World Vision will provide pre-trip briefing, information packs, and organise all in-country travel. The trip costs outlined in this brochure are not inclusive of airfares. You will be required to arrange your own airfare and visa. Trip costs include accommodation, most meals, transportation & activities. By joining, you’ll commit to raising funds for the projects you visit on the trip. This gives you the opportunity to support the people and communities you visit overseas. This is a unique opportunity for you to explore World Vision’s work, stay in a rural setting and meet inspiring Cambodian youth who are transforming their communities. Immerse yourself in the friendly Khmer culture and explore many beautiful sights along the way!
TRIP OVERVIEW Day 1-3: Phnom Penh. Get to know the group including Cambodian youth leaders. Learn about Cambodia’s tragic past. Explore Phnom Penh including markets, river cruise and key sights. Visit other NGO’s working with youth. Day 4-6: Phnom Penh. Meet inspiring Cambodian youth transforming their communities. Spend mornings teaching English at a small primary school located on an old rubbish dump. Spend time learning about issues such as fair trade, advocacy and health from communities that partner with World Vision. Undertake a community project in partnership with members of the local Youth Club. Day 7-9: Travel to Battambang. Visit Cambodia’s rural heartland. Enjoy a day to relax. Ride the famous bamboo train, visit a youth circus, have dinner at local NGO restaurants training youth. Spend a day cycling through the rural countryside exploring the Cambodian way of life. Day 10-12: Rural Community Life. Visit a rural community partnering with World Vision and undertake a youth selected community project with Youth club members. Visit the local high school and join in activities. Discover how World Vision is working to support this community’s vision for change. Travel to Siem Reap. Day 13-15: Siem Reap. Enjoy a day cycling around the ancient, world heritage listed Angkor Wat Temples. Visit local artisans producing Cambodian crafts. Explore this amazing regional city’s many attractions. Debrief and capture reflections and key learnings before returning home to Australia.

Be awed by the natural beauty of Uganda... say hello to the hippos as you cruise down the Nile, try to pat a giraffe on the dawn safari and hang out with the chimps as you trek through the jungle. More importantly, meet the people who call this beautiful country ‘home’, and enjoy meaningful interactions with community members that World Vision is empowering to transform their lives.
TRIP OVERVIEW Days 1- 3: Kampala. Arrive and get to know the group. Explore the bustling city of Kampala. Experience life in an urban slum where World Vision is building partnerships. Day 4 - 5: Nkozi. Travel south west to Nkozi. Participate in a workshop facilitated by inspiring community members who advocate for change in their community. Meet courageous HIV/AIDS mothers and their babies at the Health Clinic Mama Club. Stand on the Ugandan equator line. Meet inspiring members from the Child Protection Committee. Travel to the centre of Uganda. Day 6-7: Nakasongola. Visit a health centre and then spend the rest of the day at a Primary School. Play sport, plant trees and teach the children about Australia. Travel to Boomu Womens Cooperation where you will stay in traditional African Bandas. Observe basket weaving and cooking demonstrations. Day 8-10: Murchisons Falls National Park. Take time out to breathe and reflect, whilst enjoying the beauty of the Murchisons Falls National Park. Go on a Chimp Trek Forest Walk. Cruise down the Nile River spotting hippos and crocodiles. Witness an African sunrise whilst out on a safari looking for giraffes, elephants and lions. Travel North West to Offaka. Day 11-13: Offaka. Spend the next two days immersing yourself in the rural community of Offaka. Get to know the people and staff of World Vision Uganda whilst visiting farms, youth advocacy groups, a local market, medical clinics and primary schools. After a full two days we drive back to Kampala in time for our final dinner together. Day 14: Travel Home. The trip may be over, but the memories will last a lifetime! Against the backdrop of the spectacular Himalayas, learn firsthand about World Vision’s work in Nepali communities. Spend time trekking as you experience the day to day life of Nepali people and enjoy a weekend adventure in the national park on the lookout for tigers and elephants in the wild!
TRIP OVERVIEW Day 1: Kathmandu. Arrive and get to know the group. Explore the popular Thamel district, with a chance to shop for supplies before heading into rural Nepal. Day 2-5: Western Hills. Take a short flight to Western Nepal. Enjoy interactions with the World Vision staff that make community transformation possible. Teach a lesson at a high school and conduct photo advocacy training with young people. Trek to a local health centre to learn about issues in healthcare. Visit a women’s group who are tackling issues such as gambling and drinking in their community. Day 6-7: Western Flats. See firsthand a new project World Vision has begun in the Terrai (flat lands). Understand the challenges they face through interacting with the ex-bonded labourers and visiting a school where the community has to self-fund teachers. Interact with members of a local youth club and be inspired by their actions for change. Day 8-9: Bardia National Park. Take time out to breathe and reflect, whilst enjoying the beauty of the Bardia National Park. Ride elephants through the jungle. Enjoy the thrill of a full-day jeep/walking safari discovering tigers, rhinos and elephants along the way! Day 10-13: Kathmandu Valley. Head back to Kathmandu and connect with local NGOs addressing trafficking, and visit a Fairtrade factory. Visit the famous Bodnath temple and explore the history of Baktapur city before travelling to the hills to begin trekking. Spend two days exploring the beauty of this area and reflect with your group while enjoying spectacular views from Nargakot. Day 14: Travel Home. The trip may be over, but the memories will last a lifetime!

