a PA System overview What is a PA? It is an electronic amplification system with a mixer, amplifier and loudspeakers, used to reinforce a sound source.

Why would we need a PA? ............................................................................................................................................................. .............................................................................................................................................................

Did you know? Music has helped drive some wonderful innovations in PA systems and speaker technology. For instance, the Leslie Cabinet rotated at varying speeds, sending the sound in all directions of the room (rather than simply in the direction the speaker was facing). A lot of guitar players in the psychedelic rock era of the 60’s & 70’s, such as George Harrison (The Beatles) and Jimi Hendrix, used these speakers to create the sensation that their guitar sounds were careening around the room, no doubt adding to the psychedelic experience of the shows.

When setting up, using or even drawing a diagram of your PA System have these points in mind: 1. Setup

• What am I amplifying?

.......................................................................................................

• What equipment do I need? .......................................................................................................

• What goes where?
