Hotel Liberty Offenburg

Built from 1840 onwards and subsequently a place of bondage, where people who thought freely were imprisoned for that very reason. The first prisoners in this former correctional facility in Offenburg were the visionaries and masterminds of freedom and democracy in Germany, the Baden revolutionaries.

Lovingly, carefully and with respect for the history of this old house, a lot of time and thought was put into how to go about redesigning it and putting it to new use. Plans and sketches were drawn up, discarded and started all over again - until exactly the right formula was found. With enthusiasm for detail, new life was breathed into the massive walls and the old and the new combined in a wonderful way. From now on, this colossal building with its massive windows and doors will always be open to guests.
