ADVENTURE TO WEST MEDITERRANEAN

One small stretch of coastline casts its spell on the entire world: it’s the 60 miles from Monaco along the French Riviera to SaintTropez. The very names drip with sophistication: Cannes, Cap Ferrat, Nice, Antibes, Monaco. A haven for movie stars and royals, venture capitalists and industrial tycoons, this glamorous playground can be explored over and over without growing old. There are ancient villages to wander and sophisticated nightclubs for dancing the night away, designer boutiques and casual open markets, all overlaid with superb food and fine wines. Start and end at the fairytale Principality of Monaco, where you might want to take a chance on the dice at the famed Monte Carlo Casino. During the annual Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix many charters never leave the harbor, serving instead as luxurious accommodations with unrivaled views of the racing. Immortalized by F. Scott Fitzgerald in”Tender is the Night” and made famous by Cary Grant and Grace Kelly in “To Catch a Thief”, the Riviera is on everyone’s “must visit” list. How better to go than by luxury yacht?

ITALY NICE Arrive into Nice and meet your yacht. Dinner this evening under the stars is the beginning of wonderful things to come. The South of France is the world’s most popular yacht charter region. Nice offers historic buildings, open-air markets, fine dining, exquisite shopping, sandy beaches, thumping discotheques and more. You can stroll through the town centers with their crooked, cobblestone alleyways and tiny, renovated shops, or indulge in the most elegant of modern boutiques and eateries.

Antibes

ANTIBES Antibes, one of the most romantic towns on the Mediterranean coast, is the center of yachting in the south of France. Stroll along the Promenade Amiral-de Grasse on the crest of Vauban’s seawalls. And make sure to view the impressive collection in the Musee Picasso! Tonight we will spend the evening docked alongside other spectacular yachts at the International Yacht Club.

Villefranche

VILLEFRANCHE SUR MER The pretty town of Villefranche-Sur-Mer is a perfect base from which to explore. Like many medieval villages, the narrow cobblestone and bricked streets slope steeply down towards the sea. Many little restaurants line the streets and a visit to the nearing hilltop village of Eze is a must. Continue on to Saint Paul de Vence for a romantic dinner at La Colombe d’Or.

Cannes

CANNES

MANDELIEU-LA NAPOULE

Cruise to fabled Cap d’Antibes, a peninsula between Nice and Cannes where the marina, overlooked by an ancient stone castle, harbors many of the world’s largest yachts. Have lunch ashore and take in the Picasso Museum at Chateau Grimaldi. Later, head for Cannes and stroll the mile-long Promenade de la Croisette.

Around the bay from Cannes is the enticing seaside escape of Mandelieu La Napoule, known for its mountain range of red rock that descends into the Mediterranean. Visit the Château de la Napoule and stroll through the garden, or walk the path up San Peyre, a volcano that rises above the town, and enjoy magnificent views of the Riviera.

ST. TROPEZ Day of beaches and relaxation Leave early and anchor for a swim off famed Pampelonne Beach, an extraordinarily long beach said to be the home of the bikini and one its early proponents, Brigitte Bardot. Then follow the boardwalks ashore to Madame de Colmont’s former beach hut, Club 55, where poisson froid washed down with some Pampelonne Rosé might be the order of the day.

Day of Shopping & Nightclubs Take time to explore the charms of Saint-Tropez, dipping into its boutiques and perhaps stopping off at one of the bars or cafés dotted along its winding streets for some refreshment. Dine ashore at Alain Ducasse’s Rivea at Byblos Saint Tropez. Beach parties may beckon in the evening, and there are glamorous nightclubs aplenty where you can dance into the early hours.

Abbey, Saint-Honorat

ILES D’ LERINS

ST. JEAN CAP FERRAT

Cruise past the red-roofed villas spilling down the hillsides and stop at Iles de Lérins, a pair of islands near Antibes. Saint-Honorat has an abbey where Cistercian monks produce a fine white wine, while Sainte-Marguerite has the fort made famous in The Man in the Iron Mask. These islands are another calm spot in the hectic Riviera lifestyle, where lavender, olive trees and wild daisies mix with the aroma of rosemary and wild honeysuckle.

Cruise back towards Monaco and stop at St. Jean Cap Ferrat. St-Jean- Cap-Ferrat offers two pretty anchorages on either side of the peninsula, where you can laze on board while eyeing out the spectacular villas adorning the coast. Take the tender in to Paloma or Plage de Passable beach clubs for a long, relaxing lunch and lazy afternoon, and then consider dining at Grand Hotel du Cap Ferrat’s Le Cap restaurant.