Connect with your global sisters in Laos in the true and beautiful spirit of sisterhood. As a group of women travelling around the stunning Luang Prabang, you will experience the tastes, sights and sounds of local culture and have the opportunity to witness the transformational work of World Vision in nearby highland communities.
TRIP OVERVIEW Day 1: Luang Prabang. Arrive and enjoy exploring this ancient UNESCO town. Located on a peninsula between the Nam Khan and Mekong rivers, the city is well known for its numerous Buddhist temples and monasteries. Explore the town on foot enjoying the sights, and French influenced architecture and cuisine. Evening option to teach English. Explore Night Market. Day 2: Village Day Trek. Spend the day walking through the stunning and remote countryside that is only accessible by foot. Gain insights into village life, return by long boat. Via Tat Se Waterfalls. Evening option to teach English. Day 3: Local Sightseeing. Explore local crafts, temples, outdoor markets. In the evening attend the renowned Tamarind Cooking School and prepare a traditional Laos dinner. Day 4-6: Rural Community Life. Visit two rural communities partnering with World Vision. Led by local World Vision staff, gain an insight into the community’s vision, the various projects being undertaken to achieve this and the challenges they face. Day 7: Final Highlight. Select from a range of local activities and tours to spend the last day of the program. A chance to do more of something you’ve discovered or try something new. Team dinner and debrief in evening with local World Vision team members. Day 8: Travel Home.

The Last Resort offers amazing adventures in spectacular settings, including the world famous bungy jump, the amazing new Tandem Swing and thrilling White Water Rafting. The natural surroundings and the spa make the resort not just a thrilling opportunity for adventure but also a great destination to relax and unwind. Journey with your son through “Becoming a man of purpose and integrity” – a series of guided studies and reflections for you and your son to participate and grow in together. Day 10: Travel home. TRIP OVERVIEW Day 1: Arrive in Port Vila. Be welcomed by the World Vision Team who will provide you with an overview of their work in Vanuatu. Day 2-3: Depart for Tanna Island. Only a short one hour plane ride away, the local World Vision will brief you on the projects you will visit, before travelling south-west for 3 hours. You will spend time in remote communities who now have access to preschool education, water, and basic health facilities thanks to local World Vision projects. Meet the people we work with and hear the stories they have to tell. Stay overnight in the community – a truly amazing o experience. Day 4: Communities. Spend the morning in communities and then depart for Mount Yasur Volcano. Mt Yasur last erupted in 2008 and is known as The Lighthouse of the Pacific due to its frequent eruptions locals cannot remember a time when Vanuatu’s famous volcano wasn’t coughing up its blazing entrails; shooting lava bombs and volcanic ash cloud hundreds of meters into the air every few minutes. Day 5: Depart for Port Vila. Following a one hour plane ride, spend some time taking in the local markets, shopping for local handcrafts, unwinding on the beach or enjoying some well- earned pampering. Enjoy a spectacular dinner by the harbour ending in a live fire dancing show - a truly magical and fun way to finish your Vanuatu experience. Day 6: Depart. Travel home after the trip of a lifetime!

Spend time in communities engaging with World Vision projects, from education initiatives through to guinea pig farming, before trekking the Inca trail into the awe inspiring Machu Picchu. An opportunity not to be missed! Day 1: Lima. Explore the bustling capital and visit an innovative WV urban project. Day 2: Fly to Cusco. Explore the city which is located near the Urubamba Valley of the Andes mountain range. Cusco was the site of the historic capital of the Inca Empire and was declared a World Heritage Site in 1983 by UNESCO. Day 3-6: Cusco. Based out of Cusco we visit a broad range of WV projects including education, water and sanitation, health, maternal newborn child health, guinea pig farming, youth development, etc. Engage in community life, interact with local WV staff, gain rare insights into World Vision’s work and the real side of life in Peru. Day 7-10: Inca Trail & Macchu Picchu Embark on one of the world’s most sought-after treks for its breathtaking panoramas, vast ecological diversity, and well-preserved archeological sites. Following the ancient stone path, we traverse high mountain passes and walk through ecological areas ranging from high desert puna to Andean cloud forest and subtropical jungle. Throughout the journey, our professional guides explain important facts and legends about the magnificent Inca civilization. On the fourth day, we arrive to Machu Picchu through the Intipunku, or Sun Gate, from where we catch our first exhilarating glimpse of the archeological wonder below. At Machu Picchu, we spend ample time discovering these spectacular remains before returning to Cusco by train. Walk 43 kilometres over 4 days. Day 11: Cusco. Final day exploring Cusco. Day 12: Trave home. After the trip of a lifetime team members fly home to Australia.

