01/ Antique
A commerical tower addressing gentrification & connection in Central, Hong Kong 2022 Spring Studio Tower + Market Instructor: Prof. LAW Sai Hung Sebastian Individual Work
Located in Peel Street, Central, a relatively older sector in the CBD area, the site is currently under Urban Renewal Authority's redevelopment where mixed use high-rises will be replacing the neighboring lots from colonial style low-rise residential buildings and a historical local open wet market. With Tai Kwun, PMQ and Central Markeet being some significantly successful alteration and addition works in the district. The project had taken references from these precedents' approach, by being a fusion of old and new, and by re-branding the old Gage Street market.
1
In addition to the cultural background, the project was also inspired by the infrastructure of the district. With the Central-Mid-Levels Escalator being another important characteristic of the site which dictates the circulation of people in the district. The tower had taken such advantage through strategically relocating the podium level to the middle session, connecting the bridge directly to the artery of the area. The Antique proposes an alternative solution to gentrification through the hybrid mixing of programmes, material and rediverting the circulation within and out of the tower.

02/ HOUSE IN 2071
A self-organizing intergenerational flexible dwelling system in Shau Kei Wan, Hong Kong 2021 Fall Studio Intergenerational Public Housing Instructor: Prof. Mo Kar Him Collaborator: Tse Yuen Wing, Liang Qiong Dian Award: Best Studio Desgin Honourable Mentions Scope of Work: Site Analysis, Conceptual Design, Model Making, All Drawings Shown
The project starts by questioning the real process of community formation. Instead of simply categorizing individuals, we realised building a community together should be a very emotionally and interpersonally-related process. It is when ones’ comfort zone starts to expand, from family to strangers as encounterment increases. We wish to explore 'community' in our housing with the concept of comfort zone, where residents should be recognized as individuals. The ultimate goal is to normalize 'co-living' that dwellers are granted with the choice of living with whoever they want if its suitable for their living quality and needs.
9
In this project we try to explore the answer of these questions: How many ways can we live together? To what extent can we live together? Can housing respond to constant d e m o g r ap h i c c h a n g e s a n d h o u s e h o l d transformation? Can one housing be the home of a person throughout his whole life? Co-living and adaptive housing are used as a strategy for interpersonal relationship and community bonding.

03/ WHITE NOISE
Interpretation Centre in Pok Fu Lam, Hong Kong 2021 Spring Studio Exhibition Complex Instructor: Prof. SHINOHARA, Hiroyuki Award: Best Studio Design Honourable Mentions Individual Work The Interpretation centre located in the Pok Fu Lam village is an exhibition complex which acts as an interphase between the cityscape and the rural traditional village. Inspired by the investigation of translucent concrete from the Italian Pavilion Shanghai Expo 2010, the attention of the building had been focusing on the adaptation of translucent concrete into the building as well as considering concrete as the major material of the entire design.
21
With the major purpose of storing the heritage of the village, a free-form translucent concrete facade generated from a sunpath analysis is placed at the south facade of the exhibition spaces. The light transmitting facade is able to provide a sacred and solemn ambienece for the visitors experience which greatly differs from the remaining spaces.

Structure
The structural system of the building is made up of T beam and T wall, with reference to Arne Jacobsen's St Catherine's College. The use of the 'T' elements allowed the introduction of grid system which helps to define and align the space.

04/ Drifting Home...
Personal Work | Floating Community Design Miami Floating House Competition Organisation: Arch Out Loud Location: Miami’s Biscayne Bay Award: Director’s Choice ‘Drifting Home...’ is a multilayered urbanscale master planning proposal that aims to solve the climate gentrification in the Miami coastal area through cloning Little Haiti. The recreation is achieved through heavily referencing their city grid, programme provision and household typology. The neighborhood wishes to act as an affordable floating community prototype. The community consists of 100 dwellings; including retail mixed household, studio, and family units. They are placed from near to far
29
from the main street according to their level of openness, and flexibility to adapt with the primary circulation, units can take up the circulation and turn them into retail or exhibition spaces. Apart from borrowing Little Haiti’s housing typology, the same principle is applied on the form. Pyramidal and pitched roofs are largely adopted in the design. The adoption of such iconic forms does not only give character to the community, but also allow second level circulation to happen. Major programs are interconnected through the raised paths, seperating the boat and human circulation.

Personal Work | Metal Installation on rooftop garden Elective Course Project Type: Installation Location: Roof top of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Architecture Building The design of the installation started with a pure investigation on the materiality of metal, incoporated with the vegetation condition of site. Worked with 5 massive metal welded plates, the piece shapes one’s route and view. Inspired by the sculptural artist, Richard Serra’s. Aluminium panels were therefore chosen, besides considering it being light-weighted which facilites the assembly and dismantling of the piece.Through the use of oxidizing metal, turning from silver to orange to red, the installation is able to react with actual environmental conditions, the rain and the humidity, eventually evolves according to time.

Professional Work | Rocco Design Architects Associates Ltd Project Type: Church + Community Service Centres Location: 210 Java Road, North Point, Hong Kong Design proposal for the Island ECC, an international church located in the North Point that is looking for a rebranding and new image. Worked on the massing design of the project as well as the curation of the workship hall.
35
Concept
The idea of the massing is to create a new image for ‘church’ which is welcoming to different stakeholders of the neighbourhood. The design could be summarised by 3 words: holy family (Mary and Jesus), embrace (a holding hand gesture) and encloseness (Naum Gabo’s sculpture).
Massing Options:
1. Slit 1 - Gospel’s light (manipulating with the lighting effect of space) 2. Wrap 1- Path to the gospel 3. Wrap 2 - Embracing posture
Plan
Plans drawn according to the Hong Kong’s Building Regulation. Improved layout proposed with set back approach and green area coverage included in the design.
