Grimes Jersey Retirement Ceremony Woodforest Bank Stadium, Texas | Aug. 31, 2023 In Shenandoah, the legacy of Quentin Grimes has been cemented at College Park, where the high school basketball phenom and professional NBA player was honored in a jersey retirement ceremony. The event, which coincided with a College Park football game, saw Grimes' No. 5 jersey immortalized, a tribute to his impactful career as a Cavalier, and his journey from high school stardom to his current role with the New York Knicks.

Grimes, who experienced a surge of emotion and nerves during the ceremony, re ected on the signi cance of this milestone, surrounded by friends and former teammates. His journey has been remarkable: from graduating College Park in 2018 as a highly sought-after recruit to a transformative collegiate career that included a transfer from Kansas to Houston, where he earned All-American status and propelled the Cougars to the 2021 Final Four.
Grimes cont… Drafted by the Knicks, Grimes has established himself in the NBA, showcasing his talent by averaging double-digit points last season. His high school tenure was equally impressive, as he garnered accolades such as the Gatorade Texas Player of the Year and McDonald’s All-American recognition, all while playing under Coach Clifton McNeely and amassing 2,863 points over four years. Grimes' advice to current students is a re ection of his own path: relentlessly pursue your dreams and defy the skeptics. His own experiences of being underestimated fuel his belief that with determination, anything is attainable.
