Site + Site Characteristics + Concept The general design strategy/idea is to create volumes that follows the triangular shape of the site. The most important consideration for the layout is to map out enough space to accommodate the turning radius of fire trucks. So the apparatus bay is naturally situated at the wider end of the triangle Considering that the occupants will be on a twenty-four hour shift, it is important to create conducive living spaces that open up to a central courtyard.

Massing + Zones
The design process involved creating three distintive spaces; the Apparatus bay with it services spaces, the living area which is divided up into offices in the lower level and sleeping area in the upper floor, and lastly the community area. The volume housing th living area is then cut through to let light and air in. This move also creates a green space within the living area and also give room for private and public circulation.

Preliminary design: the approach was to make the roof and the facade a continous system which extends all the way to the ground and becomes planters with storm water system underneat. The roof + Facade system will also extend outwards, providing shading for the building.

The facade is designed to allow for easy maintenance. The alumunium panels curve gently and become part of the roof. Apart from guiding rain water into the planters and storm water thanks, the smooth, seamless design will also make it easy to wash the building.

Seamless Roof + Facade System The Roof and the facade are designed to appear as one smooth, seamless system. At the East and West sides of the structure, the roof + facade sytem seem as one continuous element and flows all the way to the ground and become green spaces for plants. The whole system is curved and sloped gently to let rain wash down the facde and into a storm water system.
Renderings Office spaces facing north. Floor to ceiling windows to let in ample natural light. The offices, Gym and the library are located on the first level with courtyard to the south and huge windows to the north.
Courtyard space. This spaace help bring in air and light into the interior spaces. the Space opens up from the north to the south side of the station. This also serves as a passge that connects the front and the back of the building.
