How big was Noah’s ark? How old was Anna in the temple? Who is Jesus? It’s guaranteed that you will learn a lot in one sitting. There is also a Fun Zone with puzzles, and the poems with crayon boxes in the table of contents have corresponding coloring pages. Furthermore, you get to color the Psalty’s Kids Co! Mascot, as you see the lyrics for “The Bible Alphabet Song,” along with Theo & Izzy theme images. Using crayons or colored pencils will prevent colors from bleeding on other pages. What an awesome way to hear, read, and learn stories from the Bible! We have poured our love into this project to make your experience memorable and delightful. THE BEGINNING Genesis 1:1-2:7

On the seven days of creation, God had a special plan. He created the universe with you in the palm of His hand. When there was darkness, He turned on the light. He spoke it into being - pure power and might. On day 2, God set the waters to flow on earth below. He also made the heaven, where His love can truly show. On day 3, God made the plants, the flowers, and the trees. He parted land from water and formed beautiful, blue seas. On day 4, God made the moon, the stars, and the sun. Each had its purpose for times and seasons – one by one. On day 5, the animals were made for the sea and the sky. The fish swam in water, and the birds flew high. On day 6, God made more animals to roam upon the land. But He made His greatest creation by forming a man. On day 7, God rested after having lots of fun. He saw that it was good, and His work was fully done.

ADAM AND EVE Genesis 2:8-3:24

10

From dust of the ground, God formed a man,

“Did God say from that tree you can't take?”

and breathed His own life into him.

"Yes! Don't eat, don’t touch, or we'll die."

A key part of God’s great creation plan, God made Adam boss of the garden.

"No, you won't! That's a lie," said the lying snake. “You'll know right from wrong and won't die.

God put Adam into a deep, deep sleep.

You'll be like God and become wise.”

And while Adam slept, God formed a woman for him to love and keep. And when he woke, they

Life would never be the same. The first sin was by Adam and Eve.

Along came a creature, a cunning snake.

And that's why Jesus came!

He made Eve question why.

CAIN AND ABEL Genesis 4:1-15

There was a man named Abel. His brother shunned his label. A good sacrifice – God said Abel was nice. He honored the Lord’s Table.

true. After seven years of plenty, there were seven years of none.

With his coat, they said to their father: “Joseph died.” They gave traders 20 shekels of silvers, not gold. To Egypt he went, and their father cried. "A beast ate your son," was the lie they told! Pharaoh saw that Joseph was a wise, wise man. And God blessed the Egyptian's house for Joseph’s sake. He left all he had in Joseph's hand - people to command and decisions to make.

16

Pharaoh made Joseph as his right-hand man. With lack of food, his brothers needed grain. Joseph was set over all of Egypt's land. But his dad was still filled with pain. His brothers stood before Joseph, and he acted very strange. He asked, "Where are you from?" He tested them to see if they changed. “From the land of Canaan, we come! They passed the test, and Joseph made himself known. He asked if his father still lives. His brother's were shocked with what they were shown. Joseph let them know he forgives. For his father, his brothers were sent. "Your evil, God meant for good." To Egypt Jacob happily went. It happened as God saw it should.

“OPEN!” SAYS ME! Exodus 14:16

Moses came to the Red Sea. “Lord, I need You to guide me.” He held up his stick. It wasn’t a trick. God parted the way to flee.

MILK & HONEY Numbers 13-14:38

God gave them a place to call their own. It belonged to the children of Israel without a loan. If they’d only had faith, they’d received. But they were scared and quite deceived. Canaan was a sight flowing with milk and honey. What the twelve men saw just wasn’t funny. “They are giants, and we’re like grasshoppers. How can we take the land, if we’re teeny-boppers?” “Wait!” Caleb and Joshua got it right. “We walk by faith and not by sight.” The others realized they’d had the wrong attitude. They felt bad for their actions and for being so rude. Only two would see God’s promise come true. It teaches us a lesson of what not to do. Don’t question God when He speaks to you from above. His plan for you is flawless, full of goodness and love.

