There’s an old saying that you’ve probably heard: “If you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life.” For Jen Honnens, the owner of Lincoln’s beloved salon Partners ’N Hair, this statement could not be more true. While Jen does work hard to ensure that her customers feel satisfied after they get a fresh new haircut, she considers herself lucky to go to work at the salon every day. “I love what I do,” Jen shares. “I am so fortunate to come to my job, see the people I love, and make them happy.”

For over 30 years, Partners ’N Hair has offered cuts, trims, colors, and perms, while helping their guests relax and feel at home. Jen and her staff have the skills to deliver a cut and color that is individually tailored to a client’s face, shape, hair texture, lifestyle, and personal preference. The perfect hairstyles aren’t about what’s trendy, Jen advises. It’s about what suits us best, from the shape of our face to the amount of time and effort we want to put into styling every day.

Jen wants to make sure that her clients feel comfortable and satisfied with the haircut results. If you’re not sure what kind of haircut you want or whether the color you like will suit you, the stylists are happy to consult with you. “We offer very personalized, one-on-one service,” Jen shares. “We listen to what our clients have to say.”

The stylists at Partners ’N Hair also discuss with clients how to maintain their style and what hair products they’ll need to do it. They welcome clients with all types of hair textures and conditions. “I love making people feel better about themselves,” Jen says.

Jen knows that the pandemic has brought worry, stress, and anxiety that is lingering in our day-to-day lives. Partners ’N Hair shut down last spring to comply with citywide restrictions. When restrictions were lifted in May 2020, Jen was eager to reopen for her clients but wanted to do so responsibly. She welcomes her customers while following health-directed measures and social distancing. The team of stylists is small, so there’s plenty of space to keep your distance from other clients and other stylists while getting your hair cut, colored, or styled.

Jen wants Partners ’N Hair to be a place where clients will feel comfortable and rejuvenated. Though walk-ins are still accepted, she encourages clients to make an appointment—stylists need extra time to clean up and prepare between clients.

One of the things Jen loves most about her job is the long-lasting connections she’s made with her clients, so she was delighted to see her clients return after she reopened in May. In what has been a long and difficult time, filled with changes, the mission at Partners ’N Hair has not changed: to help clients look good, feel better, and leave happier than when they arrived.

For many years, Jen and her team have fulfilled that mission successfully; in that way, 2021 is no different from any other year. One client, Dorene, raves, “I love everything Jen has done to my hair.” Another client, Harold, describes his haircut at Partners ’N Hair as “the best haircut I have had in years!” With results like those, it’s no wonder that people keep coming back to Partners ’N Hair. They recently welcomed a special new client—the fourth generation of a single family coming to Partners ’N Hair for great cuts. Now, that’s a solid recommendation!

Jen’s goal as a business owner is to keep growing her business and maintaining the relationships she’s built over the years. She always hopes to reach more people and make new connections. She just can’t get enough of the way her clients’ confidence is boosted when they leave the salon. Never underestimate the power of great hair!
