The Power of Mindset Do you ever watch some of those fitness stars on television who just make losing weight and being healthy look so easy? Or those millionaires who write books on making money, they just make it sound easy too. Obviously if it were easy then we would all be a healthy weight range with lots of money. Our minds are such powerful things and what we think about, how we perceive life and how we solve problems can really determine our success or failure. So why do some people find making money and losing weight easy and the rest of us don’t?

Your Environment A couple of months ago I wrote a post called “A Quiet Success” (click here to read) about how I lost nearly 20 kilos a few years ago by focusing on being healthy and changing my environment. I’m not telling you that to toot my horn, quite the opposite, I actually didn’t tell people about my weight loss for a while because it was just that easy and I didn’t actually try to do it – it was just a natural response to me changing into a more healthy eating environment, so I didn’t feel like I had anything to be proud of and I don’t really do still, it just happened. At that time, I had left my marriage and moved in with my parents with my daughter who was a baby back then. I went from my own home where I use to stack the bottom of the fridge with soft drink and eat 3 packets of Tim Tams (and the rest) a week, to my mother’s house where she was focused on healthy, vitamin rich foods and stir fries etc. The key was that I was focused at that time on becoming healthy and the good. I didn’t care about my weight back then so I guess I was just grateful at that time to be in a more healthy environment. I focused on putting good food in my mouth and every time I put something good in, I wasn’t putting something bad in. I started at a new gym and just exercised moderately there which really accelerated things from that point. Weight loss was just the natural response of those good habits. Imagine if you got a job at a gym. You would be surrounded every day with people who love to exercise and are looking for new healthy recipes. You would have the opportunity to use the equipment and be able to talk to the trainers to find information to help you achieve your goals. Being immersed in a new environment that fosters that kind of change really makes it much easier to create new habits.

Millionaires such as my mentors say the same thing about money. That fostering the right mindset and environment, creating the right habits, surrounding yourself with like-minded people: they all just lead to the creation of wealth. Obviously you need the right equipment to create wealth (like needing the right equipment to gain muscle at the gym). After reading a few different books and articles on these subjects, you can usually see a bit of a pattern in goal setting and achievement. I’m reading “How to get lots of money for anything fast” by Stuart Lichtman and Joe Vitale and it’s really a book about subconscious retraining to get your mind to work towards achieving goals your conscious mind wants. I guess he just made that title because it sells the book better. Having a Growth Mindset ( read about that here) and knowing that failure is just part of the learning process is vital to achieving success.

Be a Master It’s good to try your hands at lots of things but why do something unless you feel passionate about it and can master it? There is this amazing Cookoo Clock shop in a little town not far from where I live and it is incredible walking through and admiring the craftsmanship of the makers. Why can’t that be you? If you love something then you will want to spend time with it and master it. You don’t have to be the best in the world, but be good at what you do. Who wouldn’t feel proud of themselves for being a master. Life is both long and short – remember that.

Find the tools This can be tricky but when you have the right tools to achieve your goals and you combine them with passion and determination you can just shine so brightly! We are so lucky that these days people are creating more and more tools to help people learn and accomplish their dreams. First be clear what you want to achieve, writing it down really helps, and then just spend a bit of time every day going through articles and learning. You would be surprised at how much comes down to little key changes. I really like Naturopaths and recommend them a bit because a lot of people try to get different vitamins and herbs to

treat their ailments but the average person doesn’t know what they are doing and is really just taking a stab in the dark as they say. Going to a health professional who can run a few tests and work out exactly what you may be deficient in can really save you a lot of time and money in the long run and hit the nail on the head. So the reason I said all of that is because you might be surprised how one key change can really transform your life.

Soooo….. Determination and passion really help achieving goals. Having a very strong “why” as to what you want to achieve will really drive you to succeed. Surrounding yourself with people who can encourage you and push you along, and who you can in turn encourage, can really motivate you. Some days you will feel flat, and that’s when those good habits, people and will power need to come into play. Don’t try to reinvent the wheel – read about and learn from successful people and copy them. When you master something then you can create your own brand and build something unique that is based on your unique personality and desires. It all starts in your mind, it starts with you, and self-improvement is a journey that will never end so pace yourself. Keep learning and building and growing. Be clear on your goals and what you are willing to put in to achieve them. Try to look at a problem differently and from a more positive perspective and see if that helps. Don’t make your life any harder than it already probably is. I have been learning from my mentors and getting support from a community about how I can make my life easier, have more time for my family and to take care of myself a bit better – through leveraging the internet to make money online – and you can too.