LISTEN UP! 1 Samuel 1-3

Izzy: Hannah was a woman who prayed for a son. God blessed her with Samuel, child number one. And Hannah promised she’d dedicate her child. He’d live at the temple - a life undefiled.

Theo: “Go, Hannah.

Pray, Hannah.”

Izzy: Hannah offered three bulls, flour, and some wine. She washed Samuel’s face and made sure he was fine. Samuel was left alone with Priest Eli to raise. And Hannah gave to God all the worship and praise.

Theo: “Go Hannah.

Praise, Hannah.”

Izzy: Samuel grew in wisdom and the Word of the Lord. Wearing his linen ephod, it was God he adored. Of course, Hannah missed her little son dearly. So she visited him and brought a new robe yearly.

Theo: “Go, Hannah.

Sew, Hannah.”

THE GIANT FALLS! 1 Samuel 17:1-51

Goliath made Israel back down with fear. The soldiers lost sight that their God was near. He huffed, and he puffed, and he blew out hot air. The match looked fixed, and the battle wasn’t fair. The boy David said, “Don’t let your hearts fail.” But the men were scared; their faces were pale. He was a shepherd and cared for the sheep. He fought lions and bears, rather than sleep. David was small and Goliath, nine-feet tall. But he fought his best. Goliath would fall. He won in the Name of the Lord With five smooth stones, and not a sword. With one quick shot, the giant fell dead. Philistines saw him die, and they all fled. David was happy. “Yeah! Victory is mine.” When God is on your side, you will always shine.

26

MORE THAN ENOUGH 2 Kings 4:1-7

The widow had no money, not even a dime. They treated her like she’d committed a crime. But the man of God heard her cry. Said all she had to do was try. What would happen? She had no clue. She could lose her sons - not one, but two. He told her, “Get jars from everyone you know; believe God, and the oil will flow.” People gave her everything she needed. With acts of kindness, her job was seeded. She went home and shut the door. The oil flowed more and more. There was enough to pay her debt and even more. They had plenty to eat, which she was thankful for. She and her sons lived without any fears. The miracle God sent wiped away her tears.

27

TAKE A DIP! 2 Kings 5:1-14

Naaman lived with leprosy. His skin was not a comedy. In Jordan he dipped. Good! He got a grip. God gave him his remedy.

28

JOSIAH AS KING 2 Kings 22-23:25

Boys and girls listen, and I’ll tell you something. It’s the story of when I became the king. My father and grandpa did not do what’s right, but I chose to obey God with all of my might. I was eight. They crowned me king; they didn’t even wait. The people behaved badly throughout the land. I knew it was wrong, but I didn’t understand. They didn’t please God. His temple was a mess. God tried to reach them, but they couldn’t care less. When I ordered my people to work on God’s place, Hilkiah found God’s Word in disgrace. Hilkiah gave it to Shaphan, who read to me the scroll. When I heard God’s Words, they deeply touched my soul. I tore my clothes and cried because I was sad for all the wrong that was done, and God was very mad.

29

Huldah, the prophetess, told us to beware, but God showed his mercy and tender loving care. God promised He’d be kind while I was around I’d rule for thirty-one years, no trouble to be found. I gathered the people so they could hear, too, how important God’s Word is in all that we do. The people agreed with all their hearts, to follow God’s Word and do their own parts. The next thing I did was to quickly take out all in the temple that wasn’t devout. False gods and their idols all had to go, including the priests who were evil, also. We broke down bad altars and took them away. We made God’s house clean and asked Him to stay. I commanded that we all should celebrate the Passover feast that proved God is great. So, boys and girls, here's what I want you to see. You can do what's right and serve God just like me. You can do great things, even when you are small. God has a plan for you, just answer His call.