Calling all young men who are keen to step out of your busy lives and challenge yourself! Trek off the beaten track through rugged mountains. Spend time in remote communities and witness the work of World Vision projects. An adventure of a lifetime, don’t miss out!
TRIP OVERVIEW Day 1: Kathmandu. Get to know the group. Explore the popular Thamel district, with a chance to shop for supplies before heading into rural Nepal. Day 2-3: Western Hills. Take a short flight to Western Nepal and travel to Dhulikhel. Complete the final preparations and briefing before your trek begins. Day 4-10: Trek from Dhulikhel to Jumla. This is not a tourist trail but the ancient and still wellworn trail for migrants, refugees (especially during Nepal’s civil war), and traders, who continue to trek from Jumla to the lowlands of Nepal and onto India. It is full of rich history and culture. The team will have a once in a lifetime opportunity to experience the ‘real’ Nepal. The trek will be tough, hard work and will require you to dig deep to complete it. The scenery will be breathtaking and spectacular. At nights bond with your team mates and camp in the rugged mountains of Nepal. Day 11-13: Visit World Vision projects. The next couple of days will be spent connecting with the inspiring World Vision Nepal staff and seeing first-hand the difference World Vision is having on one of the most remote communities in Nepal. You will get to learn about the development approach World Vision takes and the life changing impact it has on the community members. You will have the opportunity to listen, share stories and participate in activities to get to know the community members. Day 14-15: Travel back to Kathmandu. The team makes its way back to Kathmandu. Day 16: Travel home. After the trip of a lifetime team members fly home to Australia.

Is it safe to travel? World Vision International maintains a security rating for all countries we operate in and monitors situations on the ground closely. In addition, staff monitor the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Smartraveller website (smartraveller.gov.au) for security and risk levels. What is included in the cost? Accommodation, meals, sightseeing, project visits, transportation and tour guide. Airfares and visas are the responsibility of the participant to organise. What if there was an emergency in country? All necessary steps and precautions will be taken to ensure your safety and the safety of the group whilst travelling. World Vision has a comprehensive emergency and crisis management plan, should a situation arise. Do I need travel insurance? Yes, comprehensive travel insurance is compulsory for all participants. What is the accommodation like? When choosing accommodation and transport methods, the security of our travellers is always our first priority, and our well-travelled staff members from World Vision Australia are there to support and journey with you. Accommodation will generally be in good standard hotels (approx. 3 star) with ensuites. Do I need to get medical clearance from my doctor? Yes, every participant will need to have a medical check completed by a doctor. We advise participants to see a travel doctor who can provide specialist advice about travelling to your chosen region. What will be the size of the group travelling? We will be restricting the group size to 10 participants plus 2 World Vision Leaders. What will the weather be like? What do I need to pack? We love your enthusiasm and are eager to answer all your questions! More than one billion people around the world live in poverty and struggle every day just to survive. For six decades, World Vision has worked with disadvantaged communities at a grassroots level to fight poverty and injustice. We do this through: Community Development We partner with communities on long-term projects that enable them to fain the knowledge, skills and resources needed to break the cycle of poverty and sustainably manage their own development. We address areas including food and agriculture, healthcare, water and sanitation, education, economic development, child protection and reducing disaster risks Humanitarian and Emergency Relief Wherever and whenever they happen, World Vision is poised to provide on-the-spot assistance to those affected by disasters and emergencies –whether natural or man-made. We help communities recover from disasters and plan for and reduce the impact of future setbacks. Tackling Injustice We engage governments, institutions and the pubic to address the underlying causes of poverty. We aim to empower communities to speak up for their rights and influence local and global change. Engaging Australia We inform Australians about the causes of poverty and challenge them to be involved in efforts to alleviate it. World Vision is Australia’s largest overseas aid and development organisation. In 2013, we worked in 66 countries around the world and contributed to the wellbeing of around 14.6 million children.
Where do World Vision Australia’s funds go? For over 60 years we have worked hard to make sure that all resources entrusted to us are used as efficiently and effectively as possible to bring maximum impact to children and communities in need. Our projects are funded from a range of sources, including public and corporate donations and grants from governments and multilateral organisations.
