COVET COLLECTION NEW RELEASE

PATAGONIA CAPSULE Inspired by one of the most fascinating natural phenomenons in the world, the spellbinding caves are located in General Carrera Lake in the Patagonia region. The shapes, materials, and design of these pieces are inspired not only by the Marble Cathedral but by the Patagonia region and its rich history as well. Patagonia marble turns these items into a cohesive and exciting collection of carefully selected items. Signed by Covet House, this marvelous capsule collection was brought to life. Take a look.

GRAVA DINING TABLE

As you travel through the South of the Patagonia region, the soils grow more arid and rocky, and large swaths of stream-rounded pebbles, known as grava patagónica, can be found metal champagne, black lacquer, and the Patagonia marble, create the same illusion of this soil. An opulent item, with its four modern legs, also plays with the use of the same finishes. Exciting, this table will be the conversation starter at any dinner party.

PERITO DESK

At the golden hour, the famous Perito Moreno Glaciar irradiates a soft and warm color, contrasting with the coldness of these ice plates. This phenomenon inspired the top of Perito Desk. The illuminance and wideness of the plain glacier are represented through the simple use of a straight Patagonia marble surface, mixed with some small metal champagne details, both on the legs and top. A simplistic design that elevates itself for its content, for its story, and for being a unique piece.

CARRERA BOOKCASE The massive marble deposits on the border of General Carrera Lake have been eroded away by the water over 6,200 years, resulting in caves, tunnels, and massive columns of pure marble. This tall bookcase serves as the homage to this natural beautiful phenomenon. Extensive utility compartments in dark walnut veneer over a Patagonia marble top, finishing in an exquisite modern

PHILIPPE STARCK Philippe Starck has a goal, a vision: to better the lives of as many people as possible via creativity, in whatever shape it takes. This artistic and political, rebellious and benign, pragmatic and subversive obligation, according to Starck, should be shared by everybody. His prescient awareness of ecological consequences, deep understanding of contemporary mutations, enthusiasm for imagining new lifestyles, determination to change the world, commitment to sustainable degrowth, love of ideas, and concern with defending the intelligence of usefulness – and the usefulness of intelligence – have propelled him from iconic creation to iconic creation. Philippe Starck is many things: an inventor, a creator, an architect, a designer, and an artistic director, but above all, he is an honest guy descended from Renaissance artists, and one of the most prominent names in French and international design.

Paris is synonymous with fine dining experiences, chic fashion, inspiring museums, beautiful architecture, and... glamorous cinema. From Le Voyage dans la Lune (1902) to Titane (2021), the City of Lights has always been connected to some of the most important cinema movements in history. Paris has this unique romantic atmosphere and it’s almost impossible to detach the city from the directors, the acting or the stories. Incredibly alluring and infinitely poetic, French cinema is about tradition and, at the same time, pushing this art forward.

ASCENSEUR POUR L’ÉCHAFAUD From the contrasting black and white photography to the improvised score by Miles Davis and the noir suspense all around, Ascenseur pour l’échafaud is one of those movies that can teach you so much about cinema as the quintessential art of modern times. A masterpiece that becomes even better with the performance by Jeanne Moreau.

À BOUT DE SOUFFLE Jean-Luc Godard is probably the ultimate enfant terrible of French cinema. Known for ignoring conventional rules of editing, the influential À Bout de Souffle changed cinema forever. It makes use of elements from both Hollywood romanticism and the everyday banal life, and it’s this dialogue that makes the movie so good.

BELLE DE JOUR Starring Catherine Deneuve, Belle de Jour introduced us to the “troubled but fascinating French woman” stereotype. On the other hand, Luis Buñuel constantly blurs the line between what is real and what is not. Although there is no explicit sex in the movie, Belle du Jour will always be remembered as the utmost erotic film of contemporary society.

LAST TANGO IN PARIS Melancholic and sexual in equal doses, Last Tango In Paris is a scandalous movie in all of its essence. Lots of artistic beauty can be found as the movie unfolds, and the performance by Marlon Brando is essential to its avant-garde expression. Despite its shocking nature, Last Tango In Paris is one of the most liberating movies ever made.

PICKPOCKET With a sophisticated story style, Robert Bresson explores moral issues with abrasive realism in Pickpocket. Philosophical and passionate, it tells the story of a man who can’t stop stealing. The magic lies in the details of the narration and the emotional struggle and inner conflict that is so illustrative of the main character.

THE DREAMERS Set in Paris circa 1968, a period of social rebellion, The Dreamers follows the unconventional lifestyle of two young Parisians and an American exchange student. A homage to the Nouvelle vague cinema, this movie is filled with sexual discovery, cultural references and the

PARIS SPECIAL

impact of freedom on the society we know today.

29

One of the defining films of Nouvelle vague, Les 400 Coups by François Truffaut is a boyhood story. Honest, personal, and heartbreaking, it is truly an art narrative film and highlights its auteur through a very distinctive stylistic signature. Also, it bridges a very needed correlation between cinema and literature.

LES AMANTS DU PONT-NEUF Leos Carax’s Les Amants du Pont-Neuf is a heartbreaking story about the relationship between a homeless man and a woman who is going blind. This movie has some soul-stirring sequences but it’s the depiction of doomed love that made it a gem of French cinema. Deeply touching and indisputably human.

