17 Juicealicious Instagram Tips To Set Yourself Up For Explosive Growth! Instagram is a fantastic platform – and it’s growing. People Looovvveee visuals! Add that to our love of mini videos, and if you are a business, you are going to want to be reaching out to your customers on there! So how can you get the most out of this amazing social platform and explode your growth without spending any money? Keep reading my dears, let me share with you what I have learnt! (hint – I’m saving my best tip for last… no don’t skip to the end!)
1.
Work Out Why You Are On There In The First Place
Or in other words, work out your social media strategy. So this comes down to: What kind of business do you have? Who is your target market? How can you bring value to your customers through Instagram? How are you going to measure your results? So let’s say you are a health blogger. You have a lovely website full of amazing tips to help people. What kind of people are you trying to help? What kind of pictures would they find valuable? – maybe something to link back to a healthy recipe you have, or a 60 second how to do an exercise maybe? You are able to put a link in your profile on you page for your website - do you have any tracking software to measure how many people are clicking that link? It can be as easy or as complicated as you want to make it, but essentially, work out who you are, who your ideal client is and then make content they would like!

Have A Clear Profile Page
This seems obvious but a lot of people don’t have this. Instagram doesn’t use keywords in your profile itself (right now) but you want to be clear to people who you are, what your business is and what you are going to provide. Have a really good picture of your face too, so people know who they are connecting with. You are going to want to go into your profile settings and change your profile to from "Personal" to "Business" as well. This will give you the option of adding in some contact details for customers to get a hold of you, as well as give you some analytic information about your best performing pictures. Always be Authentic and showcase as much of your personality as you can! You are unique, so show it off and draw your tribe to you!
3.
Use That Link In Your Bio Well!
It’s a good idea to use the link in your profile to either promote your latest blog post or send them to your website. I personally tend to not send people straight to a lead capture page from Instagram, even if I have something free to give them. I usually tell them in the blog post about that. But each to your own. Just never be pushy, if people want to buy your stuff, they will come to you. It’s called Attraction Marketing.
4.
Be Consistent!
This is one of the biggest things about social media! It’s powerful. Work out how many times you can post a day or a week consistently and do it…. Long term!
17 Juicealicious Instagram Tips To Set Yourself Up For Explosive Growth!
17 Juicealicious Instagram Tips To Set Yourself Up For Explosive Growth! If you can only post 3 times a week – great! Do it the same time on the same days. The loyal followers you do build will eventually start looking for your content on those days, so be a good leader and don’t disappoint! I usually post at least once a day every day – twice usually on Sundays as they are the best day to post. Consistency is EVERYTHING in all online marketing.
5.
Branding or Pattern Interrupt
It’s up to you which way you go. A lot of people like to make their Instagram home pages look really cool by having a checker effect with their photos, or maybe every third post a white background with a quote. That's one way of branding. I personally prefer Pattern Interrupt for myself. It stops people from looking at the overall picture and skimming through and not taking notice of what I’ve actually put on my page. I want them to see the individual posts and pictures, so I mix things up with quotes, photos, videos and so forth. Go with what feels best for you, but always make it very authentic to your personality.
6.
Be Social!
This is social media of course! One of the worst things you can do is use any social media platform as a way to just push your products onto people. People don’t come onto Instagram or any social media to be pitched – we come to be entertained and to socialise. So comment on other pictures, respond to comments on yours, make connections and build relationships. This is all social media of course!

Always Lead With Value
I’ve had quite a lot of people contact me on Instagram and asked me a favour or asked me to go to the effort to contact them to help them. I’m not interested sorry. If you have no relationship with a person, you don’t know them from a bar of soap and they are like “Hey can you just stop looking at cakes and give me a promotion” I know I’m going to go back to looking at cakes. I'm tired and I like cakes. If you want something from someone, you need to tell them what’s in it for them first. Especially a stranger. People are selfish, sorry but it’s true, but you can use that to your advantage. Always remember people are asking “what’s in it for me” and answer that question first. Always come in with the mindset of giving to customers and peers alike first and you will come out a winner!
8.
Bots Are Stupid
Don’t get one. They make ridiculous inappropriate comments on random photos and can damage your reputation. Scheduling programs like Buffer are okay (more on those soon), and I’m all for automation, but this goes back to point 3 – being social. People want to know the real you and connect with you. Not a bot.

17 Juicealicious Instagram Tips To Set Yourself Up For Explosive Growth! 9. A High Number Of Followers Doesn’t Always Equal Conversions Yes it looks great having thousands of followers, but does that equal more dollars in your bank for your business? It’s better to have 300 loyal followers who you connect with well and love your content, than 26,000 who never buy and don’t know you or do anything really except maybe like a few pictures. It comes back to the previous points, yes you don’t want to shove your products in people’s faces, but you do want to build a loyal following which will eventually convert into sales. You are a business after all. Quality over Quantity always.
10. Don’t Flippin’ Buy Followers On Instagram Yes you can do it. I actually do think it’s not a bad idea when you are starting out on Facebook to go onto Fiverr and get some page likes, but it doesn’t seem to matter as much on Instagram. And honestly, if I go to an Instagram page with 25,000 likes and only 10 posts, it's obvious, and I run. Buying likes can be good for a new Facebook Page because people will go onto your page and see you have a heap of likes and then they are more likely to follow you. The likes you buy on Fiverr usually disappear after a couple of months anyway when Facebook realises they are fake profiles and deletes them.

