OOTA NEWS Update on Poetry/Prose Classes. Out of the Asylum Writers Inc. advises that classes have now been reinstated in Room 2 at the Fremantle Arts Centre. New uniform times: Poetry 12.45pm- 2.45pm and Prose 12.45pm- 2.45pm. It was agreed by the Management Committee of OOTA that since the FAC has always been our base it was important to remain so for the viability of the group. Management has also agreed to partly subsidise the cost of the room hire, which in turn helps the viability of the classes and maintains a reasonable fee for the tutors. As well, this keeps the cost of the classes down to $20. Do watch out for the date of our AGM in October whereby the matter will be tabled. WRITING AT THE CENTRE Friday, 12th September is Poetry with Shane McCauley. Room 2 @ the Fremantle Arts Centre: 12.45pm – 2.45pm Poetry Biter for the 12th September is Joe Forshaw. Joe will share some of his writing with you @ midday in the Fremantle Arts Centre Café. Would be great to see poets come along early before class.

Book here POEM OF THE WEEK Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone, Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone, Silence the pianos and with muffled drum Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come. Let aeroplanes circle moaning overhead Scribbling on the sky the message He Is Dead, Put crepe bows round the white necks of the public doves, Let the traffic policemen wear black cotton gloves. He was my North, my South, my East and West, My working week and my Sunday rest, My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song; I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong. The stars are not wanted now: put out every one; Pack up the moon and dismantle the sun; Pour away the ocean and sweep up the wood. For nothing now can ever come to any good. — W.H.
