Join us Saturday, May 6th for an exciting race, and enjoy a Mint Julep - the official cocktail of the Kentucky Derby

Tying together two of Kentucky's most treasured industries - horses & bourbon - just makes sense. The Mint Julep cocktail dates all the way back to the late 1770's. It is likely that the simple combination of bourbon, mint & sugar was enjoyed at the track long before it was the official drink of the big race. Sterling silver Julep cups were said to be be awarded as trophies to first place jockeys in the early 1820's. Naturally, the cocktail quickly became a staple at Churchill Downs after opening in 1875. It wasn’t until 1939 that the Mint Julep actually became the official drink of the Kentucky Derby.

NORTH SHORE IPA

It's finally spring, the temperatures are rising and golf is in full swing. This session IPA from True North Ale Co is a perfect addition to our beer roster. North Shore is brewed with high character base malts, oats, fruit-forward ale yeast & American hops. A light, soft, slightly nutty malt body provides the structure for flavors and aromas of peach, apricot, berries & melon. This beer does a fine job of retaining all the classic characteristics of an IPA, while clocking in at just 4.7% abv. Cheers!
