15 minutes. Try to use more thumb, but also remember not to stick with just one kind of stroke. Experiment with strokes and go to different parts of the back. Shoulder, arms, middle shoulder, sides and much more. Ask him to turn to the front and make him lay on his back. This is where you can get creative. Start massaging his chest, hands and then come down to his penis. This is where you have to be totally experimental. You might want to cover your hands with oil and start massaging the little man slowly. Spend some time in that area and wait for him to get aroused. Finger stroking can be a good idea when he starts getting aroused. Give him a good head using your hand only. You may not want to use your mouth with oil. Give him a relaxing experience and blow his mind away with a great finish.

Other things to remember Ø While massaging your guy, sit on his bum, which will

arouse him even more Ø Make sure your hands are warm and not cold. Bare body and cold hands will never go hand in hand. Use the oil to rub your hands and decrease the temperature of the room if needed Ø You might also consider asking him for opinions when you put pressure on his areas. Ø To take it to the next level, take him into a sensual bath post massage and continue to have a hot shower sex to top it all. These will definitely make you the queen in his heart. Thank us for now, and go ahead and enjoy!

Indian History

The Vedic age of Hindustan

H

industan – Guru of Universe The Vedic age of Hindustan is in about 1500 BC and extends upto 6000 BCE with the coming of the Aryans, who has scattered on the plains of northern India. Max Muller believes it as an anomaly with regard to the race as Aryan because scientifically Aryan connotes nothing but language.

80

The relationship between the race and language of these people with the classical languages of Europe was established by a Bavarian Franz Bopp in 1816. Aryans developed Vedic culture based on Vedas. The meaning of the word Veda is “knowledge”, the best of all knowledge in the eyes of Hindus. It is a collection of hymns, prayers, charms, litanies and sacrificial formulae. There are four Vedas, namely, Rig Veda, Sam Veda, Yajur Veda and Atharva Veda. aAt About 1500 BC, Hindustan was invaded by Indo-European people. They came from the area between the Black Sea and the Caspian sea. Between 2500 and 2000 BC, many Indo-Europeans have WWW.WISHESH.COM | SEPTEMBER 2015

Migration Map migrated all over the Eurasia. Some of the Indo-Europeans went to Europe and became the Romans and the Greeks; some settled in Turkey and became the Hittites or went east to China and influenced the Shang Dynasty. Others migrated towards south-east. Some of them stopped in Iran, while others continued towards south-east to Pakistan and India. The slow migration did not arrive in northern India until about 1500 BC. The Indo-Europeans are called the Aryans. The Indo-Europeans brought their language, and also their gods with them to Hindustan. These gods form the basis of the Rig Veda and other sagas

which were first written down in Sanskrit. They also brought the domesticated horse and chariot. The Vedic people first settled along the Indus River, in the same place where the Harappa’s lived. They settled down and mixed with the local Indian people. They lived there from about 1500 BC to about 800 BC. At this time the caste system got started. About 800 BC, the Vedic people learned how

Indian History to use iron for weapons and tools. They learned to work with iron from the people of West Asia, the Assyrians, who had learned it from the Indo-European Hittites. Once the Vedic people learned how to use iron, they used their new weapons to conquer and moved to the south and east of the Ganges river valley. They settled there not long after 800 BC. The commonly proposed period of earlier Vedic age is dated back to 2nd millennium BCE. After the collapse of the Indus Valley Civilisation, which ended ca. 1900 BCE, groups of Indo-Aryan peoples migrated into north-western India and started to inhabit the northern Indus Valley. The knowledge about the Aryans comes mostly from the Rigveda-samhita, which was composed between ca. 1500– 1200 BCE. They brought with them their distinctive religious traditions and practices. The Vedic beliefs and practices of the pre-classical era were closely related to the hypothesised Proto-IndoEuropean religion, And the Indo-Iranian religion. as people who do not perform sacrifices (akratu) or obey the commandments of gods (avrata). Internecine military conflicts between the various tribes of Vedic Aryans are described in the Rig Veda. Most notable of such conflicts was the Battle of Ten Kings which took place on the banks of the river Parushni (modern day Ravi). The battle was fought between the tribe Bharatas, led by their chief Sudas, against a confederation of ten tribes - Puru, Yadu, Turvasha, Anu, Druhyu, Alina, Bhalanas, Paktha, Siva, Vishanin. Bharatas lived around the upper regions of the river Saraswati, while Purus are their western neighbours who lived along the lower regions of Saraswati. Rig Vedic society was relatively egalitarian in the sense that a distinct hierarchy of socio-economic classes or castes was absent. The words Brahamana and Kshatriya

