CA T WA L K S H OW & LIVE AUCTION Tuesday 19th November 2013 in aid of Women for Women International

A welcome from BRITA FERNANDEZ SCHMIDT Executive Director, Women for Women International (UK)

Dear Friends, On behalf of Women for Women International, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to this very special Fashion Show in association with Browns. It has been 20 years since Women for Women International Founder, Zainab Salbi, started an amazing journey that has so far changed the lives of over 384,000 women. At Women for Women International, we often say that while one woman can change anything, many women can change everything. I firmly believe that this is true – and tonight, we have the opportunity to do just that. Having travelled to countries affected by conflict, and witnessed first-hand the devastating impact that war has on communities, I am more committed than ever to Women for Women International’s mission of reaching the most marginalised women. I have witnessed their strength, their resilience, their courage. But what struck me most is their hope – hope for a peaceful life for themselves, their children, and their communities. Through a holistic programme that combines direct financial aid, business skills training, vocational training and rights education, Women for Women International helps women in countries affected by conflict including Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, Kosovo, Nigeria, Rwanda and South Sudan. Thank you for joining me this evening and helping to raise the much-needed funds to support and give hope to women who are rebuilding their lives and the lives of their families. Together, we can change the world - one woman at a time. With my deepest gratitude,
