St Albans High School For Girls All ethos ensures that in and outside the classroom our pupils are encouraged to and rewarded for giving of their best, whatever their passions and aspirations. Happy, well-supported young people who are inspired and encouraged to develop their own independent opinions and explore their own interests do very well in exams. But more importantly, they are equipped to go forth and lead successful, fulfilling lives. We often speak of the importance of living ‘lives of consequence’ – we prepare the young people in our care to make a meaningful impact on the world – and they do just that. When you join STAHS, as a pupil and as a family, you join a warm and giving community for life. Our alumni and friends are very much a part of day-to-day events at the School, and the advice, mentoring and guidance they provide our current staff and pupils are invaluable. Maple Primary School Maple is a county, co-educational, day school for children between the ages of four and eleven years. It opened in 1969 on the present site in Hall Place Gardens. The school takes its name from Sir John Blundell Maple, MP, who was a freeman of the city in 1894. The school building contains seven mainstream classrooms and a smaller classroom for teaching hearing impaired children. There is a large hall equipped for P.E. which is also used for assemblies, drama and music; and a separate dining room next to the kitchen where meals are cooked on site every day. The school has a central fiction and non-fiction library and a small room for instrumental lessons. Outside, Maple is extremely fortunate to have a large playing field, two playgrounds, a conservation area, and an outdoor learning / play area for the Reception Class. The Abbey C E V A Primary School The Abbey School is a one form entry primary school which caters for children from rising 5 to 11. There are 210 pupils on roll and we operate a single intake into Reception each September. The class teachers are responsible for the education and welfare of the children in their class. Each class is supported by a Teaching Assistant with a full-time Early Years Practitioner in Reception. This is indeed a school where Every Child Matters and this fact is reflected in the school’s commitment to inclusive education. My staff and I value each and every one of our pupils as individuals and our aim is to ensure that coming to school is a positive experience for all of them; we understand that children learn best when they are happy and feel secure. Fountain Montessori Pre -School St Albans Montessori classrooms and materials encourage curiosity and discovery. Your child will progress at the pace that is unique and perfect for them. In a patient, kind and nurturing environment, children learn to take responsibility for their growth, both academic and emotional. Through everyday activities, children learn coordination and dexterity, how to take care of themselves and their environment, and how to interact with others. As they dress, clean, ask for help, and participate in the classroom, they develop self-esteem and independence. 77 Holywell Hill, St Albans AL1 1HF. 020 3904 7493 www.fountainmontessori.com/
