NARROWBANDING: Are you compliant? As technology advances, demand on radio frequency spectrum continues to increase. To promote more efficient use of the spectrum, the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has mandated that UHF mobile radio licensees operating in the 400MHz band migrate to at least 12.5 kHz channel bandwidths.
Narrowbanding deadlines vary according to your location and usage situation. If you are in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Newcastle or Adelaide and operating in the 400MHz band, you may need to transition before 31 December 2012. If you are affected by other changes or if you operate from outside these areas, the deadlines vary.
> YOU MAY BE REQUIRED TO SWITCH TO 12.5 KHZ EFFICIENCY RADIOS BY 31 DECEMBER 2012
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO: > Replace two-way radio equipment only capable of operating at 25 kHz > Disable the 25kHz mode on your existing two-way radio equipment

St. George Queensland Reds stay connected with National Wireless The nature of competing in some of the loudest sporting venues in world Rugby is a challenge the St. George Queensland Reds overcome thanks to the cutting edge technology from their digital radio handset supplier, National Wireless. The Reds are continually searching for ways to gain a competitive edge and have found that through the use of Motorola Mototrbo digital radio handsets provided by National Wireless, coach Ewen McKenzie and his high performance staff can remain in clear communication at some of the biggest stadiums across Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. National Wireless prides itself on being Australia’s Premier Digital Radio Handset provider and was a partner of the Reds during their Super Rugby championshipwinning season in 2011 and again in 2012. Reds Team Manager Shane Sullivan said the equipment was a critical part of the team’s success on game days. “Effective communication is paramount and the equipment supplied by National Wireless has great clarity of sound and gives the entire coaching group the confidence we are receiving and delivering the correct messages to the players out on the field,” Mr Sullivan said. “We have the confidence that we are getting the messages through clearly without a need for repetition and this gives us a decisive advantage over our competitors.” “We’ve also experienced great customer satisfaction with their professionalism and promptness in dealing with all queries and requests.” National Wireless also prides itself on tailoring solutions to the specific requirements of each individual customer through the delivery of the most cutting edge digital radio handset technology available.
This brand new series of hand-portables inherits all of the market-leading attributes of Sepura’s existing flagship STP8000 series, and fuses them with a new generation of highly innovative features which will take the TETRA hand-portable market to an even higher level. The key focus of the STP9000 series is driving productivity improvements while also enhancing safety and security. The STP9000 series comprises three variants: STP9000, featuring a full keypad and large, colour screen; STP9100, with a reduced keypad and large, colour screen and STP9200, offering a reduced keypad and monochrome screen.