LA HAINE Mathieu Kassovitz was awarded the Best Director prize at Cannes Film Festival in 1995 for La Haine. In this movie, we get to see through the eyes of three young men after a violent riot in Paris. Raw and captivating, La Haine is a real lesson on powerful cinematography.

AMOUR Directed by the always charismatic Michael Haneke, Amour is a tale of commitment and affection between an 80-year-old couple. It examines the effects of love and death, and it won the Palme d’Or at the 2012 Cannes Film Festival. Plus, there are the otherworldly performances by Jean-Louis Trintignant and Emmanuelle Riva. Unmissable, like all the other movies on this list.

From the very beginning, French cinema has always been bursting with innovative ideas. Sometimes experimental, sometimes futuristic, but always conceptual and revolutionary. Paris stood at the cinematic forefront all these years, by combining images, music, lighting, dialogue and special effects in order to reflect on something. That’s the thing with French cinema - besides being so charming, it helps us understand our lives and the lives of others around us.

“I always ask that they send the plans and photographs so that I can have an idea of the potential project even before our first meeting. Then, most often, I want to visit the site and meet with the client in order to get to know each other and to establish a dialogue that will give me valuable insights into what the client is looking for and how far he has developed his requests.” At the end of this dialogue, a contract is drawn up for the initial general design phase of the project. It is then for Juan to make a proposal by submitting the general plans of the project and some elevations that allow him to make 2 or 3 “Renderings” of the main pieces. These color perspectives are very close to the final result both in terms of color, the rendering of materials and materials, furniture, fabrics ... Molyneux’s customers are often amazed to see how the final result is faithful to the renderings that he presented a few months earlier. “What I expect from a client for the project to be fully successful is to be motivated and that at the end of the proposal phase, he has made a decision about my proposals. There is nothing worse than indecisive personalities. Of course, changes are always possible, as long as they do not impact the main lines of a project, its foundations if you prefer.” he added. As a global citizen, Molyneux brings a wide-ranging curiosity about all things beautiful to each project he does. His interiors have a strong sense of location about them. They’re the result of a long dialogue with the customer. They’ve been meticulously made. With over four decades of experience, he accepts and interprets— and reinterprets—the past in his work, building a legacy that will for sure, endured the test of time.

The harshness and cold of the metals used all over the project aesthetic are the perfect antitheses for the softness of the upholstery, where mixing these types of materials represents a true challenge. This task was achieved by balancing the marbles, metals, and velvets to their excelling potential. Separated from the living room by the Altura Mirror from Caffe Latte, which serves as a screen but a divider as well, the dining room is paramount to the contemporary luxury aesthetic. We can almost imagine a VIP dinner party, with the top names in the movie or music industry get together around the amazing Luxxu’s Apotheosis Dining Table. Again, the play on elements elevates this room to another level, contrasting organic shapes and earthly tones to the contemporary shapes of the furniture and architecture. Noir hues from the Lapiaz Console by Boca do Lobo and from the Lloyd Bookcase by Luxxu, leaves space for the deep green velvet from Stola Dining Chair by Brabbu or the golden finishes from the Hera Suspension Lamp and the Xisto Rug by Rug’Society to pop up. Supremely decorated to the finest detail, this dining area has the same cohesive elements as the other rooms to provide a rich, deluxe contemporary experience. A smaller service bathroom, where the appeal is all about the tiniest elements. Gold is the main theme, exuding from all of the furniture lighting and accessory pieces. The massive Colosseum Mirror by Maison Valentina reflects the exuberant aesthetic and provides room for other pieces to shine, like the Waterfall Pendant from Luxxu, an elegant pendant lamp, made with gold plated brass combined with ribbed fine tubes of crystal glass. The main piece is the Darian Freestanding, also from Maison Valentina, a contemporary item that was conceived with precise knowledge of production techniques and materials, each with different specialties, from metalwork to upholstery. It features a cluster of gold plated brass asymmetrical bars enveloping a black leather structure, that results in a blend of artful and stout personalities. A statement piece, for a statement room. Taking much inspiration from the words “less is more”, this quiet and soothing master bedroom is the culmination of all the previous areas, but in a much cleaner and softer way. Wooden panels transform this otherwise ordinary and simple room into a masterful and glamourous division. An in-built wardrobe with incorporated LEDs gives this room a feeling of entering some of the most exclusive high-end luxury fashion ateliers. Absolutely contemporary, a symbiosis between soft fabrics and the hardness of the finishes serves a coveted look. The massive headboard from Luxxu’s Chateau Bed fits perfectly with the two side tables and the lighting pieces for a deeper look, on the other hand, the softness of the Baltic Rug by Brabbu spreads comfort to every inch of the bedroom. The idyllic place for a well-deserved rest. Straight out a scene from an academy award movie, this master bathroom exudes lust and opulence. Every detail in this ambiance almost looks like from the set from a blockbuster A-list movie.

