How Being True To Yourself More Will Empower Your Life kathryns-blog.com /being-true-to-yourself/ Kathryn There is no one else like you in the world. No one. No one with your DNA, your life experiences, your friends, your family, your exact personality… None. So why would you try to be anyone else? To fit in maybe? Hide? I know that to be the best, you have to watch the best and think like them… but there is a difference between taking up positive habits and mindsets, and denying your true self. Being True To Yourself More Will Empower Your Life! Let’s look at how this will help you and how you can be more authentic.
You Will Draw The Right People To You If you don’t act like yourself then how are people to know who the real you are? If you are trying to be a “partier” for example, but you’d rather be at home reading, then do that. You’ll be able to have some great conversations with other book lovers about what you are reading and your interests. Like should attract like! So be you, so you can attract people like you! People who are like you will understand you better, and they will have awareness of themselves which will bring you more awareness of yourself. Find your tribe and be a strong team!
You Will Like Yourself Better You don’t want to feel like a fraud; pushing yourself to do things that you hate, having to keep up pretences. When you live your life to your values and focusing on your passions, you will love the real you – because you are awesome as you. You will be more proud of yourself for standing up for what you believe in and living a more wholesome, authentic life.
It’s Easier Than Keeping Up Pretences Eventually, the real you will come out. This is awesome when you are dealing with someone who is two faced and evil, but not so great when you are hiding some of your weaknesses. Be you and be honest – it’s so much easier than pretending to be someone else. Wear what you want to wear! Eat what you decide is best for you! Work the job you love! All that stuff!
Less Stress = More Happiness And better health actually. It might be hard at first, but it will get easier. Just stick with it and eventually things will shift and it will be better in the long run.

You Will Make Better Decisions When you know yourself better you can decide what is best for you easier, thus making better decisions that will benefit you.
There Is Only One You So why try to be a duplicate of someone else. One thing I actually learned about from my Mentors was that we are our own Unique Selling Points. Whether you work as a therapist, in a coffee shop or online like me, people will remember you for you. “That nice girl at Starbucks with the curly hair” or “The woman with all the great tips about organic living”. Let your personality shine – because we remember the people who do.
You Will Probably Say A Lot Of Things Other People Are Already Thinking And are too afraid to say themselves. Being brave and being the first to speak up can take practice if you are shy like me, but you would be surprised at how many people are probably going through the same things as you, and thinking the same things too. That being said, someone will always disagree with you, and that’s okay. It’s all about freedom of speech and opinion.
You Will Inspire Others And Earn Their Trust And Respect Being authentic can be hard. When people know that you say what you mean and mean what you say, they will know that they can trust you. Now I’m not talking about being a rude loudmouth who has to put your two cents in every time. You can be tactful and honest too. But when people know where they stand with you, they will feel easier around you and be more drawn to you – or at the very least, respect you. We live in such a fake world, which is why we are so drawn to honesty and transparency – especially in business.
You Will Have Nothing To Prove When you are happy in your own skin you will know that people can either accept you as is or hit the road. You aren’t changing for anyone. No one is loved by every single person alive. But you will always be someone’s flavor, and that’s who you want to find. You don’t have to explain your past or justify yourself to strangers. You aren’t perfect and no one is and that’s okay.
So How Do I Become More Authentic and Be True To Myself More? I actually had to google this. Growing up I learnt to keep my wants and needs very quiet, as a mother I put myself last (as most of us do) and I didn’t realise how little I knew myself until the last 6 months really I guess. So I got this from Kissmetrics Blog:

Increase Your Self Awareness Find Others Like You Be In The Moment (I would add, find gratitude in every day too) Don’t try to be perfect Well that’s in my words anyway. Increasing your self-awareness and learning to present can take some time, but it’s very worth it.
Sooo…. There is a lot to benefit from just being you. Take some time and look at yourself, your job, your friends, your relationship and find out if you really are being true to yourself. Find out what you are passionate about and start pursuing it! Gosh, life is too short not to! I’m living my own passions, creating an online business that I love. I have learnt so much from my mentors about creating a life I am in charge of, and so have thousands of other people.
