Wales Vs Australia: Wales rugby side will be at its best at RWC 2023

Here's all the Wales trainer had to say after his side's 41-28 loss to France in Paris. Wales ended a long Six Nations drive with another setback, this time against in-form France. Despite the downfall in Paris, there were some positives in an attacking show which saw Wales cross for four tries, even if they coughed up points a little too simply. Here's what Wales Rugby World Cup head coach Warren Gatland had to say in his post-match media talks.

Warren, how do you evaluate that performance before Rugby World Cup 2023?

Warren Gatland replied I thought we showed some real personality. We started the game well and were confident in the way we played. What has been aching us in our game is a few imprecisions. We have run hard for our tries and perhaps gave them a couple of soft tries. I was pleased with our actions because it was a game that could have got away from us knowingly but the boys turned in and I thought the control from the bench was outstanding.

I have been a little bit dangerous of that in the last few games. We have certainly shown upgrading in this competition. There was lots of enhancement in this performance but we are not fairly there yet and we have a lot of work to do I am self-confident with the work we will do over the next few months leading to the Rugby World Cup 2023 this group of players will get a lot enhanced.

I don't think there has been any change in the messages that we have been giving to the performers for making the right choices and being courageous. We perhaps estimated France to kick a lot more today and they didn't do that so that allowed us to take the chances to play a bit more. I thought mainly in the second half when we got back into the game and we counted it could have been exciting in the last 10 minutes.

Was it a routine you can form on going to France Rugby World Cup?

Completely. I said to the players in the changing room later I was pleased with them. I thought they showed some real personality in that game and we as a team have been pretty direct. We know there is plenty of work to do. We will shock some teams in the RWC 2023 with how good we will be and how much we will progress having that time together to arrange. We are taking steps in the correct route during this drive but we have a lot of effort to do.

We have advanced some teenagers who will learn from these involvements and we will analyse stuff and what are the things we need to keep functioning on to not allow some of those soft shots we did allow. Those are the sort of things we will progress on over the next few months before the France Rugby World Cup and harden up in that area. For more know about Wales Rugby World Cup Tickets.

Are you any closer to knowing what your finest XV is for Rugby World Cup?

That'll swap over the next few months. I said right from the flinch that was going to occur, that we'd give teenagers a chance. We knew we had grown up, skilled players who we knew what they could do and we had somebody like Rhys Webb who has come back out of the wilderness and given us food for thought. Tomos Williams was abundant today. We've got a few players who are wounded as well who positively, come back ahead of RWC 2023.

Do you trust you are heading in a precise way ahead of the RWC?

I think it was a very short training time in terms of the summit with the players, a lot of new performers, and trying to find out where we were as a team. We understood from the start there was a sensible amount of work to do in a lot of parts before the France Rugby World Cup. We tried to arrange some of those and focus on some of them. We're dissatisfied because there are games there that we will be good sufficient to win, but we're not there yet.

We'll stay to do that. We presented some evolution in this competition, which is the fairest thing, and today against a side that when they get on top of you, can punish you a bit like the New Zealand rugby team. The boys didn't surrender. They showed some heart and personality. That's what we're looking for as an initial point. I think there are some real positives to take out of its structure forward.

Finally, do you have a greater word on Taulupe Faletau's accomplishment?

It was an amazingly special instant last night when we celebrated Taulupe Faletau's 100th Wales cap. We had a filmed set-up with lots of emails from people he had grown up with and played with. We had his mum and dad there, his wife Charlotte and kids and aunt and sister. It was pretty expressive. As a group, we are getting back to where we want to get in terms of getting quicker and putting some of those differences behind us.

Maybe a new entry in the Australia Rugby World Cup team

Ryan Lonergan could find himself on a plane to France Rugby World Cup with Australia if he carries on his fine form off the bench, according to ex-Australian international Stephen Hoiles. The 24-year-old from Canberra has been a strength for the Brumbies in Super Rugby Pacific since his first game for them in 2017. Lonergan has been on the borders of the Australia set-up too, receiving training camp call-ups under previous trainer Dave Rennie. For more know about Australia Rugby World Cup Tickets

Lonergan has played for Australia at the under-18s and under-20s level and last year skippered Australia A team. A start with the Australia Rugby World Cup side has yet to come although that might not be too far away. Speaking on media, Hoiles said Lonergan was making a solid case for Rugby World Cup 2023 selection as a dedicated bench player. What he's doing now, he's essentially showing he's becoming the best bench halfback in the state.

That's a vital role, especially moving forward into Test season, said Hoiles. It works effortlessly. It is one of the harder spots to play 80 minutes. You start to guard a game and you start to guard every good No.9 around the 60-minute spot and watch them start to slow up. The Brums all said it post-game the entire bench was fantastic, but he looked like he was the man that led the care for the bench at RWC 2023.