Although in the same open space area, the dining room stands out not only because the architecture and color of the walls are different from the other rooms, but also because of how this corner of the pops and demands your attention. Suddenly, a mix of styles and finishes grabs your eye, with Beyond Dining Table from Luxxu, where the distinctive features create a perfect balance between the best hand-crafted wood with brass accents and the warm and golden tones on the polished surface. These golden tones are complemented by Boca do Lobo’s Nº 11 Chair. This accent chair is made of gold-plated solid cast brass with a varnish finish and includes a wide bow back rail sustained by languid spindles that drip solid metal from the apron up, while the legs are generously curled, producing a visual impression that defies physics. Finally, the Dorsey Suspension Lamp from Delightfull, a mid-century modern piece that is as versatile as the other pieces, creating a balanced and luxurious dining room setting. It’s not a secret that white is considered the color for cleanliness, so this all-white, bright kitchen is a perfect example of how to achieve the perfect contemporary modern feel incorporated into a modern classic design. The island counter with a marble top for those “in a hurry breakfast” accompanied by the illuminating and sleek Metamorphosis Sconce, through a careful artistic approach, explores new surprising design techniques and magnificent finishes. The two primary finishes, marble and brass, come together in a comfortable and beautiful dialogue between the roughness of brass and the beauty of marble. Metamorphosis Sconce is like a luxury jewel and the most sophisticated lightning accessories for this modern kitchen. Maison Valentina redesigned the Shield Mirror, the meaning of protection and security, after being inspired by the most ancient and precious armor, the Shield of Achilles. This is the most amazing mirror to have in your modern master bathroom since it is both decorative and functional. Eden Side Table from Boca do Lobo, elevates it to a luxury room by adding a perfect hue of gold, combining cohesively with the other elements and rooms. Masterfully decorated, the master bedroom is a full-on luxury experience by the looks of it all. The Forbes Five Star hotel comprises the first 12 floors of the split level structure that rises 550 feet above West 53rd Street, directly across the street from the Museum of Modern Art and moments away from Fifth Avenue’s famed shopping. The lowest levels of the hotel are hidden by a 125-foot wide corrugated crystal-like curtain that shines both inside and out. The hotel’s furnishings were designed by Gilles & Boissier, a Paris-based interior design firm that combines Baccarat’s French classic aesthetics with a fantastical modern sensibility. The 50-story skyscraper was designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, with residential design by Tony Ingrao, a New York-based designer and member of the Architectural Digest 100. The tower’s sixty private units will have access to all of the hotel’s facilities and will have their own entrance. For the public areas and rooms, classic pieces from the companies’ archives and current collections were gathered. Beautiful parquet wood flooring, woven carpets, hand-pleated silk wall coverings, steel ribbed ceilings, mica-coated ceilings, and mirror and marble wall treatments are among the other highlights. Seventeen handcrafted chandeliers hang around the property, several of which are strung by rough cord rope, while one standout chandelier sits in the second-floor bar and is built entirely of wood. Stéphanie and Frédéric Chambre, two French curators, curated the hotel’s art collection, which spans more than 250 years and includes pieces from major movements. Throughout the hotel, commissioned unique paintings and one-of-a-kind furnishings by famous French painters Francois Houten and Armand Jonckers can be found. Each of the 114 guest rooms and suites at the hotel seems like a little haven. The large Classic King room category is followed by the Baccarat Suite, the hotel’s “pièce de résistance.” All of the rooms include floorto-ceiling windows, sitting spaces, and Mascioni bespoke jacquard bedding. White marble bathrooms have glass-enclosed showers with

enormous showerheads and bespoke toiletries made for the hotel by Parisian fragrance Francis Kurkdjian, which are hidden from the sleeping area by hand-painted French doors. All features of the room, including temperature, lighting, and room service, will be controlled by a tablet using cuttingedge technology. Baccarat crystal stemware is housed in a custom-designed Baccarat red enamel mini bar for upgraded in-room wine and cocktail experiences. A button labeled “Champagne” on the phone handset allows guests to request a bottle of their favorite vintage to be delivered to their rooms, complete with characteristic Baccarat fluted glasses. Guests staying in the premium suites will receive complimentary La Mer skincare items as well as evening salon services. Guests can also utilize the house vehicle for transportation within 15 blocks of the property for free. Guests may experience Chef Kreuther’s French-inspired cuisine concept during the day and evening on the hotel’s second level. Chef Kreuther’s food has been profoundly steeped in his Alsatian ancestry and classic French culinary technique throughout his distinguished career, since he hails from the French province of Alsace. His culinary approach is guided by an unrelenting dedication to perfection and filled with deliberate workmanship and luxury—qualities that are synonymous with the Baccarat brand, both as a hotel and as world-class artisans, whose storied factory is located near Kreuther’s boyhood home. Light breakfast cuisine, all-day dining options, afternoon tea, weekend brunch, and drinks are available in the Grand Salon. Handcrafted cocktails, aperitifs, excellent wines, and a light nibbles menu are served in the hotel’s bar, which is inspired by the stables of Versailles. Guests can also meet on the neighboring seasonal Le Jardin patio, which has a view of MoMA. Guests will be served beverages from a kaleidoscope of more than 15,000 pieces of mixed-and-matched Baccarat crystal stemware around the hotel. Baccarat has teamed up with La Mer, the world’s most distinguished skincare brand, to open the tiny Spa de La Mer, the company’s first spa in the United States. The four treatment rooms, which are designed to resemble a beautiful European beach hideaway, entice tourists and locals seeking invigorating treatments and relaxing respites. The prestigious Forbes Five Star and AAA (American Automobile Association) Five Diamond Awards have been bestowed upon the Baccarat Hotel New York, as well as the Sharecare Health Security VERIFIED® completing and maintaining verification on more than 360 global health security standards. HOTEL Conservatorium is Amsterdam’s foremost luxury lifestyle palace, located in the midst of the city’s famed museum area. The majestic neogothic Conservatorium hotel, which stands on the historic site of the Sweelinck Conservatory of Music, is located just across from the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, and Stedelijk Museum, and near to the luxury shopping district, the P.C. Hooftstraat. Opened in December 2011, was created for a new generation of travelers who want a hotel to not only deliver immaculate contemporary design, outstanding service, and exemplary amenities but also to provide them access to a destination’s social and cultural life. The iconic buildings, which were originally intended to house the Rijkspostspaarbank and are now inhabited by the Sweelinck Conservatorium, were painstakingly restored and remodeled by the world-famous Italian architect-designer Piero Lissoni starting in 1987. The four-year construction project was a visually beautiful tribute to modern luxury. The Set has bought this grand mansion right off the famous Museum Square and has restored it to its full glory, immediately fascinated by the building’s rich heritage. The hotel has 129 rooms, including 64 suites, spread out across eight levels and varying in size from a comfortable 28 square meters to a massive 170 square meters. A duplex configuration with big functional windows and exposed structural beams have been constructed in little under half of the rooms. Every room and suite at the hotel has Piero Lissoni’s magnificent modern design and handmade furnishings, as well as flat-screen televisions, high-speed wireless internet, fully stocked minibars, plush 100 percent cotton bed linen and super-sized towels, and designer bathroom items. CovetED had the opportunity to taste the delicacies of Conservatorium’s restaurants and bars which are overseen by Dutch Executive Chef Schilo van Coevorden, who has immediately proven popular with tourists and ‘in-the-know residents alike, with modern food that fits Lissoni’s dramatic environment. The Brasserie & Lounge is available all day for modern dining with the freshest local and seasonal foods and is located in the vast atrium, a stunning internal courtyard. Taiko Cuisine, Chef Schilo van Coevorden’s Contemporary Asian Inspired restaurant in the Conservatorium hotel, is named after the antique Japanese drums, which have a fantastic beat. Every weekend, a Taiko drummer adds melodious, ambient tones to the powerful, yet refined Asian flavors of Schilo’s meals. The menu and culinary style have developed throughout time, influenced by various cuisines from across the world, providing an unmatchable tasting experience. VINHA

