Helicopter operations commenced at FTA in 2007 with our first course of helicopter cadets from the Hong Kong Government Flying Service. Further success in helicopter operations followed in 2008 when China’s Rescue and Salvage Bureau chose FTA as their training provider for their helicopter crews. Flight Training Adelaide (FTA) has provided high quality flight training since 1982. The campus is located at Parafield Airport approximately 15 kilometres north of the Adelaide CBD. At Parafield, a self-contained and secure campus encompasses not only training facilities, but also the residential village, Cadets’ Mess, Prayer Room and impressive sporting and recreational resources. The College is a purpose built training and living environment. We pride ourselves on offering not only the facilities, but also the experience and knowledge to provide ideal training and care for students of all cultures and nationalities. For flying training, Parafield offers a unique combination of geographic features, from hilly terrain and populated coastal regions to arid, sandy desert areas and diverse weather conditions. Adjacent to Parafield are visual training areas, abundant uncontrolled airspace, a range of aerodromes from small private strips to an international airport. In addition to these are facilities to conduct instrument training with a radar primary control zone and with NDB, VOR, ILS, DME and VASIS.

Pre entry requirements Non-Australian cadets will require a student visa prior to commencing the course. FTA has an excellent working relationship with the Australian Government Department of Immigration and is well placed to assist the customer through the process required to obtain the necessary visa documents. In order to obtain a Student Pilot License, cadets for whom English is their second language will be required to demonstrate a minimum level of English through scores achieved in IELTS, TOEIC or TOEFL tests. FTA will advise customers of the requirements on an individual basis.
