It's very important to have family support to pursue anything in life. It gives you motivation and dedication to achieve your aims.
I'm very fortunate that my whole family has been constantly encouraging and motivating me thorough thick and thin. They've always been proud of me. This helped me stay focused.
It's their support and faith in me that I've come so far.
My Coach has played the most incredible role in my journey. She has been my constant companion throughout this journey. It was definitely her influence that got me in this journey of SQAY Martial Arts.
She not only influenced me but also inspired me at every step.
Sometimes I didn’t perform up to the level then lost the confidence and got demotivated. Sometime studies got affected because of tournaments and then had to face challenges coping up with the missed classes and homework.
Sometimes these challenges were difficult to overcome but my dedication and passion towards SQAY never made me give up.
As a child, I never thought I’d ever be a sportsperson. I enjoyed watching cricket but martial arts was something that I never imagined I would ever do. The idea of Martial Arts would scare me.
My journey of Martial Arts started when I was in grade 4th. My Coach Mir Salma was physical teacher in my school. She is the one who introduced me to Sqay Martial Arts. I still remember, when she attended our first games period…It wasn’t a good session at all. All of my classmates including me were sad because she was so strict and needed everything to the point, be it walk from the classroom to ground, our sports uniform, our shoes, everything had to be up the mark. Then gradually we adapted to her rules and regulations. The excitement and enthusiasm of the games period was back. She introduced techniques of SELF DEFENCE to us and this was something that got stuck in my head.
After few months we had an All-India SQAY Martial Arts Camp at Pahalgam Anantnag. We needed parents consent to attend this 7-day camp, I went back home from school and told my parents about this camp and fortunately they gave me the consent to attend the Camp.
On Day One of Camp started I got to know it’s totally opposite of what I thought. I had to do everything on my own from waking up early in morning for jogging to getting ready for the practice session to washing own dishes .
Talking about the practice session, It wasn’t easy at all, we had to practice in the hot sun for whole day. We just had an hour of lunch break that’s it. This taught me a lot.
On last day of camp we had a championship and I bagged bronze. I was disappointed and that’s when I decided that I have to work hard and give my one hundred percent from now on.
Then I practiced for hours for next championships and then I won a gold in Cadet National Championship held at Haryana. This achievement made me more confident and focused. This is how my journey in SQAY started and since then till now I’ve been working hard and determined to make my Coach, my family and whole country proud.
..
I am in 11th class and preparing for LAW and will continue to represent my country at different tournaments throughout the world. So, I’m preparing for CLAT and also, I’ve been selected for upcoming Asian Championships of SQAY Martial Arts. I’m looking forward to attending the tournament and make my country proud.
She has taught me ..
To me Women Empowerment means when women are free to chase their dreams and they are given the opportunities and platforms to showcase their capabilities.