Boutique Hotel The most current hotel in the north area geared to the premium category, with its unique site on the banks of the river Douro, opened to the public in July 2021. Vinha Boutique Hotel is wonderfully situated to become a close sanctuary for Porto and the Douro area, surrounded by gardens, lakes, and woods, with 3.5 hectares of grounds and 200 meters of riverfront. A destination where tourists and guests may enjoy great cuisine and wine experiences created by Chef Renato Cunha to respect and conserve native Portuguese produce, as well as wellness programs at the hotel’s Sisley Paris Spa and a range of outdoor activities. Vibrant and welcoming, Vinha Boutique Hotel is the most recent five-star hotel in the Porto and north region, located in Oliveira do Douro, Vila Nova de Gaia, Portugal and offers a distinct concept of stay based on the different interior styles of its 38 rooms, with hospitality products and amenities by the distinguished British brand, Jo Malone. Ralph Lauren, Hermès, Missoni, Etro and Christian Lacroix are some of the brands or “maisons” that drive the creative concept of 19 of the hotel’s rooms/suites. The remaining 19 rooms share a common decorative style, designated as Vinha Rooms. The hotel is a converted 16th century manor house, set in its own extensive natural surroundings on the left bank of the river Douro. Next to it, a new building has been added, designed in pure, simple lines suggestive of the elegant terraces of the slopes of the Douro vineyards. The hotel’s manor house also includes the Vinha Restaurant, the Reserva Bar and the Spa, the first of the French brand, Sisley Paris, in northern Portugal. There are also two floors with rooms for guests, the remaining rooms and suites being housed in the new building. The hotel’s gastronomic concept and in particular the Vinha Restaurant, built on the philosophy of authentic flavours that describe a narrative that originates from the river Douro and the terroir along its banks. Its elegant dining room features décor from the Moooi brand. In addition, the restaurant has a private room for fine dining in a more exclusive and intimate setting. There is also an outside terrace surrounded by lakes and gardens to stimulate the taste buds on days of warm weather, with the same style of service. The gastronomic universe of Vinha Boutique Hotel is vast and extends to the outdoors with experiences in the heart of nature, such as food cooked on a fire pit in traditional cast iron pots, or Vinha picnics to be enjoyed outdoors in the hotel grounds. The Reserva Bar offers a disruptive, innovative approach, where guests can enjoy an ambience full of character, modelled on the concept of the classical club, for private moments or for gatherings, but here transposed into a space that everyone can enjoy and with the River Douro as the backdrop. A place where the creative freedom leans

towards international gastronomy and where guests can enjoy an informal meal, try a classic or signature cocktail, choose from a careful selection of wines by the glass, among other proposals, such as teas, herbal teas, kombuchas, natural fruit juices, or consult a list of exclusive drinks. The Bar also has a terrace with a view of the river and manor house gardens. The hotel’s Sisley Paris Spa has an area of 500m2 dedicated to wellness, and is the only SPA of the French brand in northern Portugal. The hotel also has a shop in this space, where the products of the distinguished Parisian brand of luxury cosmetics are on sale to the public. The Spa facilities include an indoor swimming pool, a Vitality pool, 3 treatment rooms, a Vichy shower, sauna, Turkish bath, Hammam, ice fountain, sensation shower, areas for relaxation and also a fitness studio. The new hotel hopes to increase its offer of accommodation in the near future with the construction of ecological bungalows on the edge of the property’s woodlands, with views of the manor house gardens and river Douro. SIX SENSES

