Jack Willis is due to be issued by the England Rugby team on Thursday to return to his club, Toulouse, and will miss the rest of the current Six Nations training camp, meaning further disturbance for the new coach Steve Borthwick as he makes his side for their championship opener alongside Scotland in 10 days. Borthwick has this week seen Courtney Lawes, Elliot Daly, Jamie George, and George McGuigan ruled out of the camp through damage and must make do without the 26-year-old openside flanker for the final part of the five-day get-together.
Willis entered Toulouse in November but even though Rugby Football Union rules state that players based outside the England Rugby team are absent for selection, an exclusion was made for those who had moved away from the Premiership after the deaths of Wasps and Worcester. Under the Pro Game Agreement, the England Rugby team has full access to players for a training camp this week but as he is based in France, Willis’s involvement finishes on Thursday because the official international Test window has not yet started. Willis is understood to be able to start against Scotland, so his interim exit is unwelcome. Borthwick had shown that Willis was offered to train from Monday to Wednesday and it is assumed he will leave camp on Thursday.

Toulouse is in battle on Sunday night against Montpellier when England’s squad is due to continue in Bagshot to make it to face Scotland. Borthwick could thus face an anxious wait before Willis can come back to camp. Willis recently resumed from injury but shone in Toulouse’s Champions Cup dual header against Sale and opposed Munster last weekend. I’m loving it, it’s very different but I’m just trying to submerge myself in it all, learn the language two or three French lessons a week but I’m enjoying it overall, told Willis. The biggest difference is the rate at which rugby is played. It’s an extreme level to play at.
Willis qualified alongside Ben Curry and Alex Dombrandt on Wednesday, giving a clue as to Borthwick’s plans. Ben Earl, Lewis Ludlam, and Sam Simmonds offer options in the back row, as do Nick Isiekwe, Ollie Chessum, and Maro Itoje should Borthwick opt for more of a lineout option. Temporarily, Luke CowanDickie’s hopes of appearance throughout the Six Nations are over after the Exeter director of rugby proved the hooker will be sidelined until the closing weeks of the season with an ankle injury.
Borthwick has difficulties at hooker with George presently sidelined with a concussion and McGuigan out with a knee injury. Harlequins’ unscrewed hooker Jack Walker is standing by for the Scotland fixture. The length of Luke’s injury means he should be back before the end of the season. The question will be whether it’s one or two weeks before the end of the season, Baxter said. It’s not going to be a big chunk of the season that he gets back offered for.
The Welsh Rugby Union chair, Ieuan Evans, has pledged that a task force that contains external knowledge will be created to help tackle allegations of racist, homophobic, and bigot bullying within the governing body. Several former WRU employees took part in an inquiry by BBC Wales which was screened on Monday night with allegations about their time at the organization. I can only genuinely apologize to all concerned, told Evans. Worldwide Tickets and Hospitality offers Rugby World Cup tickets for the France Rugby World Cup 2023 at the best prices. England Vs Argentina: Argentina Rugby world cup and Pumas shock
Sunday 22 January. In Hamilton, the women's rugby contest was won by the Black Ferns who, with their 33-7 outdoing of the USA, went top of the rankings, four points clear of arch-rivals Australia.
The Pearls were slipped up by the USA in the semi-finals 10-7 before settling for bronze by beating the Ireland Rugby team 33-17. New Zealand was buoyant after their women justifiably lifted the trophy but came roaring back down to earth as the All-Blacks Sevens suffered an unimaginable collapse.
Akuila Rokolisoa - the series' top points scorer who took his tally to 165 points went over the line in the fourth minute, but the Kiwis blew the exchange, a miss that would prove expensive in the end. Roderick Solo fell four minutes later to make it 12-0 at the lemon break but the story was only beginning. Santiago Alvarez shaved the deficit for the Pumas with a ninth minute try and Marcos Moneta leveled three minutes afterward.
Tobias Wade, who had only come off the bench a minute before, pinned the conversion as the tourists had the last laugh and their first win of the season. USA, felled by the Argentina Rugby team 24-14 in the last four, beat France 15-14 in the bronze final. New Zealand is still top of the table with 63 points, two points ahead of the USA. Argentina Rugby team (59) and South Africa (57) are in third and fourth place, separately.
Last, the front two in the women's rankings are the USA in third and Ireland in fourth. The top four finishers at the season's end routinely qualify for the Paris 2024 Olympics Hamilton is the fourth stop of the series for men, and the third for women. The tour moves on to Sydney next weekend.
