Integrity

Wolcott Architecture Interiors (WAI) vertical team structure has proven to be most effective to ensure successful project delivery. WAI’s deep bench of experience and multi-disciplined teams provide clients with the full knowledge based resources of the firm. As a matter of practice, the teams utilize 3-D modeling during the design phase to better communicate concepts to the client as well as defining the design intent for a general contractor to ensure accurate pricing. Utilization of the 3-D modeling minimizes the need for value engineering and often allows for added flexibility during the design process. WAI’s vertically integrated team structure ensures effective and efficient communication to deliver complete, comprehensive and on time deliverables. All communication is direct and focused through the project team, whether it be client, landlord or consultants. Meetings are scheduled and held with key client stakeholders (whether individual or committee) to ensure that comprehensive and appropriate program data is obtained. Project and organizational objectives are consolidated, reviewed internally and finally presented to the client in order to develop consensus driven and approved project goals. This organizational philosophy and team structure positively influence project control on all fronts, starting with design and continuing through document preparation, construction, client move-in and ultimately the successful close out of the job.

Real D

RealD, the industry leader in digital stereoscopic image projection, called on Wolcott to design their new 32,000 square foot Beverly Hills headquarters. The client challenged the team to design a space that reflected their cutting edge technology, incorporated dynamic media elements, and boldly expresses design in 3-dimensions. The two-floor space includes an interconnecting stair that leads from the second floor collaboration hub known as ‘Times Square’ down to a screening room where the client showcases their latest technology. The space was designed with a combination of open ceiling and finished areas that serve to define the design and delineate private / public spaces. The team used a variety of materials and textures to express the dimensional aesthetic; wood, glass, metal, acoustic felt, polished concrete, and a twisted stainless steel sculpture suspended over the stair. A coup for the project was getting an LED color changing exterior building top sign the first in Beverly Hills.

Playboy

When looking to relocate their Chicago headquarters and consolidate southern California operations, Playboy turned to the Wolcott design team. The iconic global adult entertainment and lifestyle media company selected a 45,000 square foot two-story space in the former Hilton Hotel headquarters building in Beverly Hills. The design team collaborated with the client to transform the space into an environment characterized as a modern translation with a vintage quality harkening back to Playboy’s sexy and sophisticated roots. The space was accented with numerous pieces of classic furniture in the common areas with environmental graphics further reinforcing the rich history and enhancing the Playboy brand.

Recording Academy (NARAS)

The Recording Academy is to the Grammys what the Motion Picture Academy is to the Oscars. This distinguished organization realized a move was necessary to accomplish expansion plans related to their strategic vision. Wolcott was commissioned to design interiors for the 2-story, 66,000 square foot space in the newly constructed Lantana East Development. Strategic goals and objectives for the organization influenced the plan and the directed the design to reflect the history and tenure of the organization as well as acknowledging the future of new media. The office features a 2-story lobby with a water wall element and an integrated display chronicling the history of recording. The facility, which accommodates the executive and administrative offices, has an aesthetic infused with iconic images that pay tribute to the recording industry. The new space which is LEED Gold is also ideally suited for accommodating functions that utilize both indoor and outdoor areas.

Entertainment/ Media

Animation Studio

Wolcott was selected by a major entertainment company to design a new home for its growing direct to video animation division. The team was charged with converting an old warehouse facility into a multi-functional production facility that included employee amenities such as fitness center, cafĂŠ, and garden areas. The team met the challenges of adapting the existing 90,000 square foot single-story into an organized and functional production facility.

The new facility not only houses the administrative and artistic staff but also story rooms, conference areas, editorial bays, a recording studio and screening rooms. The heavily involved client helped the WAI team understand the flow of production and its requisite needs while the designers provided interior finishes and overall aesthetic concept. The exterior was created as entire gated campus with landscaped courtyards and water features. While the interior space is characterized by punctuated color, graphics, open lid conference rooms and lounge areas.

