11WAVWRX (wave works) is an audiovisual project by Jaeson Pitt. The project is part of his electronic music alias, WorldS. as an endeavor of his art and design studio/label, WorldSpectacular.
Collaged works on paper and audio recordings comprise an aural and visual language based on abstraction, or depiction, of the artist’s interpretations of energy > frequencies > vibrations > sound > music.
This project attempts to capture the magnitudinous depths of linear waveforms as a vibe-in two dimensions. Using traditional art and design elements (line, shape, form, space, texture, value, color); Pitt’s compositions depict waves, or energies of emotion, thought, and lived experiences in time - as moving or static objects that are ominipresent and constantly transmuting in flux within our environements.
The following is an archive of the cassette tapes recorded and packaged to be exhibited along with the visual art side to the project. The goal is to have a physical document of the sound art and musical journey that work in tandem alongside one another.
The WAVWRX series is an ongoing body of work that began with 100 collages on paper and a few cassettes worth of sound. However, it is slowly becoming a larger, metaphorical ocean of themed output and exploration.
Resultingly, these cassette tapes continue to grow in number as do the contemporary art pieces.
There are currently 28 completed cassette packages, 41 individual cassettes, equating approximately 33 -37.5 hours of audio recordings. About 1-3 folders of music are also awaiting transfer to tape.
There are currently 600 artworks on paper to coincide with the audio, to be exhibited together as one artistic statement.
The artist hopes that these collaged recordings and visual art will be a metaphor for the massive oceans and seas. Representative of the currents, tides, and the amount of its elemental presence. The waves change in temperature, course, and are always varied to each living thing it interacts with. This causing a uniquely different experience to everyone and everything.
The WAVWRX tapes and fine artworks’ ideal exhibit space is one in which the viewers and listeners can immerse themselves in a sensory experience that brings them into a creative world where they feel like they are apart of a larger entity. The exhibition asks us to look at our existence with wonder, imagination, and a sense of oneness.
Pitt envisions the exhibit taking place in a space where sound systems and cassette players allow participants to listen and view an array of visual and audio frequency ranges as a group and individually.
