n fechas recientes se han hecho presentes huracanes, inundaciones y terremotos que han afectado a extensas comunidades en nuestra Región Interamericana. Tras su paso han dejado destrucción, dolor y tristeza. Mucha gente vio cómo su hogar era destruido por la acción de la naturaleza, sin poder hacer algo para evitarlo. Muchos más han resultado lastimados y en algunos casos muertos.

Ante este difícil panorama los Scouts se han hecho presentes. Como en otras tantas ocasiones en las que la sociedad ha necesitado de apoyo, los Scouts nuevamente dijeron “Siempre listos”. Ya fuera atendiendo la emergencia inmediata, ayudando a remover los escombros para rescatar a alguien debajo de ellos, ya fuera organizando la ayuda que la población aportaba, ya fuera distribuyendo alimento y vestido a aquellos que lo perdieron todo, ya fuera llevando alegría a través del juego a niños que, sin opción alguna, estaban viviendo en un refugio. El Movimiento Scout una vez más dijo “sí”, miles de Scouts con su pañoleta al cuello se hicieron presentes para brindarse completamente sin esperar nada en recompensa. Una vez más los Scouts han demostrado que como parte de su sociedad, son sensibles a lo que a ella le pasa. Han dejado sentir que el Construir un Mundo Mejor es una tarea que se logra a través de la acción directa.

Hoy estas líneas son para reconocer su labor y para agradecer su entrega. Estas líneas son para hacerles sentir el orgullo que sentimos todos aquellos que somos testigos de sus acciones por los demás.

R
ecently, hurricanes, floods and earthquakes have occurred and have affected large communities in our Interamerican Region. After their passage they have left destruction, pain and sadness. Many people saw how their homes were destroyed by the action of nature, without being able to do something or avoid it. Many more have been injured and in some cases dead. Through these difficult scenarios the Scouts have been present. As it has been done in many past occasions when society has neededed support, the Scouts again said “Be prepared”. Either by attending to the immediate emergency, helping to remove the debris to rescue someone under them, organizing the help that the population brought, or distributing food and clothing to those who lost everything, or just by bringing joy by play with children who, without any option, were living in a shelter. The Scout Movement once again said “yes”, thousands of Scouts with their scarf around their necks made themselves present to give themselves completely without expecting anything in return. Once again the Scouts have shown that as part of their society, they are sensitive to what is happening to them. They have let us feel that Creating a Better World is a task that is achieved through direct action. Today these lines are to recognize his work and to their compromise. These lines are to make them feel the pride we feel all those who are witnesses of their actions to others. Surely there will come more difficult moments that require our action, lets be prepared to face them, to support those who need it the most. Be prepared to serve!

¿CÓMO CONSTRUIR UN MUNDO MEJOR? HOW TO CREATE A BETTER WORLD?
• La vida te presentará la oportunidad de trabajar con muchos individuos, mide a las personas por el tamaño de sus sentimientos, de su esfuerzo, de sus conocimientos y buena voluntad y no por dogmas sociales o culturales predefinidos. Evita hacer comentarios desinformados o con dobles intenciones. • Sé líder, una persona puede cambiar el mundo con el simple hecho de dar esperanza a quienes le rodean, no te rindas, aunque parezca que remas contra corriente, una sola persona bien motivada, puede hacer una gran diferencia positiva para el mundo. Si quieres mejorar las cosas, no permanezcas pasivo, involúcrate en la resolución de los problemas a tu alrededor, pon especial énfasis en los pequeños detalles, sé paciente, escucha a los demás, trabaja la tolerancia, conviértete en esperanza para tu comunidad, sé incluyente, apóyate con tus compañeros, respeta a tus semejantes.

omo todos sabemos “construir un mundo mejor” es el slogan de nuestro movimiento a nivel mundial, pero ¿Te has puesto a pensar de que manera hacerlo?, a continuación, te presento algunas ideas: • Las pequeñas tareas son muy importantes, realízalas con orgullo porque haciendo las pequeñas cosas bien, podrás hacer las grandes tareas mejor. • Si esperas cambiar el mundo, deberás aprender a sobrellevar las distintas situaciones que te presente la vida, las positivas con la alegría del trabajo bien realizado y las negativas con la madurez de reconocer los errores y canalizar el sufrimiento para aprender.

s we all know “creating a better world” is the slogan of Scouting worldwide, but have you ever think how to achieve it ?, here are some ideas: • Small tasks are very important, doing them with pride because by doing the small things well, you can do the big tasks better. • If you expect to change the world, you must learn to cope with the different life situations. The positive ones with the joy of the work well done and the negative ones with the maturity, recognizing the mistakes and channeling the suffering into learn. • Life will present to you the opportunity to work with many individuals, measure people by the size of their feelings, their effort, their knowledge
Ya te has dado cuenta que la vida no es justa y que fallarás muchas veces, pero aun así arriésgate, si es necesario detente a reflexionar, pero continua, por ningún motivo te dejes vencer. Haciendo esto las generaciones que vienen vivirán en un mundo mucho mejor que el que encontramos. Ánimo, el camino es largo, pero te será difícil o fácil dependiendo de la actitud que tomes al enfrentarlo. Lucha contra ti mismo para reinventarte y romper tu comodidad y finalmente disfruta de la belleza inesperada en cada situación que te toque vivir.

Avoid making uninformed or double-intention comments. • Being a leader, one person can change the world by giving hope to those around him or her, do not give up, even if it seems that you are going against the flow. A single person well motivated, can make a big positive difference for the world. If you want to improve things, do not remain passive, engage in solving problems around you. Pay special emphasis on small details, be patient, listen to others, develop tolerance, become hope for your community, be inclusive , lean on your companions, respect your equals. You have already realized that life is not fair and that you will fail many times, but even so take the risk, if you need it stop thinking, but continue, for no reason you let yourself to overcome. By doing this, the coming generations live in a much better world than the one we found. Courage, the road is long, but it will be difficult or easy depending on the attitude you take while facing it. Fight yourself to reinvent and break your comfort, and finally enjoy the unexpected beauty in every situation that touches you life.

