Ideal living
If you’re in need of open space, there are some great parks on offer including Alexandra Park which boasts 196 acres of parkland, a boating lake, skate park, various playgrounds and all year round ice skating at Alexandra Palace. There is also the more modest Cherry Tree Park and impressive Highgate Wood which has arguably one of the best children’s playgrounds and an excellent café in the park.
In terms of schooling, Muswell Hill boasts some great primary and secondary schools and is home to Tetherdown, Our Lady of Muswell Catholic Primary School, Rhodes Avenue Primary School, Coldfall Primary School, Muswell Hill Primary School, and St James C of E Primary, with the major state secondary schools being Fortismere and Alexandra Park School. Locals have their pick of several private schools, including Norfolk House, Highgate School and Channing School for girls.
Whilst Muswell Hill doesn’t have its own tube station, nearby tube stations include Bounds Green, East Finchley, Finsbury Park, Highgate and Turnpike Lane. Overground train services run from Alexandra Palace, Hornsey and Finsbury Park to destinations such as Moorgate, Enfield and Welwyn Garden City. www.hamptons.co.uk
Residents are also spoilt for choice with a good selection of clothing and gift shops, such as Whistles, White Stuff, Oliver Bonas and Sweaty Betty.