17 Juicealicious Instagram Tips To Set Yourself Up For Explosive Growth! The biggest problem with doing this is it gives you false readings on your analytics. You can’t measure your real success which is important to know how well you’re going. So then you don't actually know what to keep doing or spending money on because your data is wrong. So maybe yes for Facebook in the beginning, not necessary for Instagram.
11. Do Look Into Apps To Monitor Unfollows There is a “follow for follow” culture in Twitter and Instagram. What irritates me is when people (or their bots) like my page and then a few days later unlike it. So then I unfollow them back. Growl. I use Crowdfire (though there are heaps of others out there) which I pay a little bit for every month to monitor Twitter and Instagram followers. It does a few neat things on there which is helpful.
12. Do Follow For Follow Only follow people you want to follow, but if you want to build up your followers, this is a good way to do it. I wasn’t so into it at first, but it seems to be a way of giving and receiving as well as networking and building connections with people. If they are interested in you, take a little interest in them. Go onto their page and like 3 pictures and make a genuine comment on one. Go to a little effort when you comment and don’t just say “nice” or something lame like that. Again – this is about being social. Catching the trend here?

17 Juicealicious Instagram Tips To Set Yourself Up For Explosive Growth! 13. Get A Scheduling Program This will make your life a whole lot easier to be consistent! I use Buffer, which alerts me when I’ve chosen to post, but there are heaps others out there too. I have a week worth of pictures ready to go (usually) and I have my blurb ready to cut and paste into my caption. I just copy and paste my hashtags into a comment and I’m done. A lot of them have inbuilt analytics too so you can see which of your posts are most successful and work out when you get the most engagement so you can give people more of what they love! And just make your life easier. It helps you be consistent.
14. Use Canva Or Wordswag Actually there are a few out there, but these are the ones I use to make any inspirational quotes. Canva is free and you can use it on your desktop computer and then save the picture to Google Drive or whatever you choose so you can post it to Instagram. I’m not very good with pretty pictures, so Wordswag is good for me. I paid like $5 when I bought it and it’s worth it. It has inbuilt quotes if you like, but I prefer to google quotes and type them in. People like inspirational quotes but I like to mix things up with some behind the scenes pictures too, to keep things interesting.
15. The Best Times For Posting
17 Juicealicious Instagram Tips To Set Yourself Up For Explosive Growth!
17 Juicealicious Instagram Tips To Set Yourself Up For Explosive Growth! Different people say different things. I was told between 12 and 5pm, but it can come down to your target market. Think about when people are checking their Instagram. Maybe when they first wake up or are commuting on the trains. At lunch time or in the afternoon when 3:30-itis starts setting in and they are fatiguing from work. There’s also in the evenings. This is why analytic programs are good - to test and measure. Sundays are supposed to be the best day for posting too, as everyone is at home lazing around enjoying a good relax! Take note of what time it is in other countries too as to when you post. I live in Australia but I have a lot of followers in the USA and UK so taking that into account is good too. You probably don’t want to post more than 2-3 times a day. As I said, I only post once a day, which I find is great for long term growth… and I think I personally would run out of things to take pictures of doing that many consistently long term in my business!
16. Scope Out The Competition… And Copy Their Followers We call the people with big followings “Influencers” as they obviously have built quite a reputation for themselves probably over several years. So go and look up who is already in your Niche and has a large following. A business similar to yours. Click on their profile where it says “Followers” and it will give you a list of all of the people who are following them.

17 Juicealicious Instagram Tips To Set Yourself Up For Explosive Growth! And just start following those people. You can go onto each individual’s page and as I said earlier, like 3 pictures and make a heartfelt comment on one as well as following them. I do about 20 a day. This is where your apps for monitoring Follows and Unfollows is good, because you can just unfollow the people who don’t follow you back after a few days. It’s a good, cheeky way to get your name out.
17. And My Last Juiciest Tip Which Gave Me Explosive Growth How many hashtags are you using? Did you know you can use up to 30? You really want to get your amazing pictures in front of as many relevant people as you can to explode your growth. Another very good point is you want to research hashtags which have 50,000 – 1 million posts to them – not the massive ones. The reason for this is that you want to be SEEN and not drowned out. I went from having very little movement in my Instagram account, very few likes and next to no engagement until I started doing this and my organic growth has really taken off! I keep a copy of my hashtags in Evernote and I just copy and paste them into the comment after I post it straight away. I have a few lists of hashtags to try to expand my reach as much as possible, but I know one list in particular gets the best engagement. Keep testing and experimenting anyway.