Entertainment

Lifestyle Company

Wolcott Architecture Interiors was enlisted to design a headquarters for a lifestyle, fitness, and nutritional supplement company. The new facility, situated in Lantana South, consists of a two-story, 43,000 square-foot space with a multifunctional core that incorporates reception, an interactive lounge, integrating space for presentation, conferencing, and company functions. Use of Moveo glass walls on the conference rooms maximizes the capability for open space.

WAI incorporated super-graphic images of the active lifestyle in the main lobby and designed a fitness room to express the high energy of the brand. Also unique to the design was the incorporation of a conceptualized ‘quarter mile’ track as part of the main circulation. The track, made of recycled rubber tire material, reinforces the client’s focus on health, wellness and fitness. The combination of all these design elements achieved a LEED Gold certification.

Corporate

Participant Media

Participant Media, a multi-faceted entertainment production company, chose Wolcott to design their new signature headquarters space in Beverly Hills. The company, producers of the Oscar winning documentary, ‘An Inconvenient Truth’, occupy 18,000 square feet in a Ehrlich designed LEED certified building. The carefully planned interiors accommodate executive, administrative, production, and marketing staffs that required the incorporation of a variety of work styles; private offices, workstations, benching, conference rooms, and ah-hoc meeting spaces. The Wolcott team integrated supergraphics into the space to express the firm’s product and energize the environment. Acknowledging the LEED base building construction, the team chose sustainable materials such as cork, reclaimed lumber, and rapidly renewable woods to adhere to Beverly Hills civic guidelines as well as satisfy client directives.

Entertainment

Sundance Institute

The institute, founded in 1981, incubated, developed and grew into a legitimate and respected organization. As the organization expanded and matured, it was able to better define its mission and culture, which was not reflected in the existing space built-out. The new design objective was to consolidate onto one floor, provide an open and collaborative plan rather than express the typical entertainment model. The new 14,000 square foot space called for an open and transparent design aesthetic that maximized day lighting and views. As an internationally recognized nonprofit organization working with independent artists, it was important to design a space that reflected their mission “to discover and develop independent artists and audiences across the globe. The space was developed with a minimalist and simplified style. The space also reflects the aesthetic of an energizing and creative environment that is inspirational, as well as traditional. This goal was translated in the space through the use of wall graphics of inspirational quotes and imagery and somewhat irregular space planning.

Live Nation Entertainment

Anchoring the west end of the Hollywood redevelopment area, home to the Hollywood & Highland retail complex and the Kodak Theater (home of the Academy Awards), Live Nation chose to occupy a signature tower at 7060 Hollywood Boulevard. The former medical office building was given a complete ‘facelift’. The fully demolished floors were redesigned by the WAI team to maximize views of the Hollywood Hills to the north and LA city to the south. The extensive use of glass fronts on the offices serves to maximize natural light. The design team incorporated graphics throughout the space to express the client’s business and energize the rather contemporary aesthetic. Film was applied to the glass office fronts for semi-privacy; the image being a bar code that spells ‘Live Nation’. Careful planning with consultants helped organize the mechanical systems and maintain openness within the limited 10’-6’’height. A simple color palette of red and white dominates the space to reinforce the Live Nation brand.

Entertainment

Principato Young Entertainment

Wolcott Architecture | Interiors (WAI) was selected to develop an innovative and creative environment for the offices of Principato Young Entertainment (PYE). As a cutting-edge comedy talent production entity, PYE is known for delivering TV, film and other media productions representative of comedy’s next generation. WAI was committed to delivering the same level of cutting-edge design for the new space. The WAI team collaborated with the client to design a space that was organic and had a curvilinear flow to take advantage of and respond to existing building architecture. Working along with PYE, the selected color pallet and finish patterning was derivative of a design aesthetic that reflected mid-century eclecticism. The eclecticism was further reinforced by the integration of contrast in finish textures of various woods, stains, furniture, and artwork. The patterning in the carpet for the main conference rooms was inspired by the vintage movie “Houses in Hollywood.” Glass was incorporated into the design to promote an “active” office, increase transparency and openness to encourage collaboration.