Located in Portugal’s beautiful UNESCO world heritage listed Douro Valley, the 20 acres (eight-hectare) estate of Six Senses Douro Valley is touched with the romance of 19th-century architecture wedded to contemporary interiors reflecting the inimitable Six Senses style. With the River Douro winding its lazy way through this oldest wine-producing region in the world. Golden by name – Douro – the sun-kissed valley is also golden by nature, with the River Douro flowing through amber-hued vine-filled terraces. The region, which comprises three world heritage sites, offers unforgettable experiences in this unique natural landscape. A generously proportioned Six Senses Spa presents a décor of ecologically friendly materials with the feeling of soft and trendy; a meeting between nature, Portuguese tradition, and the elements of water, stone, and wood. The spa offers Six Senses specialty treatments and multi-day programs plus a range of locally-inspired therapies, which also include some that are grape and fruit-based. There are 10 treatment rooms, a heated indoor pool with water jets, an outdoor pool and refreshment bar, plus a gym with the latest exercise equipment and professional guidance. Sustainability is top of the resort’s agenda, with numerous practices to minimize negative and embrace positive impacts. All embody the Six Senses environmental commitment. Locally sourced and environmentally sound products are favored, with suppliers encouraged to reduce packaging and deliver in bulk to reduce waste and greenhouse gas emissions. Six Senses Douro Valley addresses all the senses and incorporates all the elements in the arrival pavilion. The entry driveway winds down through working vineyards leading to a cypress flanked entry courtyard with a jaw-dropping view of the Douro River. Traditional small-scale cobblestones pave the yard and vines cascade down from the hill that rises above. Two massive wood and metal doors are set in a glass façade banded with a slatted metal stand wide open to welcome travelers to the resort entry. Transit on over a massive stone threshold to an entrance lobby where a gigantic table stands in front of a textured art wall bisected by a horizontal niche filled with flickering candles. A welcome glass of Port wine or herbal tea completes the arrival experience. A sweeping chandelier reminiscent of bundles of curling grape vines spatters light on the half-vaulted ceiling and a glass balcony cuts through the massive walls so guests can walk out with their welcome drink and enjoy the panoramic view. There is no paperwork, no computers, and friendly hosts whisk the luggage to each guest room using a tablet. This Portuguese oasis

THE NIKKEI NINE

Restaurant

A RESTAURANT WHERE FOOD AND DESIGN MAKE THE ULTIMATE EXPERIENCE The Nikkei Nine Restaurant is where Japanese and Peruvian cuisine meets creating a life-changing experience for the palate and the eyes. Located in Hamburg, one of the main cities in Germany, this incredible design restaurant by Fairmont Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten is famous for its food’s excellence, influenced by different cultures and continents’ gastronomies. The name NIKKEI represents the culinary direction of the restaurant, while the number nine is considered highly positive in the Japanese culture and was therefore added to the name. In Japan, nine hours is the length of a good night of sleep. Additionally, the number nine represents the highest level of economically achievable success and the ideal number of people at a table in restaurants. Coincidentally the street number 9 of the previous Doc Cheng’s serves as a connection between the innovative future and the traditional heritage of the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten at the Inner Alster Lake. This clear connection represents the thought of longevity and an exclusive restaurant concept. The restaurant found its name in the so-called Nikkei Cuisine that embraces Japanese cuisine with a Peruvian influence originated from the kitchens of Japanese immigrants in South America – predominantly in Peru and Brazil. Using surprising combinations and intense flavours, the Nikkei Cuisine presents s style that complements the Japanese fine sense of classically elegant dishes by adding cheerful, hearty Peruvian elements. Whether it is possible to find tartar from Wagyu steak from the southernmost tip of Japan, or pickled scallops, which are given a whole new taste thanks to Peruvian elements. Food is grilled over an open fire on the Japanese Robata grill in a walk-in show kitchen. To complete the gastronomic experience, the Nikkei Nine has a bar where it is possible to enjoy unusual, Japanese-Peruvian cocktail creations, exquisite champagne and sake. The gastronomic experience is just finely completed when combined with the luxury exotic decoration of the place. The new restaurant NIKKEI NINE is decorated entirely in shades of gold, cognac, amber and black. The interior concept of Nikkei Nine was created by General Manager Ingo C. Peters and his Executive Team. Boca do Lobo is one of the brands that makes part of the incredible interior of the restaurant, as one of the stars of the design is the Bohème Safe. HÔTEL PLAZA Paris ‘Once upon a time, the palace of future’ is the hotel’s tagline, and it underlines two crucial components. To begin, ‘Once upon a time’ remembers the beginning of the Hotel’s tale, focusing first and foremost on honoring its past and identifying where the Hotel’s core rests. The Haussmannian architecture, the front, the lobby, the wood paneling of Le Bar, La Galerie, the “haut de cuisine” restaurant, La Cour Jardin, and Le Relais Plaza are all included among Paris’ historic sites. Furthermore, the Hotel’s relationship with its guests contributes to the essence of the Hotel as well as its connection with its employees, some of whom have worked at the Hotel for over thirty years. The second part of the Hotel’s motto, ‘the palace of tomorrow’, looks to the future and considers how best to integrate the iconic palace into the modern world without betraying the heritage of the property. The challenge here was to subtly enhance the Hotel’s homely atmosphere for our current guests whilst considering a style that would appeal to the following generations. Internationally acclaimed interior designer Bruno Moinard has been chosen by the Hotel to design the lobby, La Galerie, La Cour Jardin, the Salon Organza and the new ballroom named the Salon Haute Couture. In order to create a spectacular yet discreet atmosphere, without changing the Hotel’s concept, Bruno Moinard has placed emphasis on a subtle silver color scheme complementing the existing features of the Hotel highlighted by light effects, be they natural or electric. “Today, luxury is found in detail, in the seam, the lining, in what remains unseen, in surprises. Not in extravagance or overtly opulent decor.” Bruno Moinard When entering the lobby, guests will be instantly immersed by Haute Couture. Floral displays add to the welcoming atmosphere and are changed every week. Bronze, marble, and brushed oak furnishings have been designed, along with wood paneling on the walls. The beautifully designed mosaic floor is adorned with a rug inspired by a crystalline motif, which echoes the large chandelier. Created in 1936, Le Relais Plaza is a chic brasserie that has become one of the capital’s go-to destinations over the years. Under the direction of Bruno Moinard, Le Relais Plaza’s refurbishment in 2014 predominantly consisted of redecorating a few elements of the restaurant. Particular attention was paid to detail, such as the lampshade crafted in folds of fibrous plaster, as well as the furnishings and the newly extended bar area. Following the arrival of Chef Jean Imbert in September 2021, as director of all kitchens, the Relais Plaza is for him the first project that he reveals at the Plaza Athénée.

