Interview with Silvana Fabbrini Interiors

Can you tell us a little of the background of Silvana Fabbrini Interior Design? I have always been very creative in and around the home and as a hobby I renovated a couple of flats in Italy and London. Following these experiences I decided to follow my passion and qualify as an interior designer to complement my natural flair for design. As such Silvana Fabbrini interior Design was set up to offer an end-to-end service providing functional and beautiful homes. We focus on truly changing the approach to interiors and creating environments that welcome various activities at home. How would you describe the role of an interior designer? Fundamentally we inspire and introduce clients to new ideas, we provide accurate design and advise on how to optimise spaces, layouts, products, furniture, materials and surfaces. We also provide heating and electrical plans in accordance with different laws and specifications to offer a safe home for our clients. We work with dedicated contractors to make our drawings a reality and complete projects in a timely manner. Does the personality of the client have a bearing on your design process? Absolutely! It’s our job to understand the client’s taste, needs and personality to offer the best design for each of them. My clients are my biggest source of inspiration and the design process is entirely focused on their initial idea. What are the most popular requests from clients nowadays? Interior design moves as fast as technologies which are transforming the way we use our homes so we always have different requests. However our homes lately have become a place to work/school children, to exercise and relax so we are asked more and more to create flexible spaces to accommodate different activities for the family. We have seen a few clients opting for bespoke furniture to optimise spaces and for specific functions. Silvana, you do more than just design a room with fabrics and furniture, please give us an insight into your whole process? It is often overwhelming choosing the right help and services so we provide an end to end solution which also includes design and build. Our contractors can offer home improvements including loft conversion, extensions, electrics, pluming and bespoke furniture. Our process will guide you and develop the best option for your project, making each step clear, manageable and flexible. Here are the main steps: • Initial free consultation • Receive our proposal, set up a further meeting for a detailed site survey and create a bespoke service. • Develop the design concept. • Construction and project management. • Sourcing of materials and furniture final installation, ensuring everything is in order from paperwork to final details of the project deliverables. Is there a recent project that you are particularly proud of and what made it standout from the rest? I am proud of all my projects and clients, the last one is always the one that standouts…until next one! Every project is different. I particularly enjoy meeting and learning more about clients and what makes them happy so I can translate it into a design. Seeing the smile and joy on clients’ faces at the end is so rewarding.
