CHAPTER ONE MEMORIES
DAY ONE "Tired of a long trip. Scared of not fitting but excited! First "hello" with other participants was great!"
We loved the creative "Ice breaking games". Gestures, dances, finding our names, exchangin letters, it was great afternoon!
DAY TWO
Day two was full of teambuilding. First we had "Mission (Im)Possible", later we survived an adventure in forest. It was an orienteering game created by major of Slawkow.
DAY THREE
Day three was full of theatre! We were learning how to speak, how to move, how to improvise. It was a theatre of tolerance!
This day we have established our own university, where we had a discussion about tolerance, exclusion and human rights. It was a good lesson, during which we were students and teachers at the same time.
DAY FOUR This day we have visited local school. We meet with a representative of Polish Ombudsman, who told us about citizen's rights.
We have also conducted workshops about human rights in our countries.
Grzegorz Krawiec, representative of Polish ombudsman.
DAY FIVE This day we had workshops created by Lithuanian leader. We were working in groups, discovering various topics. Together we have created the flashmob. We were using skills acquired during theatre workshops. We had many many ideas. After two hours of preparation we got it!
DAY SIX This day we have spent outside our place. We visited Bedzin and Katowice. We started our trip with visit in Bedzin, a culturaly diversed city with history. We have discovered II World War Underground Shelter built by Jewish and Polish prisoners.
Finnaly we visited Katowice, where we have performed our happening.
DAY SEVEN
Time to say goodbye!
CHAPTER TWO THE HAPPENING
At the beginning we had many ideas. We were brainstorming, discussing, working in groups just to make this final idea, which we would implement. We have created few ideas that were taken under concideration. Inspiration - This idea was based on mimicking people from our surroundings. We would take an idea from the street (for example somebody is using telephone), we would act like we are doing the same thing. Then when the person would start to look around, be stressed, we would reveal the information that this was only a happening about tolerance. In this case we wanted to show that trying to fit someone, be exactly the same is not the way to build united society. Picking on somebody - This idea was a controversial, but yet very powerful. We would pick a person, approach him/her and ask if the person is willing to take part in an experiment. If the person would express her desire to take part in the experiment, everybody from the exchange would point at her screaming "Hey, you there!". Later the person would be asked how he/she felt during this experiment. The purpouse of this event would be to show people around, how harmful and uncomfortable it is to pick on a particular person, group of people. It happens all the time around us, we have to fight it to build a united, full of tolerance society.
The winning idea was to pay compliments to random people. We loved it from the beginning. It was simple, powerful, nice, and had potential to make people smile. It turned out great. We were approaching everybody. Elderly people, teenagers, foreginers, straight couples, homosexual couples, everybody. Becouse everybody is equal. Everybody is beautiful.
CHAPTER THREE TOGETHER AGAIN
During the project we have discovered tools connected with theatre. These tools were really helpful to create our show entitled "Letting the tolerance out!". The spectacle took place in 'Liceum Ogolnoksztalcace nr II im. Stanislawa Wyspianskiego w Bedzinie' highschool connected with the project. Participants and leaders of our project were students, former students and teachers of the school.
During the show we were using improvisation theatre. It is a form of theatre with is no script or scenario. There is also no director. Everything is directed by the audience. The audience gives suggestions, the audience modifies short scenes, the audience is evertything in this form of art. Topic of our show was tolerance so all the suggestions were connected with the topic. Ok, so how to recreate this show? Is it difficult? No! It is really simple! Improvisation theatre is famous for games which are short theatrical forms. Below you can see an example. "The Evil Twin" You need 4 players for this improv game. 2 will improvize a scene. The other players are the other`s evil twins. At any point, the `twins` can shout `freeze` after which they tag out their twin, and continue the scene and do something evil. After that, they move out again, and the original twin brother needs to justify the evil, correct or repair the damage done and continue the scene. "Emotional Replay" 2-3 players on stage. Audience is giving the topic of the scene. Players perform short, max 1-2 miutes long scene. Later the audience is telling players with what emotion they should perform the same scene again.