ILT 2017
L
a Quinta versión del ILT (Interamerican Leadership Training) será organizada por la Asociación de Scouts del Ecuador en Quito, este próximo diciembre. ILT es un curso intensivo de capacitación experiencial de una semana que ha demostrado ser un programa muy exitoso para la Región Interamericana (IAR). ILT proporciona a jóvenes adultos las habilidades de comunicación, gestión de proyectos, resolución de conflictos, trabajo en equipo, junto con exponerlos a varios otros conceptos de liderazgo. Muchos de los participantes del ILT han comenzado a liderar varios proyectos de mensajeros de paz (MoP) y han asumido varias posiciones de liderazgo dentro de sus Organizaciones Nacionales Scouts (OSN), la Región Interamericana y dentro de la Organización Mundial del Movimiento Scout (OMMS).
T
he fifth installment of the Interamerican Leadership Training (ILT) will be hosted by the Ecuadorian Scout Association in Quito, Ecuador, this coming December. ILT is an intensive week-long experiential training course that has proven to be a very successful training program for the Interamerican Region (IAR). ILT trains young adult Scout leaders in the skills of communication, project management, conflict resolution, team building, along with exposing them to several other leadership concepts. Many past ILT participants have gone on to lead several noteworthy Messengers of Peace (MoP) projects and have assumed various leadership positions within their National Scouting Organizations (NSOs), the Interamerican Region, and within the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM). ILT has gained a lot of interest around the Scouting world and this year Scouts from other Regions within WOSM are planning to attend ILT including young adult Scout leaders from the African and Asia-Pacific Regions. Since inception in 2013, ILT has directly trained approximately 245 young adult Scout leaders, ages 18 to 26, within the IAR. Indirectly, ILT has trained over 1,000 young Scout leaders across the Interamerican Region (IAR) as those who have attended ILT have then taken their newly learned skills and developed their own training courses within their NSOs, thus reaching a broader audience of potential Scouting leaders.
ILT ha ganado mucho interés en todo el mundo y este año los Scouts de otras Regiones dentro de la OMMS asistirán al ILT, incluyendo a líderes jóvenes adultos scouts de las regiones de África y Asia-Pacífico. Desde su creación en 2013, ILT ha capacitado directamente a más de 245 jóvenes líderes Scouts, de 18 a 26 años, dentro del la Región Interamericana. Aunque la duración del ILT es de una semana, en ella se enseñan varias habilidades de liderazgo y trabajo en equipo, la experiencia puede explicarse mejor mediante la siguiente cita de uno de los participantes:

Proof that if we come together as one global community, the only race we would have is to the finish line, love would be our religion, hate won’t be in our

S
ummit Bechtel fue una experiencia genial para los Scouts Guatemaltecos. Nos proporcionaron regaderas, sanitarios, piletas para lavar ropa, el kit completo de cocina, carpas, catres, y mesas con toldos para los tiempos de comida. Una de las experiencias que nos sorprendió mucho fue que nos abastecieron de alimentos por medio de solicitudes a través de una APP. Los conciertos de bienvenida y despedida, fueron espectaculares ya que no importó la nacionalidad, sino el deseo de compartir como hermanos Scouts a través de la energía. Además tuvimos una fiesta Latina con cena incluída en donde nos sentimos como en casa. Nuestros chicos aprovecharon para realizar actividades de agua, ciclismo, canopy, escalada, tiro con arco, pusieron especial énfasis en concreter las actividades en donde pudiesen obtener una insignia a cambio. Otra de las actividades que más difrutamos fue el servicio realizado en la Universidad. En uno de los estacionamientos nos dieron una plática de cómo los perros a cargo de seguridad y policías están entrenados, en especial para detector droga en cualquier lugar. Nuestra experiencia fue inolvidable, estaremos esperando el 2019 tendremos Jamboree Mundial en el mismo lugar.
S
ummit Bechtel was a great experience for the Guatemalan Scouts. We were provided with showers, toilets, sinks for washing clothes, the complete kitchen kit, tents, cots, and tables with awnings for meal times. One of the experiences that surprised us a lot was that they supplied us with food through an APP. The Welcome and Farewell concerts were spectacular, as it did not matter the nationality, but the desire to share as Scout brothers and sisters through energy. We also had a Latin party with dinner included, where we felt at home. Our youth participated in water activities, cycling, canopy, climbing and archery. They participated specially on the activities where they could get a badge in return. Another of the activities that we enjoyed the most was the service performed at the University. In one of the parking lots they gave us a talk about how the dogs and security police are trained to detect drug anywhere. Our experience was unforgettable, we will be waiting for 2019 to return to the same place during the World Jamboree.

UN VIAJE EXTRAORDINARIO AN EXTRAORDINARY JOURNEY

n 1503 some printed latin letters appear in Paris. They claimed to be a summary translated from a letter written in Italian by “Americus Vespuccius” related the trip made by Vespucio in 1501; The work is based on the authentic letters of Americo, written in 1501 and 1502, which bears the name of MUNDUS NOVUS. Seven years ago under the initiative of our Regional Director, Raúl Sánchez Vaca, together we began this adventure in a journey that took us sailing, like Americo, month by month throug of the articles of MUNDUS NOVUS, which gradually became Nº 35 space of communication for the Region; 34 National Scout Organizations, managed to take a look at the world of how much they do. Through this digital space, whose definition translate to: “NEW WORLD”, and is able to reach all, not only our Scout World.