THE RIGHTEOUS PATH Psalm 1

Take the time to look at a tree. See how it grows big and tall! It needs sun, water, air, and soil. To be healthy, a tree needs them all. Just like a tree, we need things, too to be planted firmly in God’s Word. We live by Rivers of Living Water, and do all things that we’ve heard. To be blessed, we trust those who do right. Our life brings forth its fruit into its season. We will succeed in whatever we do. And God will bless us with wisdom and reason. The ungodly will not have the same blessings. They’re like chaff that the wind blows away. The Lord knows the way they will take. The ungodly will perish one day. As you continue to grow all through your life, remember who you live for. Don’t follow the people who are doing bad things, and you’ll have a blessed life, for sure.

King Nebuchadnezzar called for the boys.

The king thought himself a great guy.

MAN IN THE WHALE The Book of Jonah

God told Jonah to go to Nineveh, but did Jonah do it? No. He got on a ship and tried to figure, “How far away can I go?” A huge storm raged against the ship, and made all the sailors afraid. They cried and prayed to the gods they worshipped. But the big ship lurched and swayed. They found Jonah sleeping, and they woke him up. He admitted he was hiding from the God so real. Jonah told them to throw him overboard, and they said, “You’ve got yourself a deal.” The sailors called on Jonah’s God. They did not want to die for his mistake. They tossed him into the wild, wild water, and the sea stopped to shake.

36

The sailors believed in God’s power. And God sent a whale to swallow Jonah whole. He stayed in its belly three nights and three days. Where the whale went, he couldn’t control. When Jonah was ready to listen and obey, God made the whale spit Jonah on the beach. Jonah traveled to Nineveh, delivering God’s message to every Ninevite he could reach. And the whole country repented. They cried, “God, take away our shame.” And God withdrew his threat, for He loved them. And He was glad they’d called on His name.

JOHN THE BAPTIST Matthew 3:4, Mark 1:2-3, Luke 3:16

He ate honey from a bee. The Bible said he would see. Voice cried like thunder! What a great wonder! He thought, “Who’s worthy? Not me!”

SERMON ON THE MOUNT Matthew 5:1-12

Jesus taught His disciples the Beatitudes in a sermon. He named many ways you can live as a person. Being poor in spirit is not just about greed, it’s about trusting God for all that you need. When you mourn that means that you feel very sad. But Jesus can help you and make you feel glad. Meekness means you can still take last place, without feeling angry that you just lost the race. When we’re hungry and thirsty, we want to have dinner. God can make our hearts full with His love for a sinner. When we are kind to someone that doesn’t deserve it, it shows mercy like God who believes we are worth it. When you admit that you made a mistake from the start, and ask God to forgive you, that’s called pure in heart. Peace means we trust God and we keep ourselves calm, no matter what trouble around here is going on. Righteousness is a very big word. It means you’ll choose God, no matter what you’ve heard. In these many ways, Jesus calls you blessed. For each Beatitude, He’ll help you pass the test. With this lesson, there's a lot to learn. Great is the reward in heaven you’ll earn. 43

THE WISE MAN’S HOUSE Matthew 7:24-27

Two guys decided to build a house, and Joe built one on the sand. Henry built his house on a big flat rock a rock that held up the land. Both houses looked really great when the sun shone and the flowers grew. But only Henry’s house stood up straight when rain poured down, and big winds blew. When Joe stuck his head out the front door, he saw the wind whip up, and the big waves crash. And the house he’d worked so hard to build had turned into a pile of trash. What lesson can we learn from these two men? How does what they did apply to me? The foundation I build my life upon will determine the person I will be. So I live my life safe in Jesus Christ. I hear God’s Word, and I obey. Jesus calls me now to come to Him. And safe with Him I will stay. For the storms of life - they come and they go. Don’t live in a house on sand all breakable. Follow Jesus like a good disciple; and be wise with a house unshakeable. *This poem uses fictional names. Some words are make-believe details to teach a Bible lesson about building our lives on Jesus Christ as our rock and solid foundation. 44

JESUS CALMS THE SEA! Mark 4:35-41

The Lord Jesus climbed into a ship with his disciples to take a trip. When Jesus went to sleep, the others started to weep, because a mighty wind began to whip. “Wake up, Lord. A storm is crashing down. Don’t You care that we’re all going to drown?” Jesus said, “Be still. No more storm until we cross the sea to the next town.” The wind stopped blowing. And the rain stopped flowing. Jesus asked, “Why did you fear? You know I’m always here.” And safe they got where they were going.

