adventure [ad-ven-cher]: (noun,verb)
1. an exciting or very unusual experience.
athletics
Like most college campuses, we love the excitement of sporting events, especially when our own students are competing. The Bluefield Rams are known for their competitive spirit on the field of play. Bluefield College is affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics and competes in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. As part of its educational experience, the college fields twelve intercollegiate teams, including baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, soccer, tennis, softball, volleyball, and cheerleading.
intramural sports
The Intramural Sports Program is one of the most popular extracurricular activities on campus. It is a great way to meet new people and continue playing the sports you have grown to love. Intramurals offer team as well as individual sport leagues. You can organize your own team or utilize the Free Agent list. The intramurals staff organizes the leagues, supervises play, monitors and tracks league standings, and organizes the tournaments. All you have to do is be a good sport and have a great time.
outDoor activities
If you love getting outside, there is no better place to be in Virginia than Bluefield. The campus is just miles away from the Appalachian Trail, a popular destination of both students and faculty. Our Outdoor Club organizes trips for hiking, white water rafting, caving, mountain biking, skiing, and snowboarding. Bluefield has four distinct seasons, crisp mountain air, and a world of natural wonders to explore. We even have our own nature trail located on campus.

“From the moment I arrived on Bluefield College’s campus, I felt a sense of wonder about the beauty of the mountainous surroundings as well as an excitement about the possibility of new friends – kindred spirits – with whom I might share my collegiate journey. Although the initial excitement faded with time, the joy that I experienced living day to day with wonderful new friends, both students and faculty members, eclipsed every expectation I had on that first day. My emotional, spiritual and educational experience deepened with time and, to this day, I look back on my Bluefield College years as a favorite chapter in my life, one that I will cherish forever in deeper and more meaningful ways – ways that only life experience can propagate.” Gary Jones President, Full Sail University Bluefield College Alumni ‘75