occur in various family books of the Rig Veda, but they are not associated with the term varna. The words Vaishya and Shudra are absent. The Vedic household was patriarchal and patrilineal. The institution of marriage was important and different types of marriages - monogamy, polygyny and polyandry are mentioned in the Rig Veda. The wife enjoyed a respectable position, People consumed milk, milk products, grains, fruits and vegetables. Clothes of cotton, wool and animal skin were worn. Flute (vana), lute (vina), harp, cymbals, and drums were the musical instruments played and a heptatonic scale was used. Dancing, dramas, chariot racing, etc. were other popular pastimes.

SEPTEMBER 2015 | WWW.WISHESH.COM

Automobiles Volvo Autopilot Cars react faster than you Picture this – You are driving in a car to your workplace in the bustling traffic that looks quite like furious and not fast, cut to, having a sumptuous breakfast, after reading a book, and throwing a glance at your spreadsheets, with hands free auto drive. Or you might as well catch up on that sleep No Prizes for guessing as Volvo is en route to making a self drive car, will just make it possible by 2017. 86

Volvo Cars’ Drive Me pilot program announced last week will push autonomous driving a step closer to reality by putting 100 self-driving XC90 crossovers on Swedish streets by 2017. The vehicles will be driven by ordinary people in Volvo’s home city of Gothenburg using a controlled 31-mile route. They’ll be used for daily commuting on roads with a barrier between the lanes and operate “in real traffic in a real situation,” the company said. The trial will run until the spring of 2019. Heard that Apple Inc., trying to catch up, is also trying to WWW.WISHESH.COM | SEPTEMBER 2015

make a self driving car, but, the Chinese-owned group is locked in a race with its Japanese competitors Nissan and US Internet giant Google to be the first to put fully automated cars into circulation.

The Technology behind self driving cars The technology is based on communication between transmitters in vehicles and the road infrastructure, and makes it possible to transmit information about local icy or slippery road patches from one car to other vehicles. Vehicles communicating with each other and with road signs, traffic lights and other infrastructure enables vital information to be shared -creating a more comfortable and safer drive. The autonomous vehicles will use a network of sensors, cloud-based positioning systems and intelligent braking and steering technologies. “We are entering uncharted territory in the field of autonomous driving,” said Peter Mertens, senior vice president of r&d of the Volvo Car Group. “Taking the exciting step to a public pilot,

with the ambition to enable ordinary people to sit behind the wheel in normal traffic on public roads, has never been done before.” Volvo is collaborating with Swedish authorities. The cars will be leased to drivers, but they won’t be charged for the full cost of the technology. Volvo experts discussed the project during an Internet press conference.

So, What is the new Autopilot system in Volvo cars? They’ll use a new Volvo autopilot system that allows the vehicle to take over steering, turning, braking and parking. The trial will run on specific public roadways “without oncoming traffic, cyclists and pedestrians,” Volvo said. “It is relatively easy to build and demonstrate a self-driving concept vehicle, but if you want to create an impact in the real world, you have to design and produce a complete system that will be safe, robust and affordable for ordinary customers,” said Erik Coelingh, a Volvo technical specialist.

The driver will be able to take control in critical situations, Volvo said. Volvo said it has built in failsafe systems, similar to those in the aircraft industry, so that the autopilot system continues to work if an element is disabled. For instance, the vehicles will have a second, independent brake system. The system also will prompt the driver to take over during “exceptional weather conditions, technical malfunction or the end of the route,” Volvo said. “If the driver is incapacitated for any reason and does not take over in time, the car will bring itself to a safe place to stop.”