FOOD FOR EVERYONE! Mark 6:37-44

Jesus saw many to feed. He did not ignore their need. Five loaves and two fish, Oh, what a good dish! I’m sure the people agreed.

THE RICH YOUNG RULER Mark 10:17-22

A rich young ruler asked Jesus, “Good Teacher, what must I do?” He wanted to live eternally. So, Jesus stopped to answer his plea: “Just do all the Scriptures tell you to.” “But I’ve kept them all the law since I was a boy.” Jesus loved the man so He said, “You must do one thing more. Sell all you have, and give it to the poor. Then come, follow me, and you will find joy.” What Jesus said made the rich man feel bad. He wanted Jesus, but not enough, to give up his money and all of his stuff. And he went away, lonely and sad. Jesus turned to his disciples and taught the rest. It’s easier for a camel to squeeze through a needle’s eye, than for a rich man to enter God’s Kingdom so high. You must love God ‘cause He is the best.

51

SIMEON AND ANNA Luke 2:22-38

Where the Law said first sons must be dedicated, Mary and Joseph took Jesus to the place. Simeon and Anna had waited their whole lives. They were two people wanting to see the boy’s face. Simeon went to the temple as he was led by the Spirit. He was an old man just and devout. He would soon see the baby who’d grow up to be the Messiah. God told him he’d see the Savior, and Simeon did not doubt. He spoke of the people that Jesus would reach. He was glad to hold baby Jesus and pray. Mary thought all about these things and remembered it all. God’s promise to Simeon was fulfilled on that day. At 84, Anna lived a life committed to God. When Anna saw Jesus, she celebrated His worth. She spoke of God’s redemption through this babe. Not all would be happy of Jesus’s purpose on Earth. Mary and Joseph went home. Simeon and Anna praised God for promises come true. God blessed them with a look at the Messiah. Anna and Simeon had done all that God wanted them to.

MARY AND MARTHA Luke 10:38-42

Theo: When Jesus came to visit in the town called Bethany, Martha welcomed him into her home. And Mary agreed.

Izzy: “Martha was generous!” Theo: Martha gave Jesus the very best seat, and her sister Mary sat at His feet. But Martha fretted.

Izzy: “Martha was busy!” Theo: Martha was focused on serving. She did everything she was able. But Mary just listened to Jesus.

Izzy: “Martha was angry!” Theo: Martha went to Jesus and said, “Lord, don’t You see? Tell that sister of mine to help me.”

54

Izzy: “Jesus was kind.” Theo: He said, “Martha, you worry about so much stuff. Mary has chosen what’s truly enough. To spend time alone with me.”

Izzy: “Now I don’t have to fret about anything. I just need to sit in the presence of the King.”

Theo: “King Jesus.”

PAUL SEES THE LIGHT! Acts 9:1-22

My name is Saul, and I'm filled with pride. I think what I’m doing is best. I know God’s laws and with my sword at my side, I’m looking for men of the Way to arrest. I hate all the people who dare say that Jesus is God’s Son. I don’t believe that this is the way God wants things done. On my way to Damascus on my high horse, I suddenly hear a loud voice. I fall to the ground with a very great force, and now I must make a choice. I hear, “Saul, Saul why are you persecuting me?” And my heart is broken. With a bright light in my eyes, I can no longer see; and I ask, “Lord, who has spoken?” The voice says loudly, "Arise and go to the city. I'll tell you what to do." I wait for three days in Damascus full of self-pity; and question all that I knew.

