A welcome from
BRITA FERNANDEZ SCHMIDT
Executive Director, Women for Women International (UK)
Dear Friends, On behalf of Women for Women International, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to this very special Catwalk Show, our fourth event in partnership with Browns and once again generously sponsored by our long-time supporters, Swarovski. Women for Women International works with women living in some of the world’s most dangerous places; from the recent health crisis in West Africa, to the rise of fundamentalist groups in Nigeria and Iraq, women in areas of crisis and conflict are disproportionately affected, and continue to face unimaginable challenges. Yet despite the tragedies, the injustices and the atrocities they have endured, they have never lost hope. It is this hope that Women for Women International invests in. I know that with the right help, women can transform their lives in real and meaningful ways because over the past twenty years, Women for Women International has supported nearly 420,000 women worldwide to transform their lives. Through a year-long holistic programme encompassing rights-awareness training, health education, business and vocational skills training, women manage to increase their income from $0.30 to $1.77 two years after graduating from the Women for Women International programme. Women are more confident, send their children to school and 28% run for some form of leadership position in their community, compared to 2% at enrolment. Tonight, I am humbled by your generosity, everyone who has donated to the auction, who has given time and energy to make this event come to life. I know we are joined together by our belief that we can make a contribution, that we can reach out a hand to more women, and offer them the belief and the support that they need to transform their own lives, and the lives of those around them. In the words of one of our graduates: ‘Thank you - I had no idea what I was capable of until Women for Women International enabled me to find out!’ With my deepest gratitude,

Charlotte Olympia Dellal SPECIAL HOST
Luxury shoes and accessories designer, Charlotte Olympia Dellal began designing from her love of fashion and the art of corsetry. Charlotte took her passion to Cordwainers, the worldrenowned college for footwear and accessories in London. Here she was able to explore her interests alongside technical training in the craftsmanship of beautiful shoes. Soon after graduating, Charlotte pursued her love of fashion and launched her eponymous London based shoe brand in January 2008. Charlotte Olympia designs have become synonymous with classic sophistication and meticulous attention to detail. Inspired by a bygone era of old Hollywood glamour, iconic styles such as the Dolly with its signature ‘island’ platform, the distinctive Kitty flats and Perspex Pandora clutch box are in keeping with the brand’s feminine design philosophy. STELLA M C CARTNEY
Stella McCartney is at the epicentre of London fashion with her elegant combination of sharp tailoring and feminine ease. Influenced by her Savile Row training, the ethical designer pioneered the use of vegetarian leathers and faux-furs while designing a refreshing and updated vision of womenswear. After perfecting her superior design skills at Christian Lacroix and Chloé, Stella McCartney established her eponymous label in 2001. According to Cara Delevingne, ‘‘No matter what you wear from Stella- whether it’s a dress or a tracksuit- you feel a sense of elegance without having to try.’’ 10
The Spring/Summer 2014 collection is indeed a celebration of the ease and effortlessness of summer and of ‘the Stella Woman.’ A modern and energetic ode to femininity and romance, the collection is characterised by slightly slimmer silhouettes and wearable yet chic boy-meets-girl pieces. This Linen Daisy Jacquard Filippa Coat from the Stella McCartney Spring/Summer 2014 catwalk is available in a UK size 8.
Lot 02
CHristopher kane
While completing his MA in fashion design at Central St Martins College, Christopher Kane realised his defining ambition was to start his own label with his elder sister, Tammy Kane. Since launching his eponymous label in 2006, Kane has spearheaded the revival of British high fashion. Characterised by a rebellious femininity and playful precociousness, Christopher Kane collections never fail to innovate and create new, yet unseen forms.
Christopher Kane’s Autumn/Winter 2014 collection is one of masculine tailoring, urban silhouettes, and deep, varied textures and materials. Heralded as his best work yet, this robust, industrious collection is inventive and progressive. This show-stopping silk organza ‘FlipBook’ dress from the Christopher Kane Autumn/ Winter 2014 collection is available in a UK size 10.

azzedine ALAÏA
Azzedine Alaïa started his career in fashion as a dressmaker’s assistant. Referring to himself as a ‘builder’ rather than a fashion designer, his works emphasise structure and purity of form. Known to many as the pinnacle of luxury and craftsmanship, Alaïa uses the most ingenious fabrics and rigorous tailoring techniques to painstakingly construct and envelope the womanly form with a flourish of couture.
12
Known as ‘The Goddess Dress,’ this iconic, timeless gown is a veritable piece of Alaïa history and year-round collection staple. This sumptuous dress with plunging V neck is made of black jersey fabric that gathers and drapes at the waist as a corset and is available in UK size 10.

fendi
Fendi was established in 1925 by Edoardo and Adele Fendi as an Italian fur and leather company, for which it remains famous today. In 1965, under the direction of Karl Lagerfeld, Fendi adopted the double F logo, launched a ready-to-wear collection and has since grown into one the world’s finest luxury labels.
Typically formal and often futuristic, Karl Lagerfeld rises to new heights in the light and airy Fendi Summer/Spring 2014 collection, where colour cascades and precise, geometric forms abound. Describing the collection as ‘‘hyper-linked’’ and one of “inline style,’’ Karl Lagerfeld’s love of modernity pervades. This chiffon layered dress from the Spring/ Summer 2014 collection is available in a UK size 8.

Giambattista Valli
A ‘no rules’ approach and unrivalled attention to proportion and form have won Italian designer Giambattista Valli a vast fashion following. Having honed his craft at Fendi and Emanuel Ungaro, 2011 saw the launch of the designer’s first haute couture collection, demonstrating his commitment to exceptional fabrics and modern tailoring. Influenced by his Roman roots, the movies of Antonioni, and inspired by the discovery of French fashion through the watercolours of Yves Saint Laurent and the drawings of Gruau, Giambattista decided to pursue his dream by enrolling in fashion school, the Istituto Europeo del Design of Rome, in 1986. 14
Almost a decade after his first fashion show in Paris in 2005 which marked the launch of the Giambattista Valli line, the designer has decided to launch a new prêt-à-porter line under the name of GIAMBA. Giambattista Valli shows four times a year during Paris Fashion Week and a very glamorous, sophisticated crowd of beautiful women have endorsed his talent by wearing his clothes including Penélope Cruz, Jessica Biel, Natalie Portman, and Halle Berry. This red silk jersey long dress with macramé lace is available in a UK size 10-12.
Lot 06
emilio pucci
Founded in 1947 by Florentine aristocrat, the Marquis Emilio Pucci, the Emilio Pucci Maison launched unexpectedly on the slopes of Zermatt, when the photo of a revolutionary ski suit he designed for a female friend found its way to the pages of Harper’s Bazaar. A brilliant colourist, he drew inspiration from nature, architecture and exotic cultures to create his signature prints- infusions of kaleidoscopic colours in graphic, abstract patterns. With his bold, new designs and radical approach to fashion, he soon became a fashion phenomenon and was crowned “The Prince of Prints” by the
international fashion press. Today, Creative and Artistic Director Peter Dundas carries on this trailblazing vision and love affair with Italian craftsmanship, luxury, colour and design that began over six decades ago. This dress is a sartorial work of art. Splendid and long-sleeved with stretch tulle, this dress is preciously embellished all over in gold bugle beads, sequins and crystals. The embroideries trace heart shapes and floral motifs, as well as a skull on the upper bodice. It is available in a UK size 8.
