SCHOOL PROFILE THE BASICS
Piaget Academy
ADDRESS: 6395 Raleigh St., Orlando HOURS: 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays PHONE NUMBER: (407) 293-9372 WEBSITE: piagetacademyorlando.com Piaget Academy has been in business for more than 30 years. The academy is accredited by the National Association of Childcare Providers and is a Florida Gold Seal School. Piaget Academy’s philosophy is to uphold high academic and childdevelopment standards with a commitment to teach values, manners and strength of character. Its unique, academically rich classrooms are conducive for learning and growing through developmentally appropriate childcentered teaching. Judith De Armas owns and runs Piaget Academy.
ABOUT THE BUSINESS Please give a brief history of your business. Piaget Academy was founded by a true pioneer in early-childhood education more than 30 years ago. It was the first school of its kind in Orlando, offering the best care and early education to the the kids in the MetroWest community. After our son, Sebastian, was born, I had the privilege to spend the first seven years of his life volunteering at the very best preschools in South Florida. These amazing preschools offered the very best care and education for children ages 1 to 5. I became a strong believer in early-childhood education and the huge impact it can make on a child’s life. When we moved to Orlando, my husband and I were both committed and determined to buy a preschool, and create a very special place where a strong educational curriculum and child care would be second to none. It was very important to us that all children in the MetroWest community could received the same amazing, high-end education my son, Sebastian, received in his earlier years. What kind of goods or services does your business offer to the MetroWest community? Our primary goal is to offer the MetroWest community the most secure and loving place for children to grow, learn, and enjoy happy lives. Our program features disciplines of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) that help our students improve their competitiveness in technology development. We also place a great deal of emphasis in reading, performing arts and physical development. Most importantly, we want all of our children to fall in love with books and all the wonders these books can bring to life. We also provide after-school services for elementary kids in the area. Last but not least, we are very proud to provide the kids at MetroWest with the most comprehensive and fun summer experience during our summer camps. What are some ways your business contributes to the MetroWest Community? We are very proud of all the parents who made the decision to bring their children to Piaget Academy. These parents and many times single parents work very hard and long hours. Our main contribution to the community is to give these parents complete peace of mind and ensure their children are truly receiving so much love and so much care and that they are fed the best and the most nutritious food in town — our chef prepares the freshest, healthiest and the most delicious meals and snacks.
What makes MetroWest an ideal community for your business? We are so glad and very proud to be an integral part of MetroWest as this community strives for growth and offers a good place and base for hundreds of families that move into this area every single year. What sets your business apart from any competitor? What sets us apart is our passion for the well-being of all our children, parents and teachers. We have been NAC accredited for many years, which is the highest accreditation a preschool can receive, and we are the only school in the area that enjoys such an honor. Do you have any big goals planned for your business in the next five years? If so what are they? We are considering expanding our services to offer kindergarten and first-grade classes. The reason that we are considering to enhance our service offering is because kindergarten and first grade are such critical years, and we want to ensure students can have the best educational experience during this phase. What is your business motto or mission? To create and maintain a rich environment where our children can be happily grow and learn. How many employees do you have? We have 30 wonderful and dedicated employees. How do your describe your clients/customers? We have the privilege and joy to have very smart parents who want the very best for their children.
ABOUT THE OWNER What is your background — professional and education? Bachelor’s degree in business administration, with an emphasis in finance and accounting. Early child-development director credentials, including Early Child Education (2005-2015), CPA (2003-2004), full-time mom and volunteer at various preschools (1996-2003), CPA (1990-1995), banking (1985-1989) How long have you been in the business? Ten years What is the secret to your success? A strong and clear mission to consistently provide the best place for children to be happy, grow and learn, preparing all of our students to be highly successful in life. What kind of work culture do you promote? A culture that fosters excellence, empowerment and a happy place to work. Our culture encourages our amazing teachers to be the very best, and provide the premier care and education our children deserve. What is your management style? Lead by example and treat all people they way we want to be treated. The Golden Rule is well practiced at Piaget Academy.

Have you heard about MetroWest’s participation in the SmartWater CSI theft prevention program?
SMS Alert System The MetroWest Public Safety Department is using a new crime prevention and community awareness tool to help advance our objective to connect MetroWest communities and improve public safety. The SMS Alert System is designed to keep our communities and businesses aware of emergency and other priority situations occurring within MetroWest by providing important information directly to the resident or business via text message. The two-way system will be used to relay information about weather alerts, traffic problems, criminal activity and exigent situations in general. The system can provide information by community, zone, residential/ business or all areas of MetroWest. Presently, we are gathering phone numbers from community members and building a database while we work on establishing SMS Alert System procedures. The MetroWest community alert system will offer everyone who participates just one more way to stay safe and stay in the know where they live, work and play.We encourage you to sign up and stay connected. The more participants in the program, the better our community will be protected! You can sign up for the SMS Alerts by contacting the MetroWest Public Safety Officers at 407-473-2021, email contact@ metrowestpublicsafety.com or visiting the MetroWest website at www.MetroWestCommunity.com.

SmartWater kits also come with a window sticker to be placed in a prominent location at your residence where it can be easily detected by would be thieves. Community signage also will have a psychological impact on the would be criminal. This is a critical component in the overall program. SmartWater CSI will be offered to every resident and business within MetroWest and through high numbers of participation, this product will prove to be an excellent deterrent to those who want to victimize individuals in the MetroWest community. The Orlando Police Department has received training by SmartWater CSI instructors on how to detect stolen property and collect evidence using this product.