And Who does it cater to? “The customer demand

is high -- commuters in megacities -- road conditions are appropriate, and the authorities are positive,” said Karl-Johan Runnberg, director of government affairs for Volvo Cars. Runnberg said the cost of an autonomous-driving system won’t be much higher than that of today’s active-safety and driver-support systems. Volvo will disclose which suppliers it is working with closer to launch, he said. The 2016 XC90 that goes on sale in May already has some of the systems -- including three radar systems and four cameras. The sensor technology and algorithms will be reused for the self-driving cars. Volvo experts said the technology for the pilot project is “producible in the near

future.” “By putting it into the real world, we will find limitations, we will learn and we will adapt,” said Coelingh. “Within this limited scope, we can verify if it is safe.” The vehicles will have data recorders similar to an airplane’s black box so Volvo can determine the cause if a crash occurs. In a bid to bring ‘the future’ to the present, technologies are evolving beyond common imagination with brilliance not failing to to impress every time. However, technologies than challenge the Humans’ ability will have a testing phase incurring some loss in terms of disasters. Kudos to the relentless efforts to all the technicians and engineers involved! SEPTEMBER 2015 | WWW.WISHESH.COM

The other alternative, especially for north or west facing houses recommended by Vaastu is the North-West area, being the air zone and is vital for burning activity. However, The other directions preferred can be East and South Zone to prevent the smoke and cooking fumes from entering into the living/ working area which might affect the health of the family.

Direction for cooking

To relish the good taste and for proper health of the family cooking hobs should be ideally positioned in such a way that one is facing east while preparing food. In case of a kitchen placed in NorthWest corner of the house, one can also face west while cooking. Cooking while facing Northeast/North can result into heavy expenditure, difference of opinion, and mental unrest. In many situations cervical problems, pain in the

primeval. The changes of the body do not affect the soul. The soul is full of knowledge or with consciousness. Therefore, consciousness is the symptom of the soul.

Explanation of the Verse The body is subject to six kinds of transformations. It takes birth in the womb of the mother’s body, remains for some time, grows, produces some effects, gradually dwindles, and at last vanishes into oblivion. The soul, does not go through such changes. The soul is not born, but, it takes on a material body, the body takes its birth. The soul does not take birth and hence the soul does not die. The soul has no birth, therefore has no past, present or future. It is eternal, ever-existing and

The Supreme Lord by declaring the eternal soul is not born confirms the absence of any birth and by declaring the eternal soul does not die confirms the absence of any destruction. The living entity and the Supreme Lord are both irrevocably established as unborn, eternal and indestructible. Death is merely the separation of the embodied soul from the physical body leaving it lifeless. The imperishable soul which pervades in the physical body of all living entities is aja or unborn and thus it is known to be eternal and constant only by changing its external embodied form. The soul being eternal without any need to increase, remains as it is and is changeless. Hence the soul being bereft of any of the six modifications of the physical body and can never be destroyed even when the physical body is destroyed.

Festival of Colors, lights, tradition and customs

96

Onam is the biggest and the most important festival of the state of Kerala. It is a harvest festival and is celebrated with joy and enthusiasm all over the state by people of all communities. According to a popular legend, the festival is celebrated to welcome King Mahabali, whose spirit is said to visit Kerala at the time of Onam.Onam is celebrated in the beginning of the month of Chingam, the first month of Malayalam Calendar (Kollavarsham). This corresponds with the month of AugustSeptember, according to Gregorian Calendar.

WWW.WISHESH.COM | SEPTEMBER 2015

Indian Events History The association of Onam with Thrikkakara temple goes back to decades. It is one of the few temples in the India that is dedicated to Lord Vamana. Thrikkakara temple is situated in Thrikkakara, a village Panchayat in Kochi. The temple is the center for all the Onam related celebrations over the world and is considered to have been the adobe of King Mahabali. It is also believed that King Mahabali’s presence is felt on the 10 day festivals galore. During Onam, a pyramidal statue of Vamana is placed in the temple and worshipped. King Mahabali is said to have been sent to the underworld Patala by Lord Vamana with his foot, hence marking the genesis of the Onam festival. The etymology of the name Thrikkakara ('place of the holy foot') is also derived this way.

