What the L?

UK Building Regulations, Part L – Conservation of Fuel and Power, has recently been updated to cut CO2 emissions from our homes.

What this means for you as an installer

Water quality checking, maintenance and protection will need to be carried out at every heating system installation, service and repair. Essentially, when working on, preparing or commissioning a heating system, new or existing, the heating system water needs to be treated so it complies with BS 7593:2019.

How to prove compliance to the new regulations

You can show you’ve complied with Part L by completing the digital Benchmark certification through the new Benchmark for Installers app or through the Benchmark website (benchmark.org.uk). This demonstrates that you’re complying with BS 7593:2019, which in turn shows that you’re complying with Part L.
