Students on skills courses may be awarded proficiency awards of the Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and the British Canoe Union (BCU), where appropriate. RYA logbooks and handbooks and BCU log cards are available for purchase from the centre if required.

We would ask that participants do not wear ‘designer gear’. The older the clothes, the better!

Safety All of the staff and instructors at Upton Warren Outdoor Education Centre treat safety as a number one priority. All of our instructors are appropriately trained in the activities that they are teaching. The Centre is recognised by the RYA and BCU and holds an Adventure Activities Licensing Authority license and public liability insurance. However, applicants are reminded that all activities can carry some degree of risk. Personal accident insurance can be arranged through the centre, at a cost of £0.55 for the duration of the course. If this is required, please indicate on the booking form and include the cost with the course fee.

Cancellation If you cancel a course within four weeks of its start date, and we cannot fill the space, you will remain liable for the full course fee. If the cancellation is due to illness, a full refund will be made on receipt of a doctor’s certificate. If you cancel a course within six weeks of its start date, we reserve the right to retain 10% of the total course fee to cover administration costs.
