Optima Medical Hormone Replacement & Aesthetic Center

Optima Medical Hormone Replacement & Aesthetic Center, located at 2608 South 158th Plaza, in Omaha, is a medical facility run by a medical professional. Joleen Lake is an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) who began her nursing career in 1992. She has spent the last 25 years supporting patients in many areas,
including oncology, women’s health, and medical aesthetics. These days, she focuses on helping patients be their best selves through bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.
“I know the life-improving differences that the best kind of hormone replacement therapy (HRT) has made for my clients,” Joleen declares. “Patients’ moods become brighter. Their debilitating fatigue becomes a thing of the past. Sex drive, which may have vanished with the hormone depletion, returns to normal again. An improved outlook and a sense of general well-being prevails. When we administer these hormones, positive changes provide a better quality of life for our clients.”
Joleen explains what she means by “the best kind” of HRT. “Originally, HRT was welcomed as a great medical breakthrough. The hormones used were created from animal hormones. They were not identical to human hormones. Serious problems followed for some patients. The synthetic estrogen and progestin were discontinued early on.”
“Unfortunately, all hormone replacement became suspect and even feared. Bioidentical hormones have not shown those dangerous side effects,” Joleen asserts. “They are plant-based and a match for human hormones. The right doses restore metabolic balance. The benefits make for a better life.”
Studies show that, as we age, the endocrine system slows down, no longer producing enough of the hormones we need to function at our best. HRT with bioidentical hormones slows the approach of many of the scourges of aging, like weakening bones and increased risk of heart disease.
While all of the body’s hormones are necessary for good health, one of the most misunderstood is testosterone. This hormone actually impacts the body’s immune system, libido, and muscle formation. It also enhances a general sense of well-being. Testosterone replacement therapy can improve quality of life for both women and men.
Optima delivers testosterone as a pellet therapy. “Pellet therapy is a well-established treatment,” Joleen notes. “This therapy places a rice-sized grain of your exact dose under the skin. Everyone needs individually prescribed dosages; the pellet releases your tailor-made

The sooner we replace our missing hormones, the sooner we can find relief.
Confusion exists about the differences between bioidentical hormones and those that are not bioidentical. One misunderstanding is the difference between progestin and progesterone (whether you’re spelling or pronouncing, it’s easy to see how you could mix them up). Both of these hormones have been used in HRT, but they have different chemical structures. “The media condemned hormone replacement generally, without explaining which hormones were the focus of the study,” Joleen says.