The first six floors indulge in a classical Haussmanien universe with authentic furniture and high ceilings whereas the seventh – recently redesigned by the agency Moinard and Bétaille - and the eighth floor in Art Deco style pay tribute to geometrics. Fifty-two rooms offer a stunning view on the elegant avenue Montaigne. Since it was founded in 1946, Dior has maintained a strong relationship with the Hotel Plaza Athénée. Christian Dior was passionate about the Hotel which resulted in the opening of the Dior Spa in 2008. Exuding a modern and elegant atmosphere, Dior Spa is composed of six treatment rooms including one double and takes on Dior’s Haute Couture spirit on 30 avenue Montaigne to provide guests with high quality and bespoke service. “The ultimate luxury experience for pure beauty” is the philosophy of the Dior Spa which emphasizes the exclusive experience similar to that of Haute Couture. Inspired by Christian Dior, “the architect of design”, the Dior Spa treatments are created, structured, and redefined for each guest, step by step, for instant and long-lasting rejuvenating results, a fantastical and deluxe experience in which CovetED could not be indifferent to.

DELUXE HOTELS & RESTAURANTS

MEMMO

Príncipe Real Principe Real is without a doubt Lisbon’s most aristocratic and sophisticated neighborhood. It is in this district that the contrast between the historical side of the city, with its old structures and antiquities, and the modern Lisbon, teeming with modern stores and trendy restaurants, is most visible. The hotel integrates into the scene effortlessly, in perfect harmony with the past and present, towering tall in a fortunate location. The hotel is accessed via a short street and a little tunnel that leads to a secret tourist area with stunning views of the city. That square is connected to the suspended structure. This consistency is achieved by the limestone flooring that is present both outside and within the hotel. Limestone is a premium stone that has been utilized for centuries in the construction of historical structures, royal palaces, and prominent squares across the city of Lisbon. Inside the hotel, the entry is guarded by the royal prince D. Pedro V himself, who is shown in a large oil painting by the artist Barahona Possollo that contrasts with the hotel’s timeless and contemporary architectural design. Exclusive items developed by the architect coexist with other classic vintage furniture, which, along with magnificent and modern paintings by Miguel Branco and a particular piece by Iva Viana, contribute to the hotel’s special and unique interior design. Samuel Torres de Carvalho is a Portuguese architect born in Madrid. He made his studies in Madrid at the E.T.S. (Madrid’s architecture school) and currently teaches at the Escola Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Madrid. Several hotel projects both in Portugal and Spain. With memmo Hotels he was responsible for the project of memmo Baleeira Hotel (2007) and memmo Alfama Hotel (2013). The design and decoration of the hotel was developed by memmo Design Team coordinated by João Corrêa Nunes and Samuel Torres de Carvalho. With a total of 41rooms, this magnificent hotel has a complete and deluxe service, Café Principe Real is located in a central, stylish, and comfortable area of the hotel with a beautiful terrace overlooking the pool and the city. Throughout the day & night, it assumes different forms and services: breakfast in the morning exclusively for guests, light meals and snacks during the afternoon, restaurant for lunch and dinner with the special plus of signature cocktail bar in the evenings. A wonderful and luxurious experience that CovetED had the pleasure to discover. Furthermore, the Hotel’s relationship with its guests contributes to the essence of the Hotel as well as its connection with its employees, some of whom have worked at the Hotel for over thirty years. The second part of the Hotel’s motto, ‘the palace of tomorrow’, looks

to the future and considers how best to integrate the iconic palace into the modern world without betraying the heritage of the property. Not in extravagance or overtly opulent decor.” Bruno Moinard. When entering the lobby, guests will be instantly immersed by Haute Couture. Following the arrival of Chef Jean Imbert in September 2021, as director of all kitchens, the Relais Plaza is for him the first project that he reveals at the

