Curt Hofer & Associates
Whether you want to update your home for the 21st century, add more living space, or build a new home entirely, Curt Hofer & Associates have got you covered. “Our goal is always to make clients happy,” says company president Steve Huber. “We build the home they dream! We will build it to suit our clients’ lifestyles and needs. Each dream is unique, so each home is unique. For this reason, we never build the same home twice.”
“Of course, clients who come to us with dreams also have budgets,” Steve continues. “We strive to honor both the dreams and the budgets. That is the best way to make clients happy. Then, when they decide to renovate, they will think of us. After all, who knows the home better than the team who built it? If clients want to add space for a movie room or update a bathroom or kitchen, we have the know-how, the team, and the best ideas on how to stay true to the home’s original design.”

Curt Hofer always knew he wanted to build beautiful homes. He founded the firm almost 30 years ago and carefully established its reputation for integrity and quality construction. Steve joined him 24 years ago. Steve does the initial interview, helping to clarify what the dream home is to become. He knows what questions to ask and how to show clients what possibilities exist for their projects. Craig Linnenbrink is the vice president of construction. He oversees each step of construction, with the budget in mind. He is always responsive to the clients’ wishes, keeping them aware of the progress and scheduling tours of the project at their request.
Their dedication and creativity have led to beautiful homes and have made the name Curt Hofer synonymous with excellence in building and renovation. Their carefully thought-out building process is at the heart of their success. After the initial client interview with Steve, the draftsmen produce three-dimensional, flexible images to try out different colors and materials—even sample furniture placement. One draftsman produces the paper blueprints that contain the technical aspects of the building. Project managers for the firm make sure every step of the building process goes according to the clients’ wishes. One of those project managers is Steve’s son, and Steve’s wife is the firm’s accountant. The talented team at Curt Hofer & Associates is really one of family and longtime friends.
Steve also has as team members various interior designers who can provide the perfect finishing touches to the home. He matches clients with the best designers for their style, which might be traditional, country, eclectic, or modern. “If the clients want granite, quartz, or marble, the team members show them many choices. If they want gray stone, we have many shades of gray,” Steve says. “I believe our clients enjoy the process because we have done the leg work to make their choices easier.”
As anyone in the real estate or construction business can tell you, location matters. When you’re building a home, location also has a major impact on the design and budget. “Some clients own their lot already, some have an area in mind, some want suggestions,” Steve notes. “We have some desirable lots available in excellent neighborhoods.”
The homes that the Hofer team builds are for professionals whose top priorities are their careers and families, not overseeing a construction project. “Our project managers keep the building on schedule and according to plan,” Steve says. “They handle the stress for our clients. We always aim to come in within the client’s budget and by the completion date. Of course, we face many obstacles. Since this is Nebraska, we can have weather delays every season. Our team concept and decades of experience have taught us how to get around such problems.” Steve smiles as he adds, “We also have to compete with the construction workers on HGTV, who always manage to bring their projects to completion in 30 to 60 minutes.”
What does Steve hope for the future of homebuilding? “I would love to see more young people learning trades,” he says. “Finish carpentry, electrical work, and plumbing offer great career opportunities. They are satisfying careers for kids who like to work with their hands and create. They are also financially rewarding.”
