SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO TEAM RUBICON The Administration, the Staff and the Entire Missão Para Juventude Family are greatly indebted to CFO for connecting us with TEAM RUBICON-it was indeed a worthy gesture!- it is regrettably unfortunate that this team came when our publicity department did not have a camera, there could have been wonderful pictures accompanying this letter. TEAM RUBICON, your coming was not without incident. Unfavorable circumstances occurred, threatening both our preparedness and readiness to receive you just before you came, but you did come. On your arrival, unfavorably circumstances occurred threatening to hinder you from accomplishing your mission, but you did accomplish your mission, and you did it very well and effectively, why? Because you are RUBICON– a point of no return– that is what your name means, and you lived up to it. At the same time through the fervent prayers of our staff and orphans, the manifestation of God`s divine favor concerning the customs at the airport and the release of medication by customs in Chimoio can not go unnoticed. Be encouraged that this was proof that your mission was a divine one. At the right time when you had just arrived one of our staff`s child, Cherish, needed just the attention you gave her, what a welcome, and a message that you had come for really business! We know how hostile a trip from the airport it was, especially considering the potholes of our sub-standard roads and the fact that some of you were uncomfortably squeezed in our Director`s vehicle, and worse more others endured the chilly wind at the back of the vehicle for more than 200 kilometers, which also became the order of the day in all your operations. Despite all that never were your spirits down, you were always cheerful and committed as ever.

What a lesson it was for all of us back here! You were such a challenge to us especially through your display of teamwork, professionalism, humility and simplicity, you were easy to associate with considering your backgrounds and professional accomplishments. We learnt a lot from each of you and we have a lot of testimonies from our children highlighting both your professionalism and effectiveness– most of our doctors here are considered as `untouchables`and therefore have no time to explain satisfactorily to the patients, an example is one given by one of our girls the day you left our orphanage, who said that the way your team talked to them about their health problems was unknown to them before. Also of particular significance was the fact that Dr Glenn said that he himself came from a poor background but was taught to give back to communities of similar circumstances, we are used to a situation whereby if one makes it in life from a poor background, it is his or her own hard earned achievement and therefore has to selfishly enjoy all the merits. But among you guys we saw a degree of selflessness especially considering the fact that you were doing it for people you don't even know. We have no doubt that you were God sent to Mozambique and we deeply believe there is a divine purpose for that and look forward to more similar encounters. It is our prayers that Doctor Glenn`s desire to work in Africa, particularly in Mozambique and hopefully in our area would be fulfilled.

We are grateful that even though we could not get authorization for you to treat the communities, we were allowed to use you in our religious activities and as a result we concentrated on our orphanage and those of other Christian friends. We thank God that at our orphanage in Bengo, where you spent two days (Tuesday&Wednesday) you managed to see more than 60 patients including our staff members. The following day we took you to Maforga Christian Mission about 15 kilometers from our place, where again for two days ( Thursday & Friday) more than 100 children and some staff members were treated. On Saturday we took you to `The Home of The Sparrow` an orphanage in the town of Nhamatanda in Sofala province where you treated about 80 children. On Sunday you braved the chilly weather again as we returned to Sofala but at that time our destination was an open care center in Micuzi about 13 kilometers out of Nhamatanda, where more than 100 children were treated. We are also very grateful to the fact that as a round-up to your mission, you took some of our staff, (those who were with you in most of your trips) for a Safari Tour in the Gorongosa National Park, what a worthy tour it was! Thank you guys. May the Good Lord see you through in all your endeavors, and may He grant you all the desires of your hearts. You may not be preachers by mouth but you are by actions! Muito Obrigado! We love you all. Please do come again!
