News National Wireless
End of financial year As another financial year draws to an end National Wireless can reflect upon a productive and exciting year. Our new– look website will soon be offering selected products for purchase online. Vertex Standard are launching an exciting new DMR product range and we recently signed on as the Australian and New Zealand distributor of Sepura Systems infrastructure products – bringing an exciting, new and affordable TETRA infrastructure product to our customers. As end of financial year approaches, last minute budget surpluses make June a great time to review your communications requirements and invest in upgrades to your infrastructure. It is also a good time to get an expert out to review your two way radio systems and perform any required preventative maintenance to ensure it continues running smoothly throughout the busy months ahead.

We have new pages outlining two-way radio solutions for key industries such as resources, healthcare and manufacturing. Most excitingly, we are gearing up to make the purchase of selected radios and accessories available through our website. The first stage will allow yyou to add items to a cart and d then submit it to us for processing.
National Wireless TETRA Capabilities National Wireless is very proud of the depth of experience we have in our technical team. Our qualified radio technicians have several decades of experience between them and are well-equipped to design, program, maintain and service everything from the simplest analog system to the most complex digital systems. In addition, National Wireless employs three degree-qualified Engineers – Jimmy Whelan, Michael Clark and Socrates Vlassis. Jimmy and Socrates are based in Brisbane and Michael is based in Adelaide, though they travel regularly to work with our customers all over Australia. Since 2007 when one of the first TETRA systems in Australia was commissioned for the Hyatt Sanctuary Cove, National Wireless has been at the forefront of designing and implementing TETRA systems for the commercial industrial marketplace. We recently had a chat with Jimmy, Michael and Socrates about their experiences with TETRA.
Solar powered TETRA trailer at Iron Baron, SA
What are the key benefits of TETRA? Jimmy: Voice quality, security of the system and the ability to make private calls and integrate your radio and telephone systems. TETRA gives the owner of the system full control of its functionality. Michael: Emergency/duress features, and the GPS tracking. Socrates: Applications that provide efficiency gains and associated cost savings to our customers.
What is your favourite / most successful TETRA installation? Jimmy: Peabody Mine in the Hunter Valley – we designed and installed a 2-site fully solar powered system for them. Michael: Arrium Mining at Iron Baron. Since December 2011 they have not had a single broken terminal. Their GPS tracking system and dispatcher have been successfully incorporated into their incident auditing process. The customer is so pleased we are about to roll out another site (Iron Knob) with the same solution. A key feature of the Arrium job is a solar trailer, it has not had a single failure since it was commissioned. Socrates: Designing a GPS power management algorithm, which enables Sepura handheld radios to provide the most effective GPS solution in challenging deep urban canyon environments while maintaining low power consumption. JJimmy, Michael and Socrates agree that on a personal level the best tthing about working on TETRA (and for National Wireless) is no two d days or projects are the same.

National Wireless and Sepura join forces on Australian and NZ infrastructure! The move follows Sepura’s 2012 acquisition of Austrian TETRA infrastructure supplier 3T Communications, and cements National Wireless and Sepura’s status as providers of complete critical communications solutions. The partnership dates back to 2006, when National Wireless became a distributor for Sepura in Australia and began to switch its efforts from analog solutions to TETRA, making custom system implementation its area of expertise. Since then, National Wireless has gone on to deliver and implement a wide variety of TETRA systems and networks across Australia, for sectors as diverse as mining, defence, power generation and higher education. “We have enjoyed substantial growth in Australia and New Zealand as users have become increasingly aware of the benefits of TETRA technology”, said Terence Ledger, Sepura’s Regional Director for Asia Pacific. “The expansion of our partnership with National Wireless exploits each company’s area of expertise and is a logical step both for the local market and for Sepura as providers of complete communications solutions.” “This progression is the perfect way to mark our 20th birthday”, added Peter Beurle, Managing Director for National Wireless. “It not only confirms our shift from analog to digital, but enables us to offer a true, end-to-end TETRA communications solution to our customers. Here’s to the next 20 years!”