Legend Mahabali, an Asura(demon) was the son of Devamba and Virochana. He grew up under his grandfather, Prahalada, who installed a strong sense of righteousness and devotion in him. Bali succeeded Virochana as the King of Asuras

by wrestling with Indra and other Devas. The devas then approached their patron Vishnu and entreated him to restore Indra’s throne over Heaven. In heaven, Bali was advised by Sukracharya to perform Ashwamedha Yaga so as to maintain his rule over the three worlds. Vishnu, disguised as Vamana to help the other devas of the heaven. A small Brahmin boy, Vamana approached Bali and requested for a grant. The grant asked by Vamana was land, although only as much land as he could cover with three paces. After repeated warnings from Bali’s guru, Bali went ahead and granted the boon to Vamana. Vamana then grew to an immense size, and, with his first pace, traversed all of the earth and the underworld. With his second pace, he covered Heaven in its entirety. This led Bali to accept his defeat against Vamana. Bali offered his own head as a stepping-stone. Mahabali made a request to the Lord Vishnu that he wanted to meet his people once a year; Lord Vishnu granted his wish and that is how it is indicated that the King comes every year during Onam time to visit the festival to Kerala.

What's it about. When you’re watching an official remake of the much-acclaimed Hollywood film, Warrior, you pretty much know what’s in store. But director Karan Malhotra changes a few things to add his touch of ingenuity and ends up tampering with what was actually sensible. The film opens with an ex-fighter Gary Fernandes (Jackie Shroff) walking out of prison after completing his term for a crime he had committed that changed his life forever. His elder son David (Akshay Kumar) has disowned Gary because of that and also cut off ties with his younger ‘adopted’ brother Monty (Sidharth Malhotra). David is facing his own personal and financial battles as he and his wife Jenny (Jacqueline) cope with their daughter suffering from a kidney ailment. David, a schoolteacher, has been indulging in street fights to make the extra cash. But when an international MMA (mixed martial arts) tournament decides to hold stage in Mumbai, David decides to take part in it to earn enough to save his daughter’s life. At the same time, Monty also wants to win the tournament to earn respect in his father’s eyes. What eventually happens in the ring and how it changes the family’s destiny is what the rest of the film is about.

real, a lot of hard work has gone in making sure they look authentic. You will be rooting for Akshay through out the second half, and the climax fight between him and Sidharth is a major highlight. Kareena Kapoor Khan’s Mary song is everything glamorous that you expect from an item track.

''Brothers is a

decent watch, but if you want your money’s worth, then I recommend watching the original Warrior.''

What's hot. Karan Malhotra divides the film in two clear halves. The pre-interval story focusses on the dynamics between the brothers and their flashback, while the second packs a solid action packed punch. Jackie Shroff steals the show in several scenes. Mind you, in the original, Nick Nolte got nominated for an Oscar for this role, and it won’t come as surprise if Jackie too is acknowledged next year for his work in Brothers. Right from his fragile body language to his emotional outburst, Jackie gets it right every time. Akshay is a perfect cast as the elder brother David who will go to any extent to save his daughter. He not only looks the part, but also brings in a lot of emotions in his scenes with Sidharth. The fight scenes look SEPTEMBER 2015 | WWW.WISHESH.COM

Story Srimanthudu is the concept of Harsha (Mahesh Babu) who is the son of a millionaire Ravi Kanth (Jagapathi Babu). He has his own plans and dreams about his career but he has been forced to take over the business by his father. This is the time he meets Charuseela (Sruthi Haasan) and comes to know about Rural Development Programs. In this process he gets attracted to her ideologies and gets inspired for them. At the same time he falls in love with her and he comes to know about the roots of his family and his village Devarakonda. He then decides to adopt the village and develop it. with the entire family to get connected. Mahesh's terrific performance and the emotional episodes make the film a must watch.

Superstar Mahesh Babu is undoubtedly the main asset for the film. His characterization along with the one liners and his presence on screen has been taken care well.

Analysis The first half of the film has been fresh and entertaining through it. It takes some time to know about the characters in the movie and Mahesh’s one liners have been outstanding throughout. The songs have been shot beautifully and the content has been handled with utmost care. The emotional episodes have been balanced well and the racy pre interval episodes make the film catch pace. On the whole the first half of the film has been dominating and decent. For a film like Srimanthudu which has been casted with stars, the second half is crucial and as expected the second half of the film has been filled with racy action episodes and huge dose of emotional drama. The scenes connect straight with the audience and have lot of impact. Though there are scenes that have been boring, the complete second half of the movie has been outstanding and the climax has been short and simple. On the whole the second half is a perfect take in all the aspects.
