Call for the international volunteers 2017 will mark the 20th anniversary of the founding the Association of Scouts of Azerbaijan as an independent National Scout Organization as well as for establishment of the Eurasia Scout Region. The opportunity to combine these celebrations with hosting two World Events will be great milestone in the history of our organisation and a clear signal to the Scout world that a young NSO is capable of hosting important World Scout Events. In addition to the Host and Organizing committee members, professional staff and contractors, we are expecting around 300 volunteers in our team. In order to strengthen our capacities and following the Scout tradition, we are inviting international volunteers – experienced Scouts from different Scout regions – to provide their valuable input to the success of the events. The 41st World Scout Conference’ and 13th World Scout Youth Forum’ Host Committee has opened recruitment for a team of international volunteers to support the events. We are looking for volunteers for the three main events to be held in the following dates: 13th World Scout Youth Forum, Gabala, Azerbaijan: August 7 – 10, 2017 Interevent program, Sheki & Baku, Azerbaijan: August 11 – 13, 2017 41st World Scout Conference, Baku, Azerbaijan: August 13 - 18, 2017
Why you may be interested to apply as a volunteer? This is a valuable opportunity to gain knowledge and new skills in the area of organising world Scout events, attending at the same time side events, sharing your own unique experience and understanding the impact of Scouting on children, youth, their families and the international community. You will have chance to learn in the atmosphere of multicultural education, gain knowledge about Scouting worldwide, enhance your language skills, take part in the teambuilding activities. Azerbaijani Scouts will help you to explore our rich history and the amazing culture of the ancient Absheron peninsula, guide you through best landmarks and sights and provide an opportunity to taste delicious national cuisine. The volunteers department will interview all applicants. Successful applicants wille be invited to support the Host Committee for the 13th WSYF & 41st WSC. 20 International volunteers will receive a GRANT from the Host Committee, covering air tickets cost, accommodation and per diem for meals during the agreed dates. All accepted volunteers will be provided with a t-shirt and will receive meals/snacks/soft drinks while volunteering at the event itself. You will also receive a certificate of recognition for your resume.

What is expected of you as a WSC/WSYF volunteer? Volunteers will receive training in advance, and are requested to commit to relevant shifts during the events. Volunteers may be asked to assist with the following areas: Arrivals/Departures information desk (assisting at the airport) Hotel informational desk (support participants in the hotels) Transport assistance (support participants on the way to the hotels and back) Registration desk (assisting with conference attendee registrations/program questions in the venue ) Forum/Conference venue support (assisting during the program event itself) Language Assistance (assisting with sharing of information/answering questions in non-English delegate languages at different locations) IT & Communications support (professional support to the participants during the events) Other required areas
What we are expecting from you as a WSC/WSYF volunteer?
Age: 18+ (born before 07 August 1999) Language capacities: English is necessary, Azerbaijani, French, Spanish, Arabic and Russian is an asset. Scout experience Experience in international and world events (Scout and non-Scout)

The form for renting extra exhibition space with amenities as described above is available here. Please complete the form and email it to the Venue Department: venue@wsc2017.az as soon as possible. We will contact you to clarify details upon receiving your request. Also if you need to book an office for meetings or other kinds of work during the Conference at the main venue, please send us a request with details to the same e-mail address at the HC Venue Department.
Please, kindly note that the area of additional space is strongly limited due to capacities of the venue. There is no deadline for extra exhibition space ordering but the distribution of extra space for exhibitions will be based on the principle of “first come – first served”. We will update you about availability of the exhibition places through our News page of the website.

Interevent program Dates: 11 – 13 August 2017 Place: Sheki and Baku (Absheron peninsula) Interevent will be organised for the participants of the 13th World Scout Youth Forum, who are going to attend the 41st World Scout Conference. Interevent will consist of a visit to the ancient city of Sheki where participants will be able to feel the authentic culture and try the local handicrafts. They will also play City Games with the local Scout Group. They will also visit the Absheron peninsula on the shore of the Caspian Sea where participants will be able to relax on the sand beach, attend different activities and stay the night in a tent (which will be provided).
Sheki Sheki is 85 km away from Gabala (venue of 13th WSYF) Participants will : Stay in the medieval hotel of XVII century Visit the church of I-III century Learn how to cook a local sweet Visit the silk factory Walk around the old city.
Baku (Absheron peninsula) On 12th August 2017, participants of the Intervent program will depart from Sheki to Baku (Absheron Peninsula). The participants will stay in the tents on the shore of the Caspian Sea. The participants will spend day relaxing on the sand beach. The next day the participants will depart to join the Conference.