The main lounge is entered from the cockpit through a sliding door that forms part of a large and fully retractable glazed surface, a now-famous feature of Pershing models that provides continuity between the exterior and interior areas, creating an extensive open space for guests to enjoy. The entire setting is flooded with natural light through extensive side windows and the large sunroof that can be opened above the starboard helm station, which has two separate pilot chairs upholstered in Potrona Frau “Interior in Motion” leather. The helm station shares the same family feeling as the other Generation X models, with a new yacht wheel made entirely of carbon fibre, featuring leather trim and an all-new design. On the port side, a C-shaped sofa completes the furnishings in the main lounge, positioned around an extending table for up to six guests. The possibility of raising and lowering the table transforms the dinette into an area for dining or coffee breaks. Opposite are the TV cabinet and storage compartments. Designed as an alternation of smooth and undulating surfaces, the materials used for the interiors of the new 6X are in perfect Pershing style, with extensive use of plain and lacquered wood for the furniture, parquet floors, and Mastrotto Group leathers, which are also used for the sofa cushions to create a play on contrasts between colors and materials. On the port side of the helm station, a central stairway provides access to the lower deck aided by a handrail with an original design that curves organically to create the parapet behind the sofa. The first Pershing 6X unit has a layout with three cabins - master, VIP forward and guest starboard - and three bathrooms with separate shower. The version for the American market has two cabins - master and VIP - with a living space replacing the guest cabin. On the left side of the hull is the galley, strategically positioned to benefit from various sources of natural light, including a ceiling window and a large porthole that can be opened. On the starboard side is the guest cabin, with a bathroom that also acts as a day toilet and can be entered from both inside the cabin and the lobby on the mezzanine. A few steps aft lead down to the owner’s area, a full-beam suite lit by natural light through a vertically oriented rectangular porthole offering a superlative panoramic view over the water’s surface. Positioned along the starboard hull side are the bathroom, split into three areas that extend across the entire width of the cabin, from which it is separated by two matt white sliding doors. In this setting too there is an unwavering focus on detail, like the spectacular bed head featuring an alternation between Zimmer + Rhode Tide wallpaper panels and sheet metal inserts. Mastrotto Group leather cushions round out this masterpiece of interior design, enhanced by horizontal LED light strips on the ceiling. The VIP cabin is located in the bow, with the bed skewed at 45° to the starboard side, a solution that significantly increases the available space, creating a cabin with similar dimensions to the master stateroom on boats of the same size. comfort for guests and be practical for the crew. Almost the entire swim platform can be lowered into the water, where it acts as an underwater surface to relax on and aid to leaving the water safely. Consistently with the excellent functionality and liveability that characterize the entire yacht, when the garage door is open and the swim platform lowered, launching and hauling up the Williams Turbojet 325 tender are quick and easy operations. For owners intent on having fun, an optional second water toy can be installed on the swim platform and two seabobs in the garage on either side of the tender. The cockpit offers an area for socializing, with a sofa in the aft section and a teak dining table seating eight featuring the Riva logo and a stainless steel base. On request, the entire area can be converted into a big sun pad with a mechanism that lowers the table so that it can be covered with cushions. The area is enhanced with solutions that increase the level of comfort, like the option of a drawer refrigerator under the sofa or a pouf with a low table. A bar corner configuration with stools is available on request. In this layout, the mahogany and polished stainless steel detailing and the Corian countertop are emblematic of Riva’s style. Completing the set-up are a fridge, an icemaker, and a sink so that the owner can enjoy a drink in an intimate romantic setting. The spacious sun deck is integrated into the yacht’s aerodynamic lines, offering somewhere to relax in total privacy, plus a helm station to pilot the yacht from a privileged vantage point. A big central sun pad covering about 4 square meters, with a forward-facing sofa at its edge, reigns elegantly over this area. The second centrally positioned helm station is forward and surrounded on both port and starboard sides by other sofas. Here too, various solutions have been introduced to increase comfort, including an optional drawer refrigerator under the sofa next to the helm station. The dominant wood in the main lounge for the standard version is sand-colored oak, juxtaposed in classic Riva style against mirror surfaces or light and dark lacquer, with polished stainless steel detailing. On request, the owner can opt for rosewood as the featured wood, enhanced by color contrasts and fine finishes and details. The lounge is a large and inviting open space. Past the glass entry door, the living area on the starboard side is furnished with a sofa, an armchair and a pouf designed by Gentili&Mosconi, and a leathertopped coffee table. The Mariaflora cushions are a pleasing detail and enhance the seating by making it even more comfortable. The lower deck is characterized by the refined pairing of sand-colored oak and pale or dark lacquer interspersed with bold black leather detailing, including the possibility of opting for rosewood as an alternative featuring wood. In the standard layout, the yacht’s lower deck welcomes guests into a small lounge furnished with a large, light-colored, L-shaped sofa by Gentili&Mosconi and, on request, a pouf with a low table. Opposite the lounge, on the starboard side, is a galley separated by a door and fully appointed with appliances, a worktop, a hob, and a sink arranged along the hull side and in the aft area. The layout has three cabins for six guests, all with en-suite bathrooms, but the owner can also request a fourth cabin, configured as always to ensure optimum comfort and liveability. The master stateroom dominates the midship section of the yacht. Here the stand-out features for their refinement and minimalist design are the bed with leather headboard and sides, and the ergonomic and functional furnishings. The en-suite bathroom is behind a smoked glass mirror door. In the master stateroom, like the other cabins, the decor reprises not only the wood on the main deck but also the chiaroscuro contrasts and the precious materials.

