Permit Me to Dream

All That I Need As I look back at all the things I’ve come to own I think of all the good times, of all the memories I’ve known I recall all the friends that I’ve made on my way What more can I possibly say? My treasures, they’ll fade away; all my money, that’ll go too My houses will fall down, my financial planning, they’ll fall through But despite all of that, I still am a very rich man For memories and dreams are all that I need Take away all of my gold, they won’t last But leave me with my thoughts, my memories, my dreams of the past As long as I have that, I have all that I need Oh yes, that’s all a man really needs Yes I don’t care if I go broke; this is not what is important to me Because as poor as I may seem, I still have my friends, family and dreams! So I say once more, once and for all... I have all that I need.

Steven Caulfield

Best Friends Forever Brothers in arms we marched Into the war against tomorrow Armed and prepared for the worst Always hoping for the sun on a rainy day The yin and yang played happily Their minds rich with imagination Philosophies and brand new views Were created in the minds of the brothers Singing too loudly to every song Playing to a make-believe audience On the stage of youthful dreams and hope Never missing a note or beat The wars became too real And our hearts came to know pain I watched you wish your death You saw me sob myself to sleep I suffered heartbreak You bear the scars of your past But though the hells of life try to bring us down As brothers in arms, we continue to march Although the world is far more serious It cannot erase our youthful smiles For we are older, but we’re still on that stage Never missing a note or beat...

Permit Me to Dream

Cold Day in May The height of Spring The month of life Leaving cold and bitter memories In the melting snow of Winter We embrace the Sun And dance in light rain The season of death has gone The World is born again An ever turning cycle A recurring circle of life When one drowns in the sea of despair They soon swim in the ocean of hope I envy the innocent The joy they find in Spring The season of their salvation But not for my tainted heart I wander through the warm days Hearing the sounds of youthful play But though the laughter may be loud I can only listen to the cries of my past The months go by, the past remains But peace will come in the days ahead Until the time comes to cry again On a cold day in May
