Who else is ready for some summer fun? I
t wasn’t exactly swimming weather when my wife and I took our kids to Island H2O Live! Water Park about two weeks ago over Spring Break. Overcast, low of 60, high of 74. But after months and months of LaunchEd, isolation and too many hours on the iPad, we didn’t care. We pulled on our swimsuits, piled into the car and embarked on our quest for epic outdoor fun. And it didn’t disappoint. Sure, we shivered more than we slid, and we dodged any and all sprays and waterfalls as best we could, but it was worth it to see our kids let loose, if only for a few hours. As I write this, the outdoor temperatures are climbing into the 90s for the first time this year — likely to remain that way for at least six months. Translation: It’s the perfect time to plan your summer fun. Unlike last summer, many of your children’s favorite camps are back this year — and yes, with all

the necessary safety precautions in place. Simultaneously, vaccines continue to roll out swiftly, with our community becoming safer with every needle in every arm. Many of our wonderful childcare facilities have operated through much of this pandemic without major outbreaks. Similarly, our local schools have been able to navigate conducting not only in-person learning but also extracurricular activities safely. As a dad, I have seen the negative mental and emotional
effects this forced isolation has had on my own kiddos. And I’ve also seen their happiness return as we’ve made transitions throughout the year back to faceto-face learning. From artistic endeavors and educational programs to faithbased fun and plenty of athletics, our Central Florida-area camps are offering a wide variety of experiences this summer. Following a year unlike any other in our lifetimes, I’m excited to see these opportunities for our children return. If a camp in our guide catches your eye and you want to know more about its planned safety protocols, don’t hesitate to make a quick phone call. Of course, the safety of your children is at the forefront of your mind. It’s paramount for those leading these camps, as well. As always, we hope you enjoy digging into our Summer Fun 2021!