FASHION ICONS WHAT IS FASHION ANYWAY? HOW MANY SYNONYMS CAN YOU FIND FOR IT? VOGUE, TREND, CRAZE, RAGE, MANIA, MODE, FAD, FANCY, STYLE… IT IS A WAY OF DOING SOMETHING, RIGHT? FASHION, AT ITS CRUDEST MEANING, USUALLY REFERS SPECIFICALLY TO THE VARIOUS STYLES AND DRESS CODES ADOPTED IN EACH SOCIETY AT A GIVEN HISTORICAL TIME. SOUNDS BORING, RIGHT? STILL, EVERYONE IS APPRAISED BY IT: HOW WE LOOK, WHICH COLOURS WE CHOSE, THE MATERIALS AND EVEN OUR BODIES AND SILHOUETTE. PANICKING ALREADY? PLEASE DON’T. ANYWAY, WHAT IS ART WITHOUT A BIT OF HARSHNESS AND A TOUCH OF DRAMA?

followed numerous looks that revisited the icons of the house in an excellent balance between inspiration and present time. There were tails in pastel shades, a variety of necklaces and many wallets in the classic matelassé effect that has been in fashion since 1955, back when the famous 2.55 wallet was created. At the Valentino house show the front row was transformed into a kind of café, with chairs and tables for guests, and the catwalk continued out into the street, making the road the stage for the show and the real cafés the audience, where guests of the brand were as well. To Pierpaolo Piccioli was very important that Valentino Garavani embarked on the youth fever of the 1960s and bringing about a change. He thinks that this is his way of doing the same thing now: keeping the codes and values of couture and talking about beauty, which is about humanity and a shared wardrobe. Incredible view, don’t you agree? The show opened with a Valentino look from the 1968 white collection and then it was pure Piccioli magic, in a collection with men’s and women’s looks, painted in all colours. Chloé set up her show by the Seine on the Quai de la Tournelle, with guests facing the åthe brand and to this great fashion stage the reflection on environmental and social responsibility. One example is the launch of Chloé Craft, a selection of handmade pieces. The collection highlights pieces made with artisanal techniques, trench coats and a focus on linen instead of cotton. Saint Laurent once again set a date at the foot of the Eiffel Tower with the iconic monument as a backdrop. Anthony Vaccarello’s collection was first and foremost a tribute to Paloma Picasso, once the founder’s muse and style icon. The proposals showed inspiration in menswear and 1980s looks, with special emphasis on collared fabrics, jumpsuits, and broad shoulders. The Balmain house’s fashion show was a tribute to its own creative director, Olivier Rousteing, who celebrates FASHION

surprise hire, a decade later his place on the fashion stage is more than assured, as is his signature style. Proof of all this was the show divided into two parts. First the prêt-à-porter spring/summer 2022 collection, with female and male proposals, a dominance of black and white in different textures and a selection of final looks that was a personal reflection, since the clothes seemed to wrap the models in strips of fabric and this was Rousteing’s way of bringing to the catwalk a personal experience he recently lived, an accident during confinement that caused him burns and respective recovery in hospital. Then the room, filled with thousands of fans of the brand and the designer, plunged into darkness, and woke up to the sound of Beyoncé’s voice in a recording where the artist speaks to Olivier Rousteing and recounts the first time they met and the partnership for the shows at the Coachella festival in 2018. And because one diva was too little for such a celebration, the runway lights up again and a second show begins in capsule collection style, which is like a tour through the Balmain archives of the last decade, painted in neutral tones and presented by star models from different eras. By Rousteing returned to the catwalk Naomi Campbell, Natalia Vodianova, Natash Poly, Lara Stone, Carla Bruni and Milla Jovovich among other names. As has been usual for Demna Gvasalia, the creative director of Balenciaga presenting us with a surprise effect. He put together the elements of a runway show, shuffled and delivered an original presentation. Guests gathered at the Théâtre du Châtelet to watch on a giant screen the new collection being paraded on a red carpet, with the models wearing the skin of celebrities. At the end of the show, the models joined the audience and took their seats in the room to watch the biggest surprise of this presentation: a partnership between the Simpsons and Balenciaga. In a video of only 10 minutes, Gvasalia and his team travel to Springfield and back to Paris with the cast of the animated series to star in a parade of the designer’s most popular looks. Dolce & Gabbana showed up with an exquisite collection. They wanted to make something different but at the same time with a 2000’s mood. The reason for this is as we are finally facing the end of this pandemic, there is an urge to enjoy life, to dress pieces that gives us light and makes us feel good. It is easy to see the contrast between then and now: the use of logo underwear, the beaded sheer shirt combos, the pelmet mini, and the exposed lingerie are great examples of it. But most important, we could note an evolution in mentality regarding the means of production used. Upcycling is now a reality and a wonderful example of how brands are sensitive to this whole issue of climate change, thus using new strategies. Another great evolution is that D&G are now aware that when it comes to body shapes, the fashion industry didn’t evolve that much. Still, they have their eyes on the new generation and they are thinking about having a collection for sizes and shapes. Sexy is sexy, no matter what. Revolutionary, right?
