National Wireless

celebrates 20 Years! PA R T N E R S & S O L U T I O N S :

As 2013 draws to a close, National Wireless looks back on 20 years of growth and change in our business. From an Adelaide lounge-room, Peter Beurle founded National Wireless in 1993. With one sales person, a part time technician, and his wife Maureen, National Wireless grew quickly, and now employs around 40 people.

National Wireless

celebrates

20 Years!

National Wireless soon outgrew the lounge room space and transferred to premises in Nailsworth, where the Adelaide office is still located. Clive Jeffries joined as a director in 2001 and is currently representing National Wireless, as we take Sepura Systems products to market in Australia and New Zealand. As the company grew and welcomed customers in other states, National Wireless acquired two new businesses: Motek in Brisbane in 2000 and Comutel in the Hunter Valley in 2006. This allowed us to serve our interstate customers more efficiently and provided growth for the business. Over time, our staff numbers grew and the technology we specialised in underwent significant changes. In the early days, National Wireless concentrated exclusively on Motorola products. Back then analog was still the dominant radio technology and the internet was in its infancy. There were some early wins with the expansion of the Olympic Dam site in South Australia being one of the first to deploy analog trunking in a resources environment. That relationship continues to this day. Only last year, we upgraded a new Tetra system. In 2008, on the Gold Coast, we installed the first commercial Tetra system in Australia. It was built on DAMM infrastructure and Sepura terminals. This turned out to be the start of a growing relationship with Sepura. Earlier this year we formed an exclusive distribution agreement of the infrastructure product for Australia and New Zealand. Today, National Wireless has completed around 30 Tetra systems in a range of vertical markets as diverse as hospitality, manufacturing and mining. Over the last ten years, two-way radio has also undergone a rapid transformation as digital technology has entered the market. These new products offer customers improved audio quality, spectrum efficiency, longer battery life, and a suite of advanced features such as location services, telephone interconnect and messaging. Today National Wireless distributes Sepura and the Motorola owned brand, Vertex Standard. Earlier this year we welcomed the opportunity to become the exclusive distributor of Sepura infrastructure products. The future holds many exciting developments as LTE develops as an option for business critical voice and data. We trust you are looking forward to a well-deserved Christmas break and take this opportunity to wish all our customers a safe and relaxing holiday season. A sincere thank you to the many customers who have supported us over the years – some have been with us on the whole journey! We look forward to returning in early January 2014, energised for many more years of leading communications technology.

THE

DMR Open

Standard DMR is an international open digital radio standard recently developed by the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). It is the most widely deployed digital radio standard in the world, and is estimated at, potentially, 75% of the market. Most radio manufacturers now have DMR products or advanced plans for DMR product releases. Find out more: This technology is a TDMA based standard. This means the radio divides the frequency into time slots. The TDMA based standard uses two slots. It allows greater efficiency from infrastructure and licensing, as two different radio user groups can use a frequency concurrently. The DMR standard reduces the risk associated with the deployment of two-way radio systems by providing access to a wide choice of independent vendors. The result is that your enterprise radio communication system operates well into the future, irrespective of your supplier’s arrangements. Competition amongst manufacturers creates a dynamic market fostering innovation and makes DMR a safe choice for business. The key benefits of DMR are: • Consistent, Clear Audio • Better Battery Life • Improved Range • Advanced Call Control DMR supports backward compatibility to analog modes of operation, providing a migration to digital without a forklift upgrade. Advanced voice features are supported in the standard. One such voice operation is group call. This is ideal for announcements to multiple groups, one-to-one calling and text messaging. Some features (such as messaging) will require a terminal with a display and full keypad. Private call capability is useful for restricting radio calls to specific people, like a supervisor or a security guard, when you prefer confidentiality.

At National Wireless we understand how large organisations assess the application and suitability of new technologies and vendors. We have partnered with some of Australia’s largest organisations on their journey toward improved radio communications – resulting in the delivery of improved business outcomes. If seriously want to improve your business, using radio technology, we would love to present you a briefing, featuring real-life National Wireless DMR case studies. Let’s make a time.
