Tonight, we are excited to present The Music of The Eagles with the Houston Symphony. This is going to be an amazing musical performance featuring The Eagles’ greatest hits and vocal harmonies surrounded by a world-class orchestra. Thanks to the support of two important sponsors – Insperity and Devon Energy – we are able to offer free mezzanine and lawn seating for tonight’s performance. All seating is free for this event, thanks to The Woodlands Development Company, so arrive early to get the best seat. I would like to extend a special thank you to all of our sponsors and The Pavilion’s Board of Directors for their support in making our arts programming and free seating possible. Biographies

He has worked with some of the world’s greatest orchestras including the Royal Philharmonic in London, the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Minnesota Orchestra, the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, the Houston Symphony, the Baltimore Symphony, the San Diego Symphony and countless others.

John Hines

Havens recently completed the score for the film “Quo Vadis,” a Premier Pictures remake of the 1956 gladiator film. Havens is arranger and guest conductor for six symphonic rock programs including The Music of Led Zeppelin, The Music of The Doors, The Music of Pink Floyd, The Music of The Eagles, The Music of Queen and most recently, The Music of Michael Jackson. As a preacher’s son, John Hines started singing with his family in church as a young boy. Standing on a chair to be tall enough to play an upright bass next to his guitar-playing older brother Dan, Hines sang and played his first public duet in the second grade.

Hines is a journeyman studio and performance vocalist, and prolific song writer who has worked with the likes of Billy Davis Jr. and Marilynn McCoo, Phil Keaggy, Glen Campbell, CeCe Winans, Dion Demucchi, as well as a host of local artists in and out of the studio. He also has performed as a vocalist with many of the finest orchestras in the country. As a club musician in the 1970s, Hines was an avid fan of The Eagles’ music and covered just about every song they ever recorded while performing with his brother in The Hines Brother’s Band. Hines doesn’t hold a single degree from any school, except the school of hard knocks. He is, nonetheless, proud to be singing with such talented musicians as those performing on The Music of The Eagles.

Terry Brock’s first professional job in the music business was as a vocalist on the Kansas album “Drastic Measures” in 1983. He also toured with Kansas in support of that album and has worked with them on many other projects to date, including the band Seventh Key with Kansas bassist Billy Greer and featuring former Kansas violinist Robby Steinhardt.

Later, Brock worked on albums for Johnny Van Zant of Lynyrd Skynyrd and Molly Hatchet, among others, and became the lead vocalist and songwriter in the band, Network. Brock co-wrote the song, “Back In America,” originally recorded for the soundtrack to the movie “European Vacation” with Chevy Chase, and runs over the end credits. He then toured extensively with The Steve Morse Band and recorded two albums, “Native Sons” and “Walk In The Fire,” with his band Strangeways on BMG/RCA records. Brock relocated to New York City to work with famed producer Neil Kernon on bands such as Aviator, Britny Fox, Heaven’s Edge and Bonham. While living in New York, he also lent backing vocals to Michael Bolton’s albums “Everybody’s Crazy,” “Time, Love and Tenderness” and “Soul Provider” while still finding time to sing lead and backing vocals on more than 100 national TV commercials. Brock’s recent work includes his solo CD “Back To Eden,” the title track co-written with Survivor’s Jim Peterik and bonus track co-written with LeRoux’s Jim Odom. Other recent works include Seventh Key’s latest three releases, including the live DVD/CD release ”Live In Atlanta,” and lead vocalist and co-writer on Streets and City Boy guitarist Mike Slamer’s solo CD “Nowhere Land.” He is thrilled to be singing with The Music of The Eagles and absolutely loves performing with orchestras across the country.

Randy Jackson

Brent Havens

Berklee College of Music-trained arranger and conductor Brent Havens has written music for orchestras, feature films and virtually every kind of television. His TV work includes movies for networks such as ABC, CBS and ABC Family Channel, commercials, sports music for networks such as ESPN and even cartoons. Havens also has worked with The Doobie Brothers and the Milwaukee Symphony, arranging and conducting the combined group for Harley Davidson’s 100th Anniversary Birthday Party Finale attended by more than 150,000 fans.

Terry Brock

Conductor Biography

Randy Jackson’s first foray into recording success began with the selftitled “Zebra” debut album, released on Atlantic Records in 1983. Critically acclaimed for its lush rock sounds, due in large part to Jackson’s searing lead vocals and soaring guitar leads, the album sold 75,000 copies the first week.

“Who’s Behind The Door,” written by Jackson, received serious notice in the press and helped to form legions of Zebra fans almost instantly. Jackson is the lead singer of the rock band Zebra, and recently produced and engineered their latest album, “Zebra IV.” He also has toured as keyboardist and guitarist with the reunited Jefferson Airplane, and works extensively in the area of musical software and hardware development.

Goes Green

The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is excited to announce a newly installed recycling system for concertgoers to recycle and earn points when attending their favorite concert. PepsiCo has partnered with Waste Management and Greenopolis to create the world’s first consumer rewards-based recycling program of its kind and magnitude. Located in The Pavilion’s North Plaza, these interactive kiosks allow guests to recycle plastic and aluminum products with a UPC code and earn rewards. The kiosk provides each customer with a statement listing accumulated points that can be redeemed for rewards honored at thousands of restaurants, theaters and other retail establishments.

So, how does it work? Step 1: If you already have a rewards card, scan it. If not, you can take a rewards card from the machine. Step 2: Take the plastic or aluminum item you want to recycle and scan the UPC code on the machine. Step 3: Once you scan your item, the machine tells you where to deposit it in the machine. Step 4: The screen shows you how many points you have earned for your recyclable item. Step 5: Print your receipt to see your reward points.

Concert Etiquette The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion offers concertgoers live performing arts events in a picturesque setting featuring such world-renowned organizations as the Houston Symphony, Houston Ballet and Texas Music Festival Orchestra. The following information about concert etiquette will enhance your visit and help ensure that all of our guests enjoy their arts experience to the fullest. Electronic Devices

During the Performance

Take a break from the outside world! Please turn off all cellphones and other audible electronics. Recording devices and photography are not allowed, including with cellular phones.

Guest should refrain from entering and exiting their seats while a performance is in progress. If you must leave your seat, please proceed quickly and quietly to the nearest aisle or ask the nearest usher for assistance. Please be courteous to other members of the audience.

Late Seating Fashionably late? If you arrive after a performance has started, our ushers will do their best to seat you during an appropriate pause in the program. For certain performances, and at the request of the artist, guests seated in the orchestra section might have to wait until a transition is made between songs to proceed to their seats.

Applause Not sure when to applaud and when not to? A good rule of thumb is to watch the conductor. The conductor should let you know when a piece is over by lowering both arms and turning to face the audience. After the Concert

Children The Pavilion is a family-friendly venue and we love to see families at our performing arts events. However, please be courteous of both the orchestra and those around you by keeping youngsters from talking loudly and running around during the performance. Even if you are seated on the hill, loud children can be very distracting for everyone. We want all of our guests to have the most enjoyable concert experience possible.

9 • www.woodlandscenter.org

Bravo! As the applause dies down, the performers will put their instruments away and the leave the stage. The house lights will be turned on so guests can exit safely. To Picnic, or Not to Picnic? Picnics are welcome at all performing arts events at The Pavilion. Guests can bring in any type of food item; however, beverages can not be brought into the venue. Guests are welcome to bring empty water bottles to fill at water fountains or to purchase beverages at our concessions stands.
