WORCESTER COUNTRY CLUB
VOLUME 2

From 2 Rice Street

Now that the dust has settled on our membership numbers and we have added new members to replace those that have left the club, we are in a position to take a few new members, particularly in the Social category. Our Social membership provides members with access to the Dining Room, Social Events, Pool, Tennis, Practice Range, and one round of golf per month (with the current guest fee paid.) This membership is a great way to introduce new members to the club who may not be quite ready for a full golf membership.

Our Membership Director Lori Cook will be more than happy to assist you if you have someone who may be interested. Contact her at cookl@worcestercc.org .

We have many new staff members at the club this spring; they are working hard to remember your names, but to ensure we are billing to the proper account, new staff members may politely ask your name when waiting on you. Thank you in advance for your understanding.

Finally, the weather forecast looks good for a Memorial Day Weekend! The past few years have been cold and rainy. We hope you have a great weekend and include the club in your plans.

PS – Dining reservations help us plan and staff accordingly. Please make every effort to make a reservation on the app or calling the club.

No more straws on the course!

In an effort to use less waste and to save the planet we are no longer using straws on the course

We are now using Greenware

It is made entirely from plants, is made in the USA and 100% compostable. Because of this, we know the lids are a bit harder to place on the cup.

Place the lid straight down from the top (not on an angle) and be gentle!!

We will be hosting more child-centered events! Please keep an eye on the calendar.

Lifeguard courses will be offered Mid-June.

With enough interest, we will plan a scuba diving certification course. Please contact John if you are interested.

The Pool and Snack Bar staff are overjoyed to see each of you this summer. If you have questions or comments, please direct them to me, so that I can be of assistance.

OF GOLF 7

Heart Health

Walking, carrying your bag and swinging all increase your heart rate and blood flow.

Weight Loss

The golden number of steps per day needed for weight loss is 10,000 and an 18-hole round easily exceeds that

HEALTH BENEFITS

Brain Stimulation

Regular daily walking strengthens the brain's memory circuits

Reduces Stress

The pleasure of walking in fresh air, socializing, with an added mental challenge means golf releases endorphins

Low Injury

Golf is a low impact activity in the sense that one walks on a soft, gently rolling surface. More mature players find this attractive as they can burn calories with a low risk of injury.

Improved Sleep

Exercise and fresh air are a powerful combination for improved sleep

Live Longer

A Swedish study found that golfers have a 40% lower death rate, which corresponds to a 5-year increase in life expectancy!
