EN 1149-5 / Electrostatic clothing properties. The Standard EN-1149-5 specifies a set of requirements and test methods to measure protection against static electricity or change decay. Electrostatic resistance is required when the worker is exposed to environments where a spark could cause explosions or ignite fires. Garments according to this Standard do not offer protection from mains voltages.
IEC 61482 / Electric Arc. This Standard specifies test and classification for materials and clothing to be worn when at risk of exposure to an electrical arc. An arc flash occurs when there is a short circuit through the air across conductors. Such a flash will result in numerous hazards.
