MANATEE RIVER

Happy New Year everyone. We decided to enter the New Year by trying out a restaurant that we’ve been wanting to try out but havent had the time. We all decided to go to Whiskey Joe’s for lunch on New Year’s Eve. It’s a national chain restaurant that recently opened a branch in the Manatee area. It’s located on the river where you could also dock your boat and just enjoy the view with some food drinks and company.

Whiskey Joe’s is definitely a restaurant to try out especially if you enjoy the outdoor bar scene. It’s family friendly and has a good selection of food and drinks. One of the more famous drinks that they offer is the Whiskey Joe’s Red beer. It has a robust zesty taste to it without weighing you down like normal store bought beer. The dining room is divided into three sections, indoor, outdoor deck and outdoor sand section which is straight on the river. The indoor section is pretty small with a few tables and wide windows on one side facing the deck. The outdoor deck seating is shaded in and is elevated from the sand area to minimize the sand entering the indoor dining area. The outdoor sand section is where all the fun is, it has some umbrella seating, tiki seating, a bonfire gathering, a small tiki bar, and live music starting at 8:30pm. The waitresses wore feathery New Year’s Eve hats to ring in the new year and the festivities. The tone of the restaurant is very laid back, relaxed and family friendly.

It’s family friendly and has a good selection of food and drinks.

Whiskey Joe’s has much to offer than just its bar and restaurant outlook. They also offer some retail items at the entrance of the door, some beach shirts, sweaters, margarita cups, beer mugs, shots, fruit drink cups, New Years Eve hats and accessories such as necklace beads, and eye masks. All in all, it definitely is a place to visit whether your a townie like me or a tourist wanting a memorable great evening with some souvenirs for you and for the ones back home. GHADA SCOTTO