62

God asks Ananias, a prophet of God, to help me with my sight. Ananias is scared because I was chasing people, but now I decide to do what is right. When Ananias comes, scales fall from my eyes. I eat and become very strong. My sight is returned and then I'm baptized. God forgave me for all I did wrong. All are amazed and think my new character strange - to hear me preach of Jesus. I thank God for His will to make me change. His Son is the One who frees us. I’m no longer Saul, no more hatred I spread. The Gospel of Jesus I teach. My name is now Paul, I win souls instead; and many people I reach. If you don't know God, He’ll meet you where you live. Just like me, He’ll change your life, too. Call on Him and tell him whatever you feel. Let Him make you new.

63

PAUL AND SILAS Acts 16:13-34

Paul and Silas were missionaries who traveled to Philippi, a city in Macedonia, north of Greece. They sat by the riverside where believers met. And women listened while they said their piece. The Lord touched the heart of a woman named Lydia, and caused her to respond to things said by Paul. Lydia was baptized with her whole household because she openly answered God’s call. She asked Paul and Silas to stay at her house. And they were happy to spend time there. But whenever they went out, a girl followed them. She yelled and caused trouble everywhere. She was earning money for some bad men, and they wanted Paul to leave her alone. But all her noise bothered Paul and Silas - until Paul prayed, “In the name of Jesus, be gone.” Right away the girl changed her way, and came into her right mind. So her bosses dragged Paul and Silas into court, and don’t think they were just fined.

64

No! The law guys tore up Paul’s clothes, had them both beaten and arrested. They got tossed into prison, their feet locked in stocks, and their faith was sorely tested. It was the jailer’s job to keep all the prisoners locked up, including Paul and Silas and other men. If something happened and the prisoners escaped, nobody’d ever see the jailer again. But guess what? At midnight Paul and Silas sang. And all the prisoners heard their voices raised. The earth quaked and the doors flew open. They were all free - God be praised! But when the jailer woke and saw the doors open, he drew his sword to die, for he thought the prisoners had fled. Paul yelled, “Don’t hurt yourself. We’re all here.” Come, learn about Jesus instead. The jailer called for lights, and he rushed in. Trembling with fear, he fell down and raved. When he brought Paul and Silas out, he said, “Sirs, tell me what I must do to be saved.” “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ,” Paul said. And they shared the word of the Lord. And the whole family was baptized that very hour - being all of one accord. The jailer brought Paul and Silas into his house. He fed them, feeling so bold. He bandaged their wounds and cared for them; for he was saved with his whole household.

His arms wide because we all sinned. He doesn’t fly in the sky with an “S” on His chest. But His head hung on the cross, and we know the rest. I said to my mom, “I’m sad Jesus had to die.” But it’s our only way to heaven, so I won’t cry. You won’t see Him shooting webs or climbing a wall. The cross was heavy, made him stagger and fall. But He loved us and stood, the Son of Man. No night signal in the sky can do what He can. His love makes me smile, and He’s like no other. I love Jesus like family, ’specially my brother. You won’t see Him - green body and muscly head. The only thing that matters is the blood He shed.

He’s the champ Who has won HIP HIP HOORAY! When we pray, we can talk with Him every day. He is great, more powerful than everyone. He’s my Superhero, and I’m His Number one. You all know the One I’m talking about. Jesus, my hero, makes me want to shout. He’s a person we can look UP to, not make-believe—He’s absolutely true. Thank you, Jesus for being my very best friend. You are Alpha, Omega, Beginning, and End.

SALVATION POEM In Matthew 19:14, Jesus said, "Let the children come to me. Don't stop them! For the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to those who are like these children" (New Living Translation). That means you are precious in God’s sight, whether you are young physically, or young at heart. The words in this poem are a reminder that Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice to show you that He loves you. Theo and Izzy wrote the poem for you to recite, but we pray that you feel the moving of the Holy Spirit in your life.

Thank you, Jesus, for dying for me. By Your death, You set me free. Thank you, Jesus, for making me sing Of the love and joy and peace You bring. Come into my life today. And I will love You and obey.
