Before The Watch Party

Crescendeaux 2023

Determine Time & Place Crescendeaux takes place November 4, with a VIP reception at 6pm CT; doors open for the Fashion Show at 7pm CT. We recommend starting your watch party close to 6pm CT to allow for latecomers; this way, as people arrive, you can get them mixing, mingling, and enjoying your Crescendeaux cocktails and party bites

16

Ask people to come! One of the most important parts of a watch party is...people! You want to make sure you are getting together a great group of folks who will love WFS and already have a passion for fashion and art. Think about friends and family, colleagues, clubs, local community groups, and neighbors, then just call, text, or email them. You can also use your social media accounts to reach out and promote your event. Share the link or the QR code with your friends and ask them to purchase a virtual ticket. Then Track Your RSVPS So You Can Remind Your Watch Party Invitees Before The Event

Make An Event Agenda Decide how you want your evening to flow. You can start off with fashion trivia, create your own purple carpet, dance, or eat first – it's your choice! Just don’t miss the live show at 7pm CT.

New Orleans Chef Nina Compton’s food is an expression of her Caribbean roots and love for her adopted home in the South. Her restaurants, Compére Lapin and Bywater American Bistro feature her signature fusion dishes that are the perfect mix of both cultures and bring the whole community to the table. Try making her yummy Roasted Jerk Corn recipe to lively up your watch party.

It is with no question that gumbo is a staple of Louisiana cuisine. The little-known history behind the dish is that in addition to being born from African culinary influences, our beloved comfort food also has indigenous roots. This recipe for Houma Indian Filé Gumbo is a history lesson on the contributions of indigenous cultures to Louisiana cuisine. Filé, made from ground sassafras leaves, is used instead of a roux and is an ingredient commonly used in Choctaw cuisine. Use the story of filé in the recipe to spark a conversation at your party and learn something new. » 3 lbs shrimp

» ½ cup diced bell peppers

» 2 Tbsp filé

» ¼ cup parsley

» 1 large onion, diced

» Creole seasoning to taste

» 3 cloves of garlic

» 2 Tbsp vegetable oil

» ½ cup diced celery

» 3 qts water

In a large pot, warm the vegetable oil on medium-high heat. Add the onions and sauté them until they’re lightly browned. Add the garlic and sauté until fragrant. Gradually mix in the shrimp, cooking until they’re pink. Stir in the celery and bell peppers, then cook for 3 to 5 minutes. Add the water, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add Creole seasoning and parsley, then turn off the heat. Add the filé and stir. Put the pot lid on and let it sit for a few minutes. Serve over rice. Sprinkle more filé on top as desired
