“Music in Motion gives our students the unique opportunity to learn from a high-caliber group of Houston Symphony musicians in preparation for All-State competition and at no cost to the students. That is truly special,” said Pat Paris, administrative coordinator of fine arts for CISD. “This could not be possible without The Pavilion and its support of music education in our school district. Students from all five CISD high schools, including The Woodlands, The Woodlands College Park, Oak Ridge, Conroe and Caney Creek, were in attendance. The two-hour master classes were led by 18 professional musicians from the Houston Symphony, all specializing in different instruments.

Music in Motion is sponsored by The Woodlands Development Company in honor of Cynthia Woods Mitchell’s commitment to the performing arts in our community.

It is hard to believe that the 2013 season is winding down. In my opinion this season has been the best The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion has had in several years. We have had some great contemporary concerts as well as performing arts events. There are still awesome events on the schedule including Fresh Beat Band, the annual Children’s Festival and Holly Jolly Symphony Spectacular. Partners also had a team at the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Oct. 20. Cancer is a terrible disease and these days it seems that everyone knows someone who has been affected by it. The Pavilion and Partners was able to raise more than $6,000! We want to thank everyone who helped raise money and who walked with our team. Thank you for all that you do.

Guests at the Partners Pre-Concert Dinner & Fundraiser helped raise money for The Pavilion’s performing arts events and educational outreach programs. The event was held prior to the Keith Urban concert at The Pavilion Aug. 16. Pictured left to right are Doug Rock, Julie Rock, Pavilion board member, Eva Ulmer and Karl Ulmer.

See you out there!

The team honored Cindy DuBois, former marketing and education director of The Pavilion and David Schlauch, operations manager of The Pavilion. “It is important to The Pavilion and Partners to honor our Pavilion family members who have been affected by cancer,” said Leslie Williams, special events and volunteer coordinator for The Pavilion. “This was a great way to give back to other charities in our community.” This year’s Walk took place at Market Street - The Woodlands and featured a live band, food, entertainment and lots more. The team held two fundraising events including a Spirit Night at Jerry Built Homegrown Burgers Oct. 16 and a tennis tournament Oct. 18. Jerry Built donated 20% of the total sales from Oct. 16 plus an additional 10 %. Thanks to the community and everyone who participated in the walk or donated money towards the team. For more information about Partners, please contact Leslie Williams, volunteer and special events coordinator at 281-210-1125 or lwilliams@woodlandscenter.org.

Pavilion Apple and Android Apps Now Both Available for Concertgoers According to a study conducted by the Pew Research Center more than half of adults in the U.S. are now smartphone owners. What does that mean to Pavilion concertgoers? We hope that you are one of those smartphone users so you can download The Pavilion’s smartphone apps. The Pavilion offers an iOS app and an Android app. The iOS app was originally launched back in October 2012, but has recently been updated. If you are heading to a concert with a group of friends you no longer have to worry about getting separated, because the app now comes with a Friend Finder. The interactive map includes a legend that makes meeting up easier. You also can receive push notifications and get updated on social media feeds. The Android app was launched in September and an update is coming soon. Right now the Android app has the same options as the iOS app, like detailed event information, buy tickets to events, add specific events to a favorites list, scroll over the interactive map to see where the concessions or restrooms are located, sign up for Pavilion newsletters, find out about guest information and more.

PAVILION It’s been quite the journey, but recently The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion hit 32,000 likes on Facebook. To reward Pavilion fans for their loyalty, as soon as we hit 50,000 likes, one winner is chosen to receive a $100 Pavilion gift certificate to purchase tickets to a concert or performing arts event of their choice in 2014. Congratulations to the four winners of the Fall Out Boy scavenger hunt! On Sept. 25, The Pavilion hosted a scavenger hunt, giving out clues via Twitter (@ThePavilion_TX). Contestants used these clues to get to the final location at the Smoke Dance statute outside the South Gates at the venue. They were awarded a pair of tickets for that night’s concert. Want to win tickets to an upcoming show? Make sure to follow us on Twitter for your next chance to win! Ever wonder what it’s like to work for The Pavilion? What about The Pavilion’s educational outreach programs? Our blog, “The Pavilion Press,” is the center for all things behind the scenes. Check it out for staff interviews, artist profiles, ticket giveaways and more. Don’t forget you can catch clips and photos of concerts on The Pavilion’s Instagram (@ThePavilion_TX). Tag The Pavilion in your photos and videos, and they might end up under our Fans board/album on our Pinterest or Facebook pages!

To find the apps, simply visit the App Store or Google Play and search for Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion and download to your phone. We’d love to hear what you think so take a moment and leave us a review. Now you can take The Pavilion with you anytime, anywhere.