Post-conference tours 3 Days Tour Duration: 3 days / 2 nights Itinerary: Baku-Shamakhy-Lahij-Sheki-Ganja-Baku
Day 1. Baku-Lahij-Gabala Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Departure from Baku to Gabala via Shamakhy and Lahij (200 km). On the way visiting ”Yeddi Gumbez” (Seven Domes) mausoleum complex (XVIII-XIX c.). Photo stops on in the most picturesque places in the mountains. Arrival at Lahij mountain settlement of national handicraft. Lunch in local restaurant. Panoramic tour to “Lahij” Historical-Ethnographic reserve /IV-XIXc./: architectural monuments, handicrafts and manufacture of carpets, workshops and benches of handicraftsmen: braziers, smiths, chasers, metal engravers, ancient mosques, baths, and also original architecture of streets and apartment houses of the ancient mountain settlement. Continuation of the trip from Lahij to Gabala. Arrival to Gabala city and accommodation at the hotel.
Day 2. Gabala-Sheki Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Continuation of the trip to Sheki (140 km) via Gabala Nij settlement (Medieval Christian temple of Caucausian Albania-Chotari church after reconstruction VII-XIV c.c.) - Oguz - Sheki (about 170 km.) Arrival in Sheki. Accommodation at the hotel. Free time. Lunch in national restaurant. Sightseeing program in Sheki.
Day 3. Sheki-Baku Breakfast at the hotel. Check-out from the hotel. Moving from Sheki to Baku. Arrival to Baku, accommodation at the hotel. Free time. Farewell dinner in the restaurant with Azerbaijan traditional cuisine and show program. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 1. Baku -Shamakhy Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Sightseeing in the “Old City” - medieval part of Baku: “Shirvanshahs’ Palace” (XV c. under UNESCO protection), ancient quarter mosques (Mohammad's mosque - XI c.), bath, fragments of residential buildings, “Market Square”, “Bukhara” caravanserai (XVI c.), “Multani” caravanserai (XIV c.), “Gyz Galasi” (Maiden Tower) (entrance).

Visiting of Azerbaijan State Carpet and Applied Arts museum named after Latif Kerimov (entrance). Lunch in local restaurant. Sightseeing tour “Land of fires”: “Ateshgah” Fire-Worshippers' Temple in Surakhany settlement (XVII c.) entrance), medieval castle in Ramana settlement (XIV c.), survey of the oldest oil fields in Balakhani settlement (XIX-XX c.), visiting “Yanardag” natural reserve (natural gas exit), acquaintance with dietary salt extraction on “Masazir”lake. Departure from Masazir settlement to Shamakhy (110 km). On the way visiting “Diri Baba” mausoleum in Maraza village. Arriving in Shamakhy. Short survey of historical monuments. Accommodation at the hotel and, dinner in hotel restaurant. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 2. Shamakhy-Lahij-Gabala Breakfast at the hotel and check out. Continuation of the trip to Lahij (70 km) via Muganly pass. Photo stops on in the most picturesque places in the mountains. Excursion program on Ganja city. Travel to Goy-gol city (vicinities of Ganja, 12 km. far from Ganja city). Excursion program in the former German colony of Helenendorf. Returning to Ganja city. Visiting «Imam-Zada» Muslim memorial-cult complex / XVI-XVIII c.c. and “Central City Market” (East Bazaar). Dinner in the local restaurant. Return to the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5. Ganja-Gobustan-Baku Breakfast at the hotel. Continuation of excursion program in Ganja city. Travel from Ganja to Baku (350km). On the way to Baku lunch in local restaurant. Visit to Gobustan National Historical - Artist Preserve (65 km. away from Baku). Acquaintance with archaeological exposition of the museum, lifestyle of ancient people of “Stone Age” epoch (XVIII-VIII mln.B.C). Survey of Gobustan petroglyphs. Arrival to Baku, accommodation at the hotel. Free time. Farewell dinner in the restaurant with Azerbaijan traditional cuisine and show program. Overnight at the hotel or Transfer to the airport.
