1. Kayak: This is basically used for recreational purpose. Kayaks are small boats (now, don’t call them ancestors) and are meant for fewer people. This is a human powered boat with one or more covered cockpits, one paddler and a double bladed paddle.
2. Rafts: You must have come across these types of boats from your history and geography books. Rafts are the primitive types of boats available. You can also name these as the ancestor of the modern generation boats. These are usually meant for one-way downstream travel. One of the most typical feature of these rafts are they are not propelled by any engine, even the use of paddles is generally not seen in these.
3. Motorboats- As the name suggests, it has all the technologies and machineries decked within it. This is one of the most modernised boat systems. It is basically powered by motors and engines.
4. Sailing ship: Here comes another contemporary boat model whose presence can be envisioned in blockbuster Hollywood cinemas based on pirated seas. Sailing ship is a large ship, much larger than the rafts and canoes. This is powered by the winds. Masts often square rigged are the main sailing propelling contributors in these ships. Owing to its large size, it is often referred to as ship rather than a boat.
