Christine Quintasket
Christine Quintasket aka Morning Dove was an Interior Salish woman who collected tribal stories among Northern Plateau peoples in the early twentieth century. She described centuriesold traditions with the authority of first-hand knowledge, and also wrote a novel based on her experiences. Mourning Dove was very well known as a writer by this time, admired by some and criticized by other members of both the white and tribal communities.
